Bellichik did both jobs and that turned out a disaster for the Patriots
Would disagree with that, last few years weren't great but overall it was hugely successful.

Whilst losing Milne isn't great, it's probably the best thing that could happen in the circumstances.
He's unlikely to make the difference between getting into the playoffs and getting promoted and would be away at the end of the season anyway. We'd end up with nothing in that scenario.
Getting money for a guy on the way out anyway isn't something we can turn our noses up at unfortunately

Would think we still need a goalkeeper and a striker minimum if we're going to have any chance of promotion.
Do we have Sayers and Nilsson for the remainder of the season? Would we want them is another question, but seen conflicting stuff about whether they're even still here. Would be good to get some clarity on that. Another full-back for cover would be required if they're both gone.
Nilsson has photos of himself training with Brighton on his Instagram account at the end of December so I reckon he's a pretty good source of info as to his current status.

And maybe time to cut our losses with Nilsson and terminate the loan.
Nilsson has been back at Brighton for quite a while now, no longer part of the squad.

I watched NY Jets on Thanksgiving Day at Metlife Sradium. Built on Meadowlands Swamp. Freezing late November. It has no roof and parts of concourse are open to the elements with wind cutting you in half. Bonkers design. THAT needed a roof.
I get the drive to keep the sport an outdoor one, and they generally seem to love their snow games but the decision to build a new stadium in Buffalo that doesn't have a roof is bizarre to me.
They must feel it gives them an advantage, especially when it comes to playoff time

Who knows what game the commentators are watching but they seem to not have a clue what's going on.
That throw in being a prime example, clearly went off the accies player last but they're laughing at the ref giving it to us. Was obvious!

The good people of Green Bay, Buffalo, Detroit, Minnesota etc are laughing at us (if they knew who we were) while they watch 4 hour NFL games in freezing conditions.
Well technically the people of Minnesota and Detroit don't as their stadiums are indoor but your point is a good one nonetheless 😜

Referee happy with the pitch according to Accies twitter.
Although you'd think that there may be a further inspection later in the day.

I agree it makes sense.
Even so whilst he's obviously a loss to us I think he really has to improve considerably on his distribution to make it at a higher level. Most clubs up the food change would have to change their tactics just to accommodate Myles.
100%, probably not much of an issue for the cloggers that are RC but anywhere else that needs a keeper to be able to play out from the back will struggle with him.
For us, a fully fit Mitchell is a more than adequate replacement.

I see that Brian Graham has just made his 4th signing of the January window. A combination of experience and youth. Not bad given we are just at the 6th January; he seems to know what he is doing. I was just wondering how these signings for the Women's Team sit within the general financial gloom discussed in this thread. One points about the signings - I would liked to have seem a bit more in terms of height and physique. Just an opinion based on watching highlights. Our current ladies team looks to be lacking in height and physical prowess.
I don't see any new items on the OS about Roberts. Has his loan period ended or has he been recalled to his club?
Roberts was a season long loan, so he's been recalled by Watford.
Rumours seem to be that Ross County are wanting to sign him on loan so can only assume Watford would prefer him to be playing Premier League football. Understandable from their point of view.

Chatting to a few Accies players at my gym this morning, interesting comment from big McGinty. I said to Ollie Shaw I’d like to see him at Firhill, McGinty said we couldn’t afford his wages. If true how can Accies afford him and I wonder what he gets? Interesting.
My understanding was we offered him a decent deal but Accies blew us out of the water on not only wage but also the length of deal.
Don't necessarily agree that we couldn't afford his wages, more like we were unwilling to give him what he was offered elsewhere. Accies probably gave him a larger share of their budget as he'd be a starter and one of their top players whereas here he'd be fighting Graham for a place.

as for Nilsson I think we could return him under the trade descriptions act. To be kinder let's just say he's hardly cut out to be a fullback in our division.
He's been back at Brighton for a while apparently, won't be returning.

Raith Rovers game at Firhill a few years back is a game i will always remember. Not because it was a tremendous game or an outstanding goal. But because of Thistle's winner, i didn't see the goal, not because i had left early or even not watching the game, i was there to the end as usual and had my full attention on the park, but the fog was so thick and from my place in the John Lambie stand when the ball went over the half way line i could see nothing and had to go by crowd reaction to try and work out what was happening on the park for the last 20 minutes or so of the game. I didn't see Kyle Turner's winning goal until about 5 hours or so after the game.
I remember at a couple of points in that second half the City end of the JHS working out that we couldn't see anything up that end of the pitch, and celebrating as if there had been a goal scored when there hadn't been.
Berra got sent off for Raith Rovers that day IIRC.

Kyle Turner signs on a 2 year deal.

It was always going to be a close game. They have a good record at home, it's identical to ours whereas away from home they've been really poor losing 10 of their 18 games.
Taking it back to Firhill level after falling behind early and being on the backfoot for the majority of the game is a huge positive. Even in the second half where we were under pressure for almost all of it, we created the best chance and restricted them to very little.
Being back on the grass pitch should tilt it in our favour and I think if we score the first goal we should be ok. Obviously they are a good team but seem to struggle to score on the road (average under a goal a game) and seem to concede a lot (average just under 1.5 a game) the mirror opposite from their home form.

Stream now up but freezes every 30 seconds and I have to refresh 😩

I've been trying to buy the game to stream but constantly getting a message saying "error establishing a database connection"
Tried different devices and browsers. Must be a problem at the Thistle end.

Docherty away to Dundee United 😔

Really tough one to take, I've experienced my fair share of heartbreak as a Thistle fan like we all have but that was quite possibly the worst of the lot.
I had my concerns after the first 20 mins or so, we just couldn't get a handle on the game and were conceding possession so cheaply. That being said we were defending quite well but there was no way we could have kept that up for 90 mins. To get in at HT 1-0 was the stuff of dreams, we'd played poorly and had extended our lead.
This is where i'd be a bit critical of the manager, we should have made the change to shore up at that point. We'd been getting bombarded, were losing the midfield battle and were not really in the game in an attacking sense so something needed to be done. The lack of options on the bench was probably what made Doolan hesitant here but there must have been something that could have been done.
We were quite lucky they didn't get the first goal earlier. The chance right before HT and then the Brownlie slip at the start of the second half were huge let offs, these were the warning signs.
The penalty was really unfortunate, I just cant get my head around what is a handball and what's not these days. It seems to make no sense.
Our reaction to that penalty was absolutely farcical though and that was the moment that the game really flipped, I felt that sucked the life out of us and that it was only a matter of time until they got the third.
We can blame the referee or VAR but what happened in those last 20 mins and beyond was all down to us and how we managed the game. We had enough chances in the first game to put them away and being 3-0 up with 20 mins to go should have allowed us to play them on the break. We just never seemed to be able to get a foothold.
We maybe weren't ready as a squad to go up but when the chance presents itself you just have to take it, you may not get another one for a while. I doubt we'll be in as good a position again anytime soon and that's probably the most gutting thing.
-
We can blame the referees and VAR all we want, the flow of decisions was definitely against us for most of that second leg but VAR also gave us the majority of the home game playing against ten men. We just didn't properly hammer home that advantage.
We lost because we didn't put them away when we had the chance, they had the ascendancy for about 30 mins of the 180 and scored the goals they needed to in that time.

Doolan has so far kept any changes from game to game to an absolute minimum. If Bannigan is back he might start instead of Fitz, but other than that it will be the same 11.
Does anyone know if there is any chance of Milne being back before the end of the playoffs ?
No chance of Milne being back unfortunately.
