Did you know it was actually former player Gary Fraser who recommended him to us

I did indeed. McBeth mentioned that in his interview on YouTube. There must be more players like him out there.

Thought McInroy, Robinson, MC Beth, were outstanding today, for someone who was playing Junior football 2/ 3 months ago MC Beth has been a real find,  one of Doolans best.. How many others are out there...???????

Was saying exactly this to my pal at the game today. Maybe we should be looking at the Juniors rather than loanees from the OF? You can see how much it means for McBeth to be part of the club and I would love to see more players with that kind of desire than pampered OF cast offs.

Mitchell was fine today - badly let down by his defence for the goal.

McBeth looked a natural at CB. Read the game well, and his tackling was clean. Robbie Muirhead is a handful, and, goal apart, McBeth kept him quiet throughout.

What was noticeable to me was that it appeared that McBeth was the dominant CB calling the shots with Aero falling into line.

Midfield was OK. Neilson has something in that position,  but has to think and act more quickly to be truly dominant in that area of the field.

Scott Robinson - love this guy. His work rate is phenomenal. He is the best foil for Brian Graham that doesn't disrupt the formation, and his leap for a guy of average height is truly impressive. Well merited MoM today.

Going forward, perhaps McBeth could cement the dominant CB role??

100 % agree about Robinson.  The amount of headers he won against a big Morton defence and midfield was amazing. I also noticed how much big Luke was bossing the defence too. BBG as captain and mcbeth as vice captain was what it looked like.

  4. That was a satisfying win today. There was a lot of emotion in the stands today and a lot of standing ovations. I though BBG and Robinson were outstanding today. McBeth was immense, as was McInroy. Nice to have a win to celebrate for a change on a Saturday night. Hic.

I was in the JL stand so might of missed something, but I thought McBeth’s booking was for pulling a player back (albeit rugby style) to prevent a quick counter attack rather than any kicking hard. If anything it was to me the very definition of a professional foul typically described by pundits as a good booking or taking one for the team

Aye, it was the most obvious 'He's no getting past me' foul I've ever seen- he was booked for that then had a kick at one of them after that and got a talking to by the ref- you could see he was worried about getting sent off after that.

  6. Agree with most of the thoughts about this one. Imrie will fire them up and they'll be as physical as they can get away with. Maybe it's time to think about the way Luke McBeth plays-he has that 'kick the fecker hard' Juniors approach ( though it very nearly got him sent off on Tuesday) and some of our other players could maybe learn a bit from him. Let Morton know they're in a physical game from the first whistle.

Doolan doesn’t know how to set up a team in any other formation from what we currently play.

His philosophy has always been “you score 3, we’ll score 4”. Sadly our defence is so bad we can’t score enough goals any more.

He needs to show he can change this and quickly, the rest of the league have caught us up very quickly.

That back 5 can’t start again on Saturday. Even bring in another defender and play 3 at the back with McMillan and Milne pushed on.

Anything but chucking the same 11 out again and hoping for a change.

Harry and Jack plus anyone else who's not Aero or Neilson. Anyone else.

  8. Absolutely appalling referee performance last night-the worst I've ever seen ( in many years of watching shite referees). Our defence is the issue, quite clearly. However, I'm also not sure as a unit they would have felt confident with the young guy between the sticks. Can't be easy being thrown in to a game like that but his lack of confidence must have been an influence on the 4 in front of him.
