  1. The majority of posts criticising the team invariably are coming from posters that haven't been to these particular games.

I think people also forget that our team is made up of a lot of young players who by their nature, are going to be be up and down in terms of their performances on a week by week basis.

Hence why when we get an early goal, more often than not we tend to go on and do quite well. When that doesnt happen we can sometimes get a little nervous.

  2. It's obvious the early goals helped, and I always thought that if we scored early then their heads would go down. It's up to us to hammer home the advantage and we did that really well by all accounts (I wasn't there).

This shows that we're capable of playing the same football as we had been even with a different manager. I'm absolutely delighted that we seems to be a little more resolute at the back too, we only had 6 clean sheets in the league until Archie took over, he's now overseen 3 in 4 games (not counting the Cowden game).

I think we could have seen the same kind of scoreline in the Airdrie and Accies games had we gotten an early goal. Just didn't happen for us in those games. We're very much a confidence team.

  3. I forgot how many chances we missed. Typical of this season really. Forbes should've had a hat trick.

It was a great goal from Erskine.

Bannigan lost the ball to the ginger guy and then looked like he couldn't be arsed running after him.

I too forgot how many good chances we had and missed, especially in the 2nd half.

I think if we had scored an early goal in that game, we'd have ended up running in 4 or 5.

  4. If they didn't turn up then I assume we'd be awarded the 3 points.

Did the accies not get a massive points deduction that resulted in their relegation for not fulfilling a fixture at one stage?

I'd love to think we'll go there and get an easy 3 points, but can't see it happening.

They would get a fine and point deduction and the game rescheduled!

    Apparently!

Apparently with regards to the Accies game, it was postponed and rescheduled and Accies were subsequently deducted 15 points which in effect relegated them.

So there is a precedent there...

  5. According to the Sun there is the chance of them going on strike against Thistle tomorrow.

Would we get the points by default? That would be sweet.

If they didn't turn up then I assume we'd be awarded the 3 points.

  6. There was three weeks between the Morton and Falkirk game. If that's not an ideal time for giving the pitch a rest, I don't know what is.

It's not just a matter of giving it a rest. We could be off it for two months and it wouldn;t get much better because of the time of year. At this time of year it's almost impossible for the pitch to recover because the grass isn't growing.

The only way to combat this would be to buy the mobile heat lamps which is completely out of the question for a club of Thistle's size.

  7. If I had read 4/5/6 or more reports on the match then I could absolutely give you an opinion on how either team had performed. Would you be unable to?

Surely all you would be doing would be regurgitating someone else's opinion of how either team performed?

To form your own opinion, you'd have to have actually seen the game.

  8. Oh, you've got me slightly worried..... I think the stub you mean is still affixed.... so that should be OK...... shouldn't it???

The ticket has a tab at the end to denote that it's an adult ticket. If your ticket is a concession one then it'll not have the tab at the far right of the ticket as the "adult" part of the ticket will have been removed at some point.

  9. Not sure if McDonald got booked for the foul or for him squaring up as well- you could argue there was two bookable offences from him in there as well.

Spoke to a mate who's a ref and he said it's likely MacDonald would have been booked for the tackle and Murray for the aggressive behaviour.

I said the same to him about the two bookable offences and he said that as it was all part of the one incident that he would only be punished once.

He did say that if MacDonald had actually stuck the nut in Murray then he would have went also, but because it was just essentially squaring up then it wasn't going to supercede the tackle as both the tackle and the reaction were essentially bookings and not straight reds.

That's just his opinion on the events as I described them to him though.

  10. With 3 games within the week it's likely that we'll see a little shuffling around either tomorrow night or on Saturday.

I'd expect O'Donnell to be on the bench tomorrow with a view to him starting on Saturday and then Tuesday or if Welsh took a knock then O'Donnell will be in then rested on Sat. Maybe the only change tomorrow night will be Craigen for Murray.

I'd expect to see Doolan start one of the next 2 games too.

It'll all depend on how the players looked at training yesterday i suppose.

    Fox

    Welsh

    Muirhead

    Balatoni

    Sinclair

    Paton

    Craigen

    Erskine

    Craig

    Bannigan

    Forbes

    Edited to add;

I think it's likely that he'll make more changes for the Airdrie game, as I think the Cowden game is the harder of the two and it would be better to have our better players fresher for that one.

  11. I hope it does sell out, and I hope as many neutrals as possible get along and support the jags. The more the merrier.

It would be excellent and I think there's a really good chance it will. Both teams are reasonably well supported and have a history of their funs turning up in numbers for cup finals and semi finals.

Not sure what the capacity of the east stand is but i'm assuming it's around the 3k mark. The attendance for the final last year was only around 5k so it looks like we'll be beating that

  12. Looks like there's a good possibility that the game could be a sell out.

As far as I can gather tickets for the East Stand were released to us in their entirety so that's quite impressive so sell that out within 2 days.

We were only initially given 3 blocks in the North Stand with the option of a further 2 if that sold out. So it looks like the public sale will see the rest of those tickets sold.

The SFL site also says that if Queens don't sell blocks U, V and W of their allocation then this will be released to us.

  13. If you're intending on going to Firhill for your tickets I'd hold off for a few days.

Queued for about 30 mins this morning and was told they were being forced by the SFL to sell tickets from the front row back.

After travelling all the way to Firhill and waiting for 30 mins I couldn't be bothered having to go back later to try and get tickets further back.

So it looks like the fans getting out to buy tickets early are being punished with the worst view
