Our Academy system doesn’t work, we’re discarding young players at 17/18 .

Young players all progress and develop at different ages , we’re actually not letting them reach their full development and making a judgment on them at 17 or 18 yrs of age and a lot of them just give up the game completely.

If it’s a financial thing then you’re looking at the SFA to subsidise a little bit to see if some of these youngsters can progress , after all it’s the future of our game .

The problem now is that there are few options for the 17/18 year olds who will not get a game for the first team. If we kept them on and put them out to the lower leagues we would still have to contribute to their wages.

  2. He scored some cracking goals for Kilmarnock and it is a pity that things did not work out for him at Firhill.

Killie supporting friends of mine could not believe the money that they received for him but reckon that he was more of an individual rather than a team player.

I would have hoped that if he had shown any kind of potential in training or for the reserves that he would have been given a chance. The fact that he was not, coupled with  the previous issues in Egypt, seem to indicate deeper issues rather than a fall out with the manager.

However, all that is now irrelevant. Time alone will tell if we have made the correct decision not to have played him regularly.

  3. I had to move down towards the front of the JHS for the Inverness game as I had a friend with me and couldn't sit in my ST seat.

There were three older gentlemen and a lady giving Miles Storey absolute pelters before he even came on. There was a period of respite between 1-1 and 1-2 and then everyone got it!

The usual guys around me seem almost sensible in comparison :thumbsup2:

Not really - it was just pretty obvious that it was unlikely to happen and I stated this - I also asked questions at the AGM and the responses left big gaps

So training ground is just systematic to where we are going as a Club on multi levels in my opinion

"Pretty obvious that it was unlikely to happen"

Bit of a bold statement there, I await to see whether your prediction is correct.

A couple of words that should be pined on our dressing room wall on Saturday  "  remember Newport County.." .just in case we think  that we have just  to turn up  and the tie is ours.....................

I think that "remember East Fife" would suffice!

  6. From the JHS it looked like we were denied a stonewall penalty, a clear barge.  Pretty naïve by Caldwell re the sending off, Harkins should have been subbed long before the red card as his contribution had dwindled and he was on a yellow. Dallas was incredibly inconsistent . I cannot understand why he did not book at least 3 other Falkirk players either for fouls or dissent.  The BBC stats indicate considerably more fouls committed by Falkirk and yet we are the team reduced to 10 men.

Osman looks a very poor signing by Falkirk.

  7. I will be exceedingly underwhelmed and disappointed by whoever we sign next. It is likely that he will have played for someone else in his career and fans of other Clubs might not think that he is very good.

    Just getting this in early.

  8. We were extremely poor in the first half yesterday, Keown looked as if he had never played football before in his life Young Andy McCarthy looked out of his depth. Morton's first goal came from a punt up the park from their keeper, we were completely disorganised.

We were a bit better in the second half and the goal was excellent, their second goal came from a misplaced cross that landed at the edge of their 18 yd box, we had opportunities to close down/pull down their guy on the way through.

Most of the guys that we had on the pitch are capable of much better, how many times over the years have we watched opposition teams of much less ability grind out results? Just now we do not have a clue how to even hold out for a draw.

I am fed up with the hard luck stories, we could have had a penalty, the offside goal would have stood if Doolan did not touch it and so on.

We are not organised and only a few of the team seem capable of putting in a full ninety minutes. Only the manager can change that, so far he seems incapable of doing this

Our only target now is survival, I do not care who we bring in. We have to accept that unless things change radically over the next few weeks that a second relegation is the likely result.

Over the years I have watched many poor players at Firhill, but rarely have I watched such a regular disorganised shambles.

We were wondering what Stuart was thinking when he went down with a nasty one on Saturday.

Its good for him and good for us too! He’s hopefully going on to legendary  status.

    The fight back starts now.

Great news but I still take a  sharp intake of breath when he launches into a tackle. (Injury risk and/or booking).

Re the 2nd part of Kemo's splendid post re the Trust. I thought the gentleman (sorry forgotten name) that spoke was most articulate. I am tho' a wee bit confused. He said his responsibility on the Trust Board was matchday experience and he'd welcome suggestions/feedback etc. All no doubt worthwhile but I thought we already had a Supporters Liaison Officer (Beth).

Kemo already covered my thoughts re the manager's appraisal of performance and everyone can hear the Q & A in its entirety. While i agree with Caldwell that the last three games have shown an improvement and the team now looks more compact that improvement had come from rock bottom. Also the tightening up of the side effectively means playing a fair bit narrower in attack. Hence so little in the way of clear cut chances.

We're maybe at the stage of being theoretically hard to beat IF we scored goals. In reality we lose a goal a game and still drop eight points from those three "improved" performances. Just as worrying is if anything there's been no improvement since the ICT match.  All this suggests a long slow improvement "process" designed to steer us clear of relegation and that's putting an extremely positive spin on what in reality is a dire situation.

Was it Alan Caldwell (no relation)? I think that he is the Trust match day experience rep.

  11. I thought that we started brightly and then defensive disaster struck...……..again .

Dools looked isolated, Storey was non existent and Bannigan increasingly frantic. We created some chances but finished the game punting the ball up the park to two relative strangers who looked like the did not know what they were supposed to be doing.

The referee was pretty weak with some of the fouls, Draper should have been off long before his second yellow for the horrendous tackle on Bannigan. We have to be much stronger on the ball.

Something has to change as we show no sign of improvement and are a times completely devoid of ideas.
