  1. I wouldn't say Archie can do nothing about the situation. With the Manager and Assistant both being defenders, this nonsense should be drilled out of the players. These are mistakes that are expected the first few weeks into the season, not in January.

And if Archie cannot drill the mistakes out in training, then he as to draft replacements in, and preferably not the last week in January, but ASAP.

Whilst I see the point you've put across, I don't agree that intensive training guarantees mistakes being cut out.

Once the players cross the white line it is up to them. Archie doesn't control their brains. We desperately lack a leader and a vocal presence on the pitch.

  2. Don't know why we bothered rushing through the signing. Osbourne, Welsh and Bannigan out and he is on the bench. Midfield have a poor game and he doesn't even come on!

Maybe he isn't "match fit" but still seems confusing. Good to have him back at Firhill on a long deal though.

    Hindsight, eh?

  3. The Balatoni and Piccolo pairing at the back does just not work. Defended like a pair of clowns today.

The lack of communication between players in the defence, in particular is a shambles. It's even more noticeable and apparent if you're in the North Stand. The only time Balatoni and Piccolo communicate is when they're moaning as to who is to blame for an opposition near miss/missed header/marker peeling off and nearly scoring incident.

County have in their team what we drastically need - experience, vocal presences over the pitch and a street wise mentality. From when we went 3v1 up to when Kettlewell was sent off was torture to watch for us. We completely shat it.

Archie's interview with the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/2570029

How many times have we heard the same old story from the gaffer?

And how many time do individual stupid mistakes in defence cost us valuable points? Stupid basic decision making and incidents Archie can do nothing about.

  4. The management team have shown a lot of faith in Gary Fraser. Here's hoping he can screw the nut and repay them and us on the pitch.

Bolton's horrific financial state, at present must have played a role in us managing to get him on a permanent deal.

  5. It would always be great coming back from Edinburgh with three points in recent times, obviously with us being the underdog on pretty much all of those occasions. What made our victory at Tynecastle all the more sweeter, for me was that we were kicking them when they were down.

It must be, and seemingly it will continue to be one of their lowest ebbs in their history and I hope that continues for as long as possible.

  6. Terrible news about Osbourne. I thought he was immense up in Inverness when we won. Immense in the Celtic game at Firhill too. Those two, I'd say were his best games, out the lot for us I think.

We, by that I mean the Club should be supporting him through this spell on the sidelines and hopefully in the summer, come what may we can open new discussions and see how things go with view to a new deal.

  7. It's all good talking about getting in more attacking players but that won't change our route problem - conceding goals.

I think an experienced defender should be our number one priority in the window. That way Muirhead can be used as an option in midfield until others come back from injury. That said, I feel another midfielder in needed too.

  8. All the best to Shug.

I hope he finds another club soon.

Also I hope this frees up some wages to bring in another midfielder before Saturday.

    This.

Reading between the lines, you'd like to think Archie has someone lined up currently and any potential stumbling block was us freeing up wages for any signing to materialize.

  9. Re. Bannigan, I thought it was two tired challenges from a player who's completely bossed two midfields in the space of four days. Not going to get on the lad's back over it.

I myself at the time thought it was a poor pass from Sinclair. In saying that, to cut Sinclair some slack we were in that spell when, eventually we got the ball we were doing that panicky/don't know how to take a touch and calm it down routine.

If Bannigan had shat out the challenge when the whole crowd was nervy and just waiting for the final whistle then we'd all of been on Bannigan's back. No doubt about that.

Here's hoping Forbes can grasp this chance on Saturday vs County, where a set piece scenario could be the key to us getting us a victory.

  10. Amazing what a victory and the three points against Hearts can do to some who seem awfully snappy and dismissive towards basic facts that have been backed up all season long from various different forums.

Basic fact: all clubs will communicate with one another and give to them a rough estimate of what the away support will be. Thistle and Hearts will have had that conversation before the game today and if the figures quoted by a policeman outside the game (I myself was 5 yards away from) are true then, whoever at PTFC got the crowd estimate drastically wrong.

Lets not kid ourselves on here, if we had lost the game then this would be far greater an issue than it is on here.

  11. Never ceases to amaze how some folk on here are incapable of taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture. Our frustrations at the moment are a big ******* massive snowball effect of stupid mistakes at the back and players missing sitters.

Without doubt, the results fall at the door of the manager. That said, the management has the team creating chances, the players are not taking them. On-on-ones, failing to hit the target from 5 yards out with half the goal open are but some of the glaring sitters we seem to be unable to take. That is not the managements fault. Then there's the lapses of concentration and naivety at the back which has been our downfall. We badly need experience at the back.

These are the players Archie has got to work with though. With the right additions I think our fortunes will improve.

  12. I was absolutely over the moon when he signed a two year deal in the summer, after being paranoid other clubs might take a punt on him. I knew he could make the step up and play a vital role in scoring the goals to help us survive this season. So far, he was proved it and he'll only get better.

    He is my favourite player.

  13. I couldn't make it along tonight and don't post on twitter so, evidently I'm not fully in the in the know about the incident in question. POTM has not responded as yet but I'll take Willjag and LIB's word for it that this was something that my argument, previously posted can't defend. It's rather worrying, as he showed bags of potential in the first few games.

It will be interesting to see Archie's stance on this.
