What was Graham's offence that led to the red card?

Wasn't obvious to me at the time, but the fact that there was little protest suggests it was a stick-on.

That did not cost us the game though.

We followed up two recent howling home performances with ......................another howling home performance. And t6hat was already clear long before half-time.

Lawless wasn't fully fit - not his fault.

The two positives - such as they were - McAvoy who looked steady and composed, and Turner who looks a class above when he's played in his proper position.

Danny Mullen might be decent playing off a fit Brian Graham, but he is never a lone striker. No, no, and no once more.

Some very choice sweary words directed towards the ref and his parentage I believe

  2. Last week and this week have been utterly appalling. Queens Park are showing how to play the game on limited resources and a small fan base. I often wonder as a ST holder how folk must feel who hand over cash on the day to watch what I watched last week and today. Thoroughly regretting paying for hospitality and the bus from Firhill for Ibrox

100% right with your comments, just listened to MCCalls post match comments on Jagzone basically just defending himself ( should have had 2 pens , great record 13 points from 18 )

If you were at the game we were shocking , plenty of the ball first half without really creating.

Second half John Rankin nullified our wing backs , scored and it was game over.

Totally get what he says about inexperienced bench but they shouldn’t be , instead of kissing Sevco’s arse and developing their players ( Weston and McKinnon) we should be pushing our own players on to see if they can make the grade , guys like James Lyon and Zander McKenzie should be given starts to see if they can step up .

McCall has been here for the best part of 3 years  and possibly 6 transfer windows and I believe he’s been supported ably by previous BOD’s and we’re no further forward as a Club

Guys like Owen Coyle at Queens Park and even McPake at Dunfermline seem to build squads within a few transfer windows, we just seem to be plodding on.

Time for a change , even untried guys like Dools / Brian Graham should be given a shot at it .

New manager for next season with Doolan as assistant.

Agree with you. Both Lyon and McKenzie are good players. The problem is the lack of match experience for them both. If they don't get game time then they don't get the chance to develop guile or reading the game. Catch 22. Owen Coyle has shown what you can do if you coach a team and individual players properly. I've been really impressed with QP every time we've played them....they attack and defend as a team at pace.

I agree with all of that and especially the last paragraph. Sylvia by Focus is an essential part of the Firhill experience and has to be given top billing in any playlist

Agree 100 percent. I don't think there is another club anywhere which comes on to the pitch to 70s Dutch prog.

Our pressure on the ball is awful and has been all season. Lost count of the number of times that one player put good pressure on but no one cut off the out ball - far too easy to play through.

What a save that was from Sneddon at 0-0

Agreed. Superb save. Total goalkeeper instinct that one. After that wobble at the start of the season, Sneddon has been great.

Mullin really poor and Turner and even Milne not quite on it. Presumably Dowds comes on. What other options do we have? Might have been handy to have had Weston.

Banzo and McMillan only pass marks for me. No idea what happened for the penalty.

Harry isn't having his best game for sure. For me , we need Dowds on no matter what. No one is pressurising their defence through the middle.

  8. Absolutely superb to have him back. I've got no doubt Doolz will manage the club at some point in the future. Absolute legend and one of the nicest guys in football. I hope Caldwell is reading this news-finally Doolan being treated as he should have been.

    Squiddy as kit man?

Sorry can't agree with you. Put two upfront and we'll revert to hoofball. Anyway it's fairly obvious we need two mids in front of the defence, albeit to do the job of one competent ball winner. I wouldn't drop Fitzpatrick (Tiffoney), Lawless or Turner just to accommodate a rather immobile forward. I would tho' emphasise the importance of those three I mention to not leave Graham isolated.

Still think our problem is too many balls being knocked in to the box and Graham not getting on to enough of them. Totally agree with you about hoofball....that's the last thing I want to watch.

  10. Enjoyed the win after last week. However, imo we can't continue to play with Graham on his own up front. I would like to see Graham and Dowds start together. Again, big Anton had very little time to make an impact with the short time he was on. I also felt for Lawless today. There's no point playing him in  a position where he's fighting for long balls or where he's having to constantly scrap with the opposition to get the ball.

Can't argue with the result. Queens Park started brightly and their forwards were carrying the ball into the final third and indeed the Thistle box with ease and grabbed  the opener.

Was mostly Thistle and looked decent in patches but Ferrie only had one good save and Hodson rattled the woodwork early in the second half.

We huffed and puffed but it was QP who blew out the lights of the contest with a nice goal on the break..

Big win for the home(from hone) team and we are looking at the playoffs rather than the title but perhaps more twists and turns to come.

Usual shambles at the turnstiles and it took about half an hour to get a pie apparently.

On a slightly more serious note I headed down the stairs at the back of the shed and went on my c**t on black ice. Luckily just burst my arm a wee bit and nothing broken but you'd think they'd have at least scattered some grit on them? Hopefully everyone else got out without mishap.

Think we were just behind you when you went on your erse. Hope you're ok.

    Really frustrating day today.

Got into the ground 10 minutes late to find out we were already 1 down due to the shambles of a turnstile system. I don't know why they didn't delay the kick off when there were clearly hundreds outside at 3 o'clock.

Thought we played ok for the second 25 minutes of the first half. Got better with Hodson in place of MacKinnon but when Graham got subbed with Fitzpatrick we had nothing up front. Dowds was well out of sorts, Mullen anonymous and Weston whilst full of running still looks too lightweight.

Referee was clueless. Completely taken in by McPake rolling about and ended up in effect booking 3 of our players. Brownlie's tackle was spot on and wasn't a foul never mind a yellow card.

Graham probably should have scored first half and apart from Hodson hitting the post we really didn't bother their keeper as our final ball and shooting were laughably bad.

Positives from today was Docherty returning and another 45 minutes of Kevin Holt's return.

Lots of negatives but main thing today surfaced was the thought that our recent good results and performances from Fitzpatrick have been more down to playing poor teams with bigger injury problems than our team improving to anywhere close to title contenders.

Queens Park play a system that completely stops our main attacking threat. With their 2 wingers stopping Milne and McMillan being able to overlap we really didn't have a plan B. You could see McCall tried to alter it at halftime by getting Docherty and Hodson to sit and allow Turner to move alongside Graham.

However to be this late into the season and still starting with such a weak midfield against one of the strongest teams in the league is a poor reflection on the coaching staff. To also not be able to force a save from the opposition keeper when a goal behind again isn't a sign that the coaching staff had any great masterplan.

Still think we need a centrehalf and midfielder in this window to make the playoffs but after today I think we might need them be slightly younger players that hopefully become mainstays for next season.

Also think we need to seriously look at moving McCall to Director of football and give Graham a go as head coach. McCall's recruitment is decent but the team don't look as well coached as others with lesser parts. So think it's time for Scally and Archibald to move on.

Agree. The turnstile system is a joke. Almost as bad as one wee woman in a pie stall for 1200 away fans.
