  1. Can you imagine an inform Toastie, or Albert Craig or King of Spain, or Callum Campbell in that team with 27 corners in 4 games.......... we'd have the keepers union up in arms (No pun intended)

I was watching a youtube compilation of toastie and it reminded me how great he was for us, Gereee looked amazing too in some clips, all legs and arms but he could hold it up great, lay it off perfectly and scored more than a few in his time. Also talking about his flailing arms just remembered me about the game against the blue ugly sister that he got sent off for waving his arms about after a poor offside? decision, he didn't know the defender had walked right up behind him and he accidentally caught him in the face. Really, really poor refereeing.
  2. One of the most tireless and hard working players to play for Scotland in recent memory, ALWAYS gave 100% effort and chased every long ball and lost cause, completely agree with stillresigned about his club career but couldn't fault him for his country, a great example to any aspiring player on how to make the most of the (decent) talent you have, always proud to play for his country.

I was speaking to a few people who were at the Wembley game and they said off the ball he was dragging defenders all over the park and hassling players every time the ball went into the England half, pressurising defenders, trying to keep the ball in their half, reducing easy passing options and being a general pain in the backside - everything defenders hate.

Thanks Kenny and I'm sure you will be cheering and agonising from the sidelines over every kick with the rest of us from now on.

  3. That's wierd, my cousin, who stopped attending Firhill in early 80's is also coming out of retirement to see Jags at St Mirren.. Hope we can get a bumper crowd against Aberdeen too

I hope so, I'm heading down for the Aberdeen game with three of the uninitiated (the're Dons fans), I'll also be taking my boy and his cousin from Maryhill (who still likes one of the ugly sisters - I'm working on him). My wee boy who's only 5 has now been to three games and on Friday he begged his mum to let him watch the game v Hearts, he was gutted when they equalised!! Living in the north east I'd tried not to influence him too much as I do believe in supporting your local team! Glad to say he's a fully fledged Jaggo now and my conscience is (mostly) clear. (Mostly as I've only ever taken him to Thistle games) :whistling:

  4. Just to be clear these are not concerns that I have personally expressed or that have directly affected me, the main complaint I had was over the quality and quantity of food at the kiosks (I just don't use them anymore now). This thread was simply to try and bring things into a single point in case anyone did want to know what fans thought or to add new genuine feedback. Apologies if that wasnt clear enough.

  5. From reading several of the threads there are quite a few items coming up about the club that are causing some fans concern (comments in "Strips & merchandise for next season" and "Potential Heartsache" to name just two), a few comments are general complaints about poor communication although some are fairly serious and could benefit from being addressed or at least clarified by the club.

I'm not sure who reads all of the posts in every topic although though folk could put them in one single thread that maybe someone from the club could be directed to? At the very least it should help keep things all in one place.

These are the ones I can remember so far. I've tried to list the stuff which is not just about one persons experience or just a moan and collate the significant comments and apologies for any that I've not seen or have just missed.

    Main stand

What standard of toilet and washing facilities does it have?

Why upgrade the directors area? especially when (potentially) the funds could have been spent on the other paying public areas in the stand?

Will Propco sell it back to the club and at what cost?

Long term is it to be refurbished or demolished? (may need to keep the facade?)

    Bing!

Why demolish the terrace? (why not just leave it alone and not use it/not get a safety certificate for it?)

Will Propco sell it back to the club and at what cost?

Any medium/long term plans for this area?

    North Stand

None? Has all now beeen covered through club communication (albeit slow and showing some disregard for the fans and the clubs own earlier assurances)

Season tickets - hopefully sorted now but why was this such a shambles?

    TAG

Why has this not been moved forward and promoted more? what started as a great idea has now left a lot of fans disenfranchised with it.

When/Will this be brought back on track and run properly?

Centenary draw - Why is this not taking place monthly without fail, seems to be losing fans confidence in it and comprimising it's integrity?

Office staff leaving - Looks like we got caught short with this, did we receive notice and if recruiting is that difficult could medium term temp/agency staff not have be recruited to keep things going over the summer?

DVD - why did this not happen at the end of the season and what are the plans? - pre Christmas release?

Merchandise - Location of the shop is not great, have the club plans to re-open a shop at Firhill?

    Catering

Hospitality - Do the club benfit directly from this for every person turning up?

What is being done about the reported poor hygeine standards (this was a while back)?

Kiosks - This is absolutely terrible

The quality of the food is extremely poor

Items are regularly not available (how could kiosks have no water just 30 minutes into the first home game of the season?)

