  1. Nobbo tipped us for relegation saying that his beloved Hearts should target us as the team to catch even with a 15pt deficit. Dung said similar!! Both said we were going down

To be fair to him he admitted that this was based on Hearts chasing whoever was promoted and before a ball was kicked, he has now revised his thoughts and that having watched Thistle he is impressed with how composed the players are and how much good football we play. He said a lot of good stuff about Thistle today and I give him credit for his analysis and views on the team today.

  2. I think you've got it pretty much spot on. No Welsh though? Archie's got good options.

Welsh for Forbes, Fraser or Bannigan and there's Murray for Fraser or Bannigan.

No place for Baird? I though he was one of the players most interested and who worked hard all night against Ayr, I'd definitely see him in the squad if not the starting 11. I do like players who work hard all game and keep on digging, one of the characteristics Baird has and I think we will really need this season.

  3. Its something of a disgrace that this is still a live issue, if the club decided to use the Main Stand to house visiting supporters then surely they have a duty of care to ensure that the facilities are up to scratch. The days when football supporters will accept any environment just to see the game are thankfully long gone. All joking aside, it is fundamentally wrong to expect visiting supporters to be happy with poorer basic standards than our own support would expect and in this day and age there is no excuse for it.

Does this type of thing not come under requirements as part of obtaining a safety certificate for the stand? If so it must at least meet minimum requirements? Fair enough if the club/propco could or should really have improved it further to provide better facilities although I'd hope that toilets and appropriate hygiene facilities would be a part of the overall requirement for the building standards and safety.
  4. Fox's kit looked more orange to me. If you go into the shop, you can buy the green one. They even had it in mini kids sizes which looked very cute!

Bought the green top for my 5 year old today, it looks pretty good and he loves it, he hates being in goal but likes the top. I also got him the home strip but he just wants to wear the keepers top. Even had to wash it tonight after the game so he can wear it again tomorrow!

  5. I missed the programme sellers and wondered if I could buy one (from Friday's game) before the Ayr game or at some point Mon or Tue during business hours. Could someone confirm that their are some left and its possible to buy them? I'd like two if they are still available.

  6. Totally agree, was there with two youngsters, macaroni pies were horrible and they had no Capri sun, water or other juice left! This was about 20 mins into the 1st half!!! One needed the inevitable early pee and I thought I'd also get some things in early before the rush and stuff sold out! As mentioned surely a half decent firm would be intetsted in getting involved in our grub?

  7.

    That's fantastic!

Yeah, plenty Thistle fans and Utd had a good few too, let's hope for similar crowds and enthusiasm all season. Mon the Jags! It was pretty noisy all through the game and the songs to Goodwillie were funny.

  8. Thanks Stewarty and Partick76, looking forward to the game and hopefully turning my nephew into a jags fan (taking him on Tuesday too - two wins, good goals and the great atmosphere should just about do it!!!) Unfortunately he's over at the dark side right now, well on one side of it!

  9. Played Le Havre @ Firhill around 1998 and got cuffed 0-3 or 0-4.

I was at that game, cheap hospitality and frogs legs and the like on offer! Think we also played Sheffield Wed (or similar - someone like Steve Bruce was Gaffer?) and it was a double programme!

  10. Same here, I was planning on travelling down and taking my son to his first home game, well that won't be happening now. Shame as I thought the atmosphere would be something he'd remember for a lifetime.

I am in the same boat. Scared to break it to my son he can't go.

Total pish, flag day is ruined for him.

  11. Reads like we've been bullied by the police and the council. Gutted for the 12th man.

Did Beattie consider banning them from this match entirely?

What are next steps from OneThistle?

Merely Celtic using their 12th and 13th men to get their own way it looks like, we are bound by a requirement to heed advice, guidance and recommendations on safety and security (board quite rightly protecting themselves) however I'm sure I read earlier in this thread that Celtic fans are housed in wooden stands at other grounds? If this is the case why would Thistle be singled out and not permitted to allow them to use this type of stand at our patch?

This might be wrong and they are actually not allowed in other wooden stands although the whole issue does look like the Police and GCC coming up with "guidance" to make their lives easier without having to actually do anything about the root cause of the potential problem(s).

  12. No, it was a Saturday. Freezing wind blowing in off the North Sea. Must have been the coldest game I've ever been at!

Cheers Willjag, I remember the floodlights on and must have thought it was midweek, winter and freezing cold is about right, pretty sure the home fans walked past us at half time to change ends too! A few goals and a dramatic winner when it looked like a lost cause (did Billy McDonald or Derek Lyle score that night?).
  13. *******! I have been wanting to go to Abroath for ages but I am away on holiday the day of that game. :wall:

I remember being at a midweek (cup) game that we ended up with just 8 men, from memory it was a freezing cold midweek night (or maybe a Monday?) and Thistle were pretty poor, we won the game although not one of the most memorable grounds to visit.

  14. All Nacho Novo's fault, really late tackle in a game against Raith Rovers :mad2:

Aye I remember that. David was a top bloke when he was at Thistle, same as Alan Morgan, two of the players who were really good guys, always time to speak with people and engage with fans. Shame they both got injured as they both had a fair bit of talent too.

  15. It could be used as a cemetery for Jags fans, the club would make money by selling the plot for your coffin, we get to follow Thistle forever and ever (copyright: Joe the Jag).

In the short term, just cut the grass back and dye or paint it red and yellow stripes every month with advertising dyed/painted on in the same way that you see on the pitch of the Six Nations.
