  1. This is quite rightly regarded as one of the positive things to come out of the club in the past few years. It certainly makes it more affordable. I was looking in the ET last week when I noticed an article about an ice hockey team playing at Breahead. I thought that the wee man might be interested and so I checked out the prices - £17 adult, £10 child. GTF - glad i didn't mention it to him.

If you were to reduce the adult rate, i'd happily pay £17 for a parent and child(ren) ticket, but to be honest i'd say around £20 would be my max. Do you think 'pay-what-you-can' would have the piss ripped out it? I think i'd chuck in £20 if it was pay what you can.

    Sorry for getting off topic...

Actually... tickets prices are tiered for the Braehead Clan, with adult tickets at £13, £15 and £17, and U14 tickets at £7, £10 and £17, as seen Here. I'd imagine most families would be in the Bronze tier, where an adult and child would cost £20.

  2. The Trust should, in my opinion, 'suggest' to the BoD that they will continue to fund raise on behalf of the club but that the cash will all be staying in the Trust's bank account until the various outstanding issues are resolved.

    end of.

I'm hoping that someone from the trust can help me here. I'm planning to pull out of the centenary fund, partly due to the shabby way the trust has been treated by the board - especially the fact that I voted in favour of transferring from the 1876 club to the CF - yet the trust hasn't recieved any of the shares promised in return for my, or other fans', contributions. Also because I'm a bit hard up for cash and don't want to piss my money against a wall when I have better things to spend my money on. If it is possible, since my direct debit is paid to the trust and forwarded on through them, I'd like to continue contributing by way of a donation** to the trust. Could you remove me from the CF and put this to good use some other way?

**As the contribution would be a donation and not part of a fundraiser, it should not contravene the agreement with the club regarding competing fundraising vehicles. I think.

  3. Talk about a call to arms!!!!! Phenominal stuff!!!!!

They should put this up in the boardroom, in the manager's office and in the dressing room. Remind them every day that this is the cause. This is what it's all about. This is worth fighting for.

    Do you mean phenomenal?

  4. I don't for a minute believe you are Paton, but wouldn't it be interesting to see the reaction of posters on here if some of the players did actually post? I'd imagine people would ease up off players like Wullie K, Paton, Boyle and Hodge.

Alternatively it could just make things worse, but if a player or manager came on and said "I fecked up, sorry!" (in the case of McCall and Paton's recent 'incidents' in relation to the fans for eg), I wonder if criticism would be as harsh or ill-founded (again in the case of Paton being a 'big time Charlie').

I don't think he was pretending to be Paton there, but was saying that if people can form ill-informed opinions of us mere mortals then they can do the same for jags players.

P.S. Pretty sure some players do at least read these forums, as a couple of players made posts on previous fora.

  5. I met Paton last night (he was out with Boyle, Buchanan and Harkins) and I agree he was a really decent guy. Seemed genuinely happy about the result and said the derssing room was buzzing after the game. Said all the players were especially happy for Boyle who hasn't shown yet what a good player he is. I've met a few players over the years and he seemed nothing like a big time charlie. Mud sticks and all that.

I also agree about the one footedness thing. As long as you are doing the business with your good foot then that's all that matters. Maradona only played with one foot!

This kind of confirms something jags365 and I discussed during the game. We saw Harkins walk over to Paton for a wee chat during a substitution when Dundee had a throw in on the JH side around the half way line. There were two possible conversations they may have had...

GH: So what's the plans tonight then?

PP: Gonnae get together 'bout 8 in Ashton Lane and get pure mingin'.

GH: Gutted, I wanted to head to Viccy's tonight.

    or

GH: See you're still only using that left peg for standing on, Paul.

PP: See you've still got that baldy patch, Gary.

    Edited to correct Harkins' grammar.

  6. Would Annan Athletic or another cup game away not be a good idea? As being a cup tie it means that our club gets around half the takings at least. Any league day away is really just adding money to the other teams coffers

Sounds like a much better idea, but more difficult to plan in advance, as we obviously won't find out about the fixture until after the draw, and we might not even get another away match in the cups, or we might get livi or dundee away :(. I think a lot more people already make the effort to go to cup games too.

