If that’s remotely true then that’s  a huge problem , preferring a 35 yr old who hasn’t played for 6 months against a reasonably fit 24 yr old In Souleymane Coulibaye

Sounds like Gary Caldwell is pressing the panic button , not sure the manager is sending out the right signals .

Hasn’t played since last April, close to a year out of football now. Hopefully no more than newspaper talk.

  2. So Keown is forced to train with the reserves and meanwhile we had a bench with no defenders last week. There’s being decisive and showing you’re in control, then there being naive and leaving yourself massively exposed in the event of an injury or red card. Here’s hoping we sign some defenders soon.

Appreciate the summary, Wo63. That first paragraph completely contradicts what I'd read earlier on Twitter and serves to highlight the lengths some fans will go to stoke feelings of resentment towards the manager.

Seeing as you read it on Twitter but are choosing to highlight it on here I’d say your post only serves to highlight the length that some fans will go to try and divide our support into factions.

Got a problem with someone on Twitter take it up with them instead of bitching about it elsewhere. There’s often a similar approach on P&B where some Jags fans are happy to slag off posts they read on here, it is elitist bullshit.

No mention that he did not want lawless despite the fact he could have made a big difference to us in this league?

he may feel he was hampered by not being able to rid the club of those signings but he signed them in the first place giving them lucrative deals

Did you think Storey was a bad or good signing? If he had worked out would you have been happy or unhappy that we put him on a good deal with strong retention built in?

Some folk on this thread are delusional! For what it's worth we have played better the last 2 games with GC signings included. We ain't amazing but at Utd that was a good point and bar some amazing saves by their keeper would have won. Today i am sure we would have won if not for the Harkins red card which was soft

I will judge him come mid february if still in same position with his own players he has signed. Not writing him off just yet. If we still had Archie we would be in the same position.

What’s Wednesday’s lottery numbers? I only ask because you seem quite certain about events that haven’t happened.

    would have won last week

    would have won today

would still be in the same position

    Speculative shite and nothing more.

He is out if contract in the summer and free to talk to other clubs the club cannot prevent this ....just like he did with Dundee Utd

Yeah but they can’t enter into talks about an immediate move without the clubs permission. Given that the club were first and foremost receptive to an immediate move I say again that Erskine would have been foolish not to enter into talks.

  8. The club were free to reject the approach and end it there and then, without a Erskine or the fans knowing about it. Given they were receptive to the approach Erskine would be stupid not to consider the offer.

No I didn’t go today. And I appreciate your synopsis of the game.

But regardless of how we played or how soft their penalty was, bottom line is that we didn’t win. Again. Caldwell has taken us backward. We’re bottom of the league. Draws aren’t good enough. Could have, should have just doesn’t cut it.

    1 win in 11 surely isn’t acceptable?

Surely now he’s signed the new players we have to accept that he gets time to make it gel?

The next 3 games at home are huge. Decision time after those games I think if we haven’t done the business.

  10. Archie’s squad was brutal.

Archie failed massively as manager over his last 18 months.

Archie deserved to go, it was the right decision.

    GC inherited Archie’s failing squad.

GC has been trying to motivate that squad.

    however...........

Archie beat Morton twice with that squad.

GC has lost twice to Morton with that squad.

If Archie was rubbish then GC is worse, we got rid of a failing manager and didn’t make the right appointment.

Are you sure if he has been released from his queen of the south contract is he not a free agent when he signed for us?

Being released makes no difference. If when the window closed on 31/08 he was under contract he cannot play for another team until 01/01, whether he kicked a ball for his original club or not and entirely irrespective of how his current contract ended. The only exception is a loan agreement (which is dependent on league rules) or if his contract is cancelled due to administration when the league needs to grant an exception (like Gallagher and others in our promotion season).

A lot of knicker-wetting regarding GGGH's fitness levels. I'm sure Mr Caldwell has carried out a full and thorough analysis of them...

And detailed it all in a fancy PowerPoint

  13. Jack Storer was exactly the type of player that John Lambie would take a punt on. The difference between then and now is that JL would often release said player 4 weeks later if things weren’t working out. The transfer window and the need to commit to a 5 month contract makes signings like this more risky than ever before.

If this project is scrapped, so be it. It's a bit of a vanity project.

It’s a vanity project to have a permanent base for training your players and your academy squads? Really?

Right now we hire pitches at great expense right across Glasgow and the surrounding area, for both the main squad and the youths. Right now we load buses with equipment and have to unload, set up, and repack at the end of every session. Going forward in the long term we will have a multi pitch site with our own buildings on site. We can set that up to suit our needs re gyms, treatment rooms, lecture rooms etc. We will pay £0 in building costs. We will pay a hire fee of no more than we pay just now and won’t be subject to random and excessive rises at the whim of the owners each and every year.

It’s as far from being a vanity project as could be, it’s a meaningful and highly significant step forward to securing the future infrastructure of our club. And it is something that every club of our size would bite your hand off for.

  15. If Caldwell didn’t have the ability to make an accurate judgement of our current squad when applying for the job  then how can he be trusted to make an accurate judgement of the ‘right’ players to sign in January. Remember his judgement, after careful analysis and producing his famed PowerPoint presentation, was that he could halt the decline and get us in the promotion hunt.

  16. I thought the captain should have taken the responsibility yesterday, in such a high pressure situation leaders should lead from the front. But there is no manual as far as I’m aware that states whose job it is to take penalty’s when they’re awarded - and as has been said maybe we do have a penalty taker and maybe that is currently Blair Spittal.
