  1. I remember losing 1 0 at Dens in 1970 when we were in the 2nd division. Cup game when decisions went to the home side. What happened next season will always be with me. Had an exciting team then. Now? Play offs our best bet. Arbroath Morton or Ayr if we get that far. Capable of doing it but Brian Graham ffs. Sena ffs. Jags all over am afraid.

What most of us already think, LIB.

Is there a single person on this forum who honestly believes that Caldwell will bring us promotion (which is what he was employed to do)?

I very much doubt it. Do we wait for Chesterfield levels of disaster or twist now. Least likely option is he turns it around. Utferly soul destroying watching this shambles. I dont care about his personality but do care he is one rotten manager. Tactically inept .demotivating.And utterly clueless.

You may well be correct but there's plenty of occasions when best pals have taken over as manager.

Can't think of the scenario where this could come about.  A new manager is appointed with Doolan returning as assistant manager. To qualify that it's head before heart as I honestly believe Kris has a lot to offer off the field even if no longer on the pitch.

Bunter and Doolz would b well worth a shout

Archie..... No, not a call to bring him back!

But, almost a year since he got sacked, and no sign of him getting back into the game. Anybody think that he'll get another shot somewhere, or did the spectacular repeated failures after the hazy days of the top six -- the absolute tankings we took then, the terrible signings, the naive belief that long-term injured players would magically make us good again, the lack of motivation in the team when it really mattered -- finish him for good as a manager?

Probably. Think the time was right when Shrewsbury were intersted. A Jags legend. Anyone but GC btw

That in all honesty is total rubbish .... the best thing for Caldwell’s career is clearly  not to get sacked by us if he does I suspect his managerial career is over ... he may be making wrong decisions in your view but he does want to win football matches

But has no clue how to win games. Even from 2 up after 70

  6. Hello hello how do you do? Times have maybe changed but in truth our song is not rooted in bigotry. The arse cheeks get a free pass every week when they are both up to their knees in bigotry. That bein said we are n should always be a family club so fair enough. The shed was the biggest blow.

  7. Been a Jag for as long as i can remember (now 62) and i can never think of another time a legend was treated like this. Never mind the manner it was done but the sheer stupidity of it in footballing terms speaks volumes.

Dont recognise the club these days. Toxic.

Doolz is a Thistle man.So much so that when bigger clubs came calling he chose to stay. While maintaining a level of consistency at SPL level for years he found himself behind Lyle Taylor, Connor Sammon and Ade Azeez ffs!!. Despite all this he maintained his professionalism and dignity throughout.

How can you expect him to continue when you play 10 donkeys beside him, isolate him and shove him in the middle of the park ?. This and the fact we'd played gutless shite for 18 months with no service to the lone striker. This smacks of a decision that has little to do with footballing issues.

Then we come to the lack of class shown by those in charge. Shame on the lot of them. Hope to see him back here soon. Best of luck Kris. A hero to us Jags.

I think that speaks volumes. Even with the bunnett in charge, if memory serves me well, we took a sizeable crowd to tynecastle. With the prospect of beating an average Hearts team a semi final against inverness, and we only took a paltry support, it would surely represent a vote of no confidence in the team in its entirety.

Was 2006 and george burleys hearts. Early kick off. Same day as Calcutta cup match at murrayfield. ( which we won) Am only saying cos am sure its gud to remember gr8 away days. Mon e jags. Seen us gub them b4 there.

  9. I had the great pleasure of introducing my boy and nephew to the jags when we were lucky enough to have the legend John Lambie in charge. Through thick and thin they've stuck with it. Even through the bunnet years. The 1 0 loss at Stirling and 4 0 at home to Clyde sticking long in the memory. Archie inherited a fine young team from JMac although the founds were built by the current Ayr manager who could get us out of this mess if he came back.

Archie always had difficult seasons in the SPL and the top 6 was hardly comfy although very welcome. You dont get comfortable for long being a Jag.

Archie lost the plot and was emptied at least 6 months too late. However he was 10 tomes more aware than this total disaster Caldwell who is taking us to the seaside. We need rid now.

The board needs to approach Mr MCall as any cost will be offset by us not getting relegated

     Just do one Caldwell.

My grandson is now of an age now i want to take him but I dont want to expose him to that shite.Thistle aint fun anymore.

The board need to act or **** off as well.

    What a mess

  10. Considering Archie delivered 2 seasons of shite right through transfer windows into the bargain was happy with the change. Since then the tactical ineptitude and utter bullshit coming from management has given me the fear.  Superb perfomances? Wtf.  Consistent picking of no mark duds while players we know can perform are played out of position if at all. The January window has to be a success but am scared that just wont happen. Am not doubting that the signings made are better than some of the guff Archie brought in but has GC shown any siggn of bein able to ditch this losers mentality. Or play them in effective positions. ???. Has to be soon. Tannadice would b a good start.

Size of budget etc is irrelevant. The size of our budget did not make our right back charge towards his own goal against Ayr or our team keep hammering high balls up in the air against Livingstone in the play offs.  In both cases our size of budget should have meant we won both games.

People are busy here trying to outdo each other with clever stats and smart remarks. Meanwhile, the club is in a downward spiral.  Fans are starting to drift and the club badly needs something to change on the park. The home form v away form  is also not particularily relevant.  Generally speaking the team is not performing, the manager is not performing and the board look totally out of their depth.

Past records are not relevant, whatever the management have done for us in the past doesn’t matter. Right now they do not seem to have the ability to change things. The football we are watching is terrible. We have dropped down a division and playing against easier opposition but the exact same issues are being rolled out on here on the Monday morning.

Every time I come on here I read …. ‘another four games then we will see where we are’, then I’ll come on four weeks later and read… ‘another 4 weeks and we’ll see where we are’ and so on.  The club is adrift and rudderless and going nowhere.

Generally the players we have are good enough to get us promoted but they are making repeated mistakes and seem hamstrung by a lack of tactics.  They need direction and someone to tell them mistakes are unacceptable. We have a young lad who seems to get recognition everywhere as an up and coming talent but we don’t give him any game time. We have a full back who’s going through a bad spell so we give him the captaincy!

If we beat Ross County at the weekend everybody will be jubilant and we will keep rolling on but if we look at the big picture we are stale and going nowhere. Go back just a year and I would have headed to games against Hearts, Kilmarnock, Livingstone etc and been confident we could beat them. Now I wouldn’t even go for fear of the outcome. They all made good decisions that changed the direction of their clubs -  we need to do the same. The management team have served their purpose and it’s time to move on.   Forget about budgets and isolated wins. Who is enjoying what they are watching at the moment and why would anybody with the good of the club at heart want us to keep going the way we are?

Superb post. Despite differing opinions on here everyone has the Jags at heart. Dont get up to firhill as often as id like but every game was terrible from us. If we dont initiate drastic change we will struggle to even stay in this league. No one wants that. Admired Archie as a playing ldgend but surely its overdue that we arest this alarming decline. A decline not just with the mince on the park but in attendances and ambition. Sad to see after the oltimism 2 years ago. Mon the Jags

I’m in no way defending Archibald, but how many of the top 6  side were inherited by previous managers?

  12. Its quite an achievement to take a top six spl side that you inherited from previous mansgers and in the space of 18 months  have us struggling in the league below. Destroyed the promotion winning side over 4 years and replaced it with negative unprofessional gutless pish. But no to worry. Our  manager is  untouchable. Sadly there is only one way we are going unless it all changes. THis club and its  fans deserve better than this shite