  7. I'm running in the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run for the second year in a row, and once again raising funds for The Gambia Solar Project, ran by the EEE dept at Strathclyde Uni. I worked with the project team in 2006, we went to a rural village in Gambia called Sambel Kunda and installed solar panels to power lighting in the school and health clinic, in addition to a laptop and a medical fridge.

You can support them by visiting the Give2Gambia website and selecting "Ronnie's Run" from the drop down menu.

Last year I spotted a few people in Jags colours taking part and cheering their friends on. Anyone running this year?

    BUMP!

I take it from the lack of replies that no one else is running this year, or you just don't want to talk about it? Worried that twinny might start giving out tips on hydration and fat metabolism, or that Ronnie (is he still about) will tell you that you should be ashamed if it takes you more than 32 minutes to run a marathon?

  9. Yeah that would be fine. Here is a list of the player's left for shirt sponsorship:

    Willie K - Home & Away

    Robertson - Away

    Grehan - Away

    Boyle - Home & Away

    Hodge - Home & Away

    Hinchy - Home & Away

I think that most of the boot's are still available so could go for another players boot's?

I think most would prefer a home shirt to an away one. Possibly Hinchy - more value for money in that shirt...

  10. When this issue came up originally the sum being quoted was £15,000. After discussion, this was reduced to £5,000 which at that time coincided with the amount we were planning to pay to the club to fund the prizes for the 1876 Club.

Subsequently, it was agreed that the Trust would not be subject any fee as part of the agreement to migrate to the Centenary Fund although it would still apply for other directors.

The club have also previously confirmed that the Directors are able to make this contribution in kind as well (e.g. by buying hospitality). It certainly doesn't appear as a seperate items in the accounts and will be "lost" in the general income analysis.

I also think McKennan's suggested analysis of the situation is pretty accurate as well. Just another sign of the general dysfunction that operates at board level imo.

I vaguely remember - and I'll be corrected if I'm wrong - that the fee was specially reduced for the trust as it was too difficult to raise £15,000, and that payment in kind was only allowed at first for the trust, but then as it involved a change in constitution, the Directors were also able to do this.

Since the migration to the Centenary Fund I don't see why these changes haven't been reversed (or at least partially reversed) as the trust are no longer required to make the payments.

  11. If anyone in the North East knows the whereabouts of gunman Raoul Moat. Can you please tell him Nacho Novo also sh@gged his burd.

    Haven't seen this posted elsewhere...

    Dear Mr Moat,

It has come to my attention that John Terry has been shagging your missus behind your back whilst you were in jail.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Wayne Bridge

  12. Not in the slightest, their team are over-rated morons. The one thing this world cup has shown is just how good the Sky marketing juggernaut is at convincing us all that the Premiership is the best league in the world. The consensus amongst the media was that the German team were rubbish and the England players are virtually all better, this seemed to be based on nothing more than the fact the Germans all play in the Bundesliga, it seems these days you are nothing unless you play for a Premiership side or Real/Barca, everything else is allegedly second rate.

Why is Hernandez more of a hot prospect than Saurez? Cause he signed for Man United and therefore must be good whilst Suarez has only been scoring in the Dutch league and that is to be scoffed at. Forlan failed at Man United and is hopeless. Klose and Podolski have never scored outside of Germany. Messi has had a poor world cup and is yet to show it on the big stage (despite the fact he has been phenomenal and has done everything but score). Who the hell is Luis Fabiano anyway? Fernando Torres is better than David Villa, he must be, he has made it in the English league. I don’t pretend to be a footballing oracle, far from it, but the ignorance from many who earn their salary for commenting on football is ridiculous.

Yes indeed. So nice to see the 'experts' all scratching their heads, wondering why none of the players showed their 'premier league class'. Sorry guys, but they did.

I agree completely. I think it was when Germany were 2-0 up that the commentators said something along the lines of "When you look at the two squads and the starting elevens, there's very few Germans you'd pick before England players in each respective position."

"Don't gies yer pish!" - I've been shouting this at the TV more often than not when any of the commentators start talking.