Hygeine practices are concerning, gloves are being used but staff handle cash and then food, then cash again with the same gloves that also have fingers sticking through!

Did the club make significant income from selling the franchise, and could it be better served with being run directly?

Can the club remove the current company and bring in someone better? (suggestion for Greggs or even the new wee cafe near the Star)

Get Archie signed up for longer please

Get ATS, Forbes, Welsh & Lawless signed up for longer please.

Beginning to regret starting this although it's typed up now.

  6. ^ Agree with pretty much all of that, no worries about the longer contracted players and Archie for this season as a minimum although I do wonder if we would be tempted by decent offers (i.e. the £250K+ ones other clubs often get for young players) for one or more of the four mentioned. Archie seems confident in the whole squad and I'd wonder if he'd feel that he could fill one or two gaps providing the club benefitted significantly?

Hope we stick with who we have right enough and the fab four sign extensions too. Definitely a good time to be a jaggo.

  7. Nobbo tipped us for relegation saying that his beloved Hearts should target us as the team to catch even with a 15pt deficit. Dung said similar!! Both said we were going down

To be fair to him he admitted that this was based on Hearts chasing whoever was promoted and before a ball was kicked, he has now revised his thoughts and that having watched Thistle he is impressed with how composed the players are and how much good football we play. He said a lot of good stuff about Thistle today and I give him credit for his analysis and views on the team today.

  8. I think you've got it pretty much spot on. No Welsh though? Archie's got good options.

Welsh for Forbes, Fraser or Bannigan and there's Murray for Fraser or Bannigan.

No place for Baird? I though he was one of the players most interested and who worked hard all night against Ayr, I'd definitely see him in the squad if not the starting 11. I do like players who work hard all game and keep on digging, one of the characteristics Baird has and I think we will really need this season.

  9. Its something of a disgrace that this is still a live issue, if the club decided to use the Main Stand to house visiting supporters then surely they have a duty of care to ensure that the facilities are up to scratch. The days when football supporters will accept any environment just to see the game are thankfully long gone. All joking aside, it is fundamentally wrong to expect visiting supporters to be happy with poorer basic standards than our own support would expect and in this day and age there is no excuse for it.

Does this type of thing not come under requirements as part of obtaining a safety certificate for the stand? If so it must at least meet minimum requirements? Fair enough if the club/propco could or should really have improved it further to provide better facilities although I'd hope that toilets and appropriate hygiene facilities would be a part of the overall requirement for the building standards and safety.
  10. Fox's kit looked more orange to me. If you go into the shop, you can buy the green one. They even had it in mini kids sizes which looked very cute!

Bought the green top for my 5 year old today, it looks pretty good and he loves it, he hates being in goal but likes the top. I also got him the home strip but he just wants to wear the keepers top. Even had to wash it tonight after the game so he can wear it again tomorrow!

  11. I missed the programme sellers and wondered if I could buy one (from Friday's game) before the Ayr game or at some point Mon or Tue during business hours. Could someone confirm that their are some left and its possible to buy them? I'd like two if they are still available.

  12. Totally agree, was there with two youngsters, macaroni pies were horrible and they had no Capri sun, water or other juice left! This was about 20 mins into the 1st half!!! One needed the inevitable early pee and I thought I'd also get some things in early before the rush and stuff sold out! As mentioned surely a half decent firm would be intetsted in getting involved in our grub?

  13.

    That's fantastic!

Yeah, plenty Thistle fans and Utd had a good few too, let's hope for similar crowds and enthusiasm all season. Mon the Jags! It was pretty noisy all through the game and the songs to Goodwillie were funny.

  14. Thanks Stewarty and Partick76, looking forward to the game and hopefully turning my nephew into a jags fan (taking him on Tuesday too - two wins, good goals and the great atmosphere should just about do it!!!) Unfortunately he's over at the dark side right now, well on one side of it!

  15. Played Le Havre @ Firhill around 1998 and got cuffed 0-3 or 0-4.

I was at that game, cheap hospitality and frogs legs and the like on offer! Think we also played Sheffield Wed (or similar - someone like Steve Bruce was Gaffer?) and it was a double programme!

  16. Same here, I was planning on travelling down and taking my son to his first home game, well that won't be happening now. Shame as I thought the atmosphere would be something he'd remember for a lifetime.

I am in the same boat. Scared to break it to my son he can't go.

Total pish, flag day is ruined for him.
