  1. I heard a rumour we have signed an Irish player who is supposed to be really good, apparantly Mcnamara watched him once and said hes better than anyone we have. (which might not be saying much!). I also heard he was meant to play in a bounce game vs rangers but mcnamara withdrew him incase rangers tried to sign him first. Anyone else heard about this? Does sound like bollox to be honest but we could do with some good news after saturday!

  2. I agree livi brought 111 fans with them couldnt believe we opened the stand for them,,,, i counted them all by the way,,,,

we could have saved money and put them in the j h stand far end and saved money............

I remember being at firhill for a midweek game vs livi, they brought 42 fans there're away support is a joke.

  3. What's with the hostile responses to asking a question? It's a forum for Partick Thistle fans. I'm a Partick Thistle fan. It doesn't hurt anyone to ask a question in a new thread. If you can't be bothered with it, don't post. The forum is for people who are enthusiastic about the club and want to talk about it, not for people who are looking to make any discussion as concise as humanly possible so we don't have to talk about the club. That's a surefire way for people to forget the team exists and go to the cinema on a saturday afternoon instead.

I posted something similar a few months ago asking what was happening with the ground and noone replyed either. which was nice.

  4. Any reason why they couldn't go back to Shawfield? The stadium is still there afterall

I work next to shawfield its a total dump these days. The terracing thats still there is big but would need a lot of money spent on it to make it safe for fans and the main stand is falling apart. Would probably be cheaper bringing Cathkin park up to standard!

  5. can't be any worse than what we have now, an unused old stand & an unsightly mound. Add in an away stand thats getting used less & less. It's grim already. With hindsight the Jackie Husband is too big. 2 x 3000 stands along each side & 2 x 1000 stands behind each goal would have been much better.

I would still love to put the shed boys in the North Stand (ffs give it a name BOD!!) even if it's not our traditional end. They could get an atmosphere going in there. Put away fans in the City end of the JH, it's not like we get that many anyway nowadays

I agree with you 2x 3000 stands and 2x 1000 would be a lot better. I wonder if we'd be better off selling up and building a new ground, we'd probably get a decent amount of money being fairly close to the west end. I don't think there was anything wrong with building the JH 6000+, at the time the potential of the club was huge but doesn't really suit now.

  6. Has anyone got any drawings/artists impressions etc, of what the plans are for the city end of Firhill and the main stand? I heard the main stand will be turned into one row of seats with something similar at the city end? If this is true i think it will be a total disaster for Firhill :mad2:

  7. I've always loved this picture by Tommy Taylor. Was just browsing through the photos on the official site, and thought that it was worth highlighting again, for no particular reason other than it never fails to rekindle my adoration of the Jags! (Also, the reference to Seve Ballesteros in the legend makes it a bit poignant.)

Love this photo as well, the guy praying is brilliant! A good idea the club selling these to raise funds, i'd def buy one.

  8. A selection of yesterday pictures on the Official website HERE.

These are NOT the ones which will be available to buy but a taster of the day.

    Enjoy.

    Tommy

Did anyone hear how the guy who went to hospital is? The players name who "done" him is Graham Baikie by the way!!

  9. If your mate works next to Firhill he will no doubt know that their is not a bookie next to Firhill. Their is of course one on Maryhill Road but for your mate to know McCall is never out the bookies would ensure therefore that your mate is never out the bookies either

Oh sorry the bookies a couple of streets away from Firhill then. And did i say my mate wasn't always in the bookies? no i didn't. Cheers.
  10. i'm still annoyed wae him a bit for wanting to go to hundee, only reason he didnt go to scumdee was hundee didnt want to pay the release clause fae his contract so he stayed at us. he even said he wouldn't have stayed if thistle could have agreed a release fee. If he wants to go, let him go. they are heavily in debt, will probably be going down next year. he'll have no traktor to plough his totties. if someones heart isnt in it. let them go. wee need someone who want to manage us and will give us a bit of pasion and pride (jim duffy maybe) **** mccall. He needs to go to gamblers anonymous anyhow

My mate works next to Firhill he says mccall's never out the bookies!!

  11. Don't know if anyone else heard this last night , but the last caller was as usual spouting p1sh about the old firm bigotary , can't remember what side he took but his basic point was this happens at all grounds e.g. Dunfermiline, PARTICK THISTLE etc . how dare this fecking ****** go live on air and muddy our name (and in fairness Dunfermilines)to try to justify his feckud up opinion ! F3cking typical old firm twats "its no just us whit dis it " " everybody has it in fur us " no fecking wonder , i remember when super score board was an entertaining football show , this mob scunner the life out me, how about tonight a mass thistle related phone in protest at this mugs p1sh opinion . Rant over !!!!!!!!!

This guy sounds like a typical OF fan (a moron). I can't even listen to "super" score board as they always just go on about the brothers grimm. FTOF!

  12. Quote of the week from a hijacked wiki page of the falkirk *****baws!

After retiring as a player, Pressley was assistant manager of Falkirk, before being appointed manager in February 2010. Pressley also served as an assistant manager to George Burley while Burley was manager of Scotland. Pressley is nicknamed Elvis after Elvis Presley, the pair sharing a similar surname although opposition supporters have started calling him the Matalan Mancini after he started imitating the Manchester City bosses's touchline dress style although he does finish the look off with a pair of pishy brown shoes

so who was it eh?!!

    Love it! The guy's a ******

  13. Bar Oz was a brilliant pub, spent every Friday in my first year at uni necking jugs of lager in there before going to the GU. It was good for starting a night out, good for something to eat, good for watching the football and good for a game of pool.

    Why did it shut down?

Yeah bar oz was good. I remember watching the scotland vs england play off 1st leg in there, the place was totally rammed and there was a guy sleeping in the wheelchair lift! totally steaming, even the bouncers just left him. Used to go in there before jags games as well. Not sure why it shut but it was starting to look a bit run down before it changed to coopers.

  14. Was talking to my mate today about boozers we used to frequent that are no longer there or still there but not the same name etc?

With the amount closing..49 a month in the u.k i read somewhere..thought was decent topic for a thread.

A couple we were talking about today..The Blob Shop at the top of Sauchiehall Street..had many a few jars in there at 16 years old..sure it was 75p a pint :)

Another one we were debating which is long gone..Memories Bar..near where the volcano used to be..think its flats now....sure it was a H*n shop right enough..but we used to nip in there on a friday after work for a cheap pint and a good jukey :)

So folks any others you would like share?

I remember drinking in the blob shop when i was 16. On a friday night we used to start in the Exchequer on dumbarton road, then go over to bar zoo, then stagger up to bar oz. Did this for years, can't remember why we missed all the other pubs on the way up to bar oz, must have been cheap drink there!

  15. not being funny mate..well i am a bit :P ..could you not have asked him when you met him :D

Suppose i could've, but he was in a rush i was only talking to him for a few secs. btw saw Martin Hardie in Clydebank today don't need to ask who he's playing for
