I heard that Kilmarnock might be making an offer for him. Nothing about a fall out. Apologies if this has come up in Jagszone as I don't subscribe but Caldwell said on Friday "it’s just the longer term ones who are out – Harkins and Slater. Everyone else should be fit and ready to go".   Penrice was missing from the squad, perhaps something re his head knock, but why did GC not mention that?

Not saying it's happened or happening but I don't think it's wild speculation to think that Killie might be interested in James. And also thinking that the Club might be needing to sell. Nothing wrong with listening to Kilmarnock, seeing what they'd offer, and then telling them to get to ****.

btw I know nothing about Mr Goldie but I wouldn't put much faith in someone who sounds like he might be a cross retriever labrador.

Penrice was out for delayed concussion protocol. Caldwell said so on jagzone

Sandy - didn't you know there were 'some positives' coming out of today's game?!

This is the p1sh that the fan bois are spouting.

If there are two bigger “fan bois” on this site, I’ve yet to see them.

  3. Will Kenny Miller be a success? Only time will tell.  What is tiring is the moaning about not offering Doolan a contract at 32 and signing Miller at 39.  Doolan was not released because of his age.  He was released because he couldn’t do what our manager wants him to do.  Will he score goals for Ayr? He will probably score most of his goals against us if Football history tells us anything.  Will we finish above Ayr despite this? I think so.  Miller has a track record of doing what our manager wants.  From what I have read (admittedly could be fake news) Miller has always looked after himself really well.  Let’s look at the positives.

I knew it wouldn't be long before the fan boi's fan boi surfaced with a suitably obsequious reply. I was genuinely amazed at one of your posts recently, I thought it would have been impossible  to see your keyboard with your tongue so far up DP's @rse.  Just so we can savour the peculiar sycophancy of that post it was:

'DP you are in danger of overtaking the legend blows as my favourite poster'.

With such capacity for fawning and self-abasement, you could easily get a job as a 'sport journalist' in Scotland - writing about the Old Firm, naturally.

Speaking about the Old Firm, much as I can't stand your (and your legend's, sorry daddy's) toxic posts, I even less like (what you no doubt regard as) your 'hugely ironic' avatar.

    It stinks.

You seem to be getting very excited, Semi.  Perhaps you could invite Sandy round to Finnish you off?

Sandy we were beaten by Lower league opponents the last time we played east fife under considerably better weather conditions and I don’t recall you being critical of The manager that day. The most important thing is the win rather than the performance.

Great point Thirds. Sandy (or Mrs Archibald as she may be referred to) is never critical of the previous manager but very very quick to be negative towards a manger that’s unbeaten now in six games this year.  I can feel the devastation.

As someone who wanted him out I’m delighted with the recent results and good transfer window.

hopefully we can move up the table and catch the likes of Dunfermline and Morton and put some sort of respectability on this season.

we all want Thistle to be successful and if that’s with Gary Caldwell then great, I’d be happy to tuck into  some humble pie and be humiliated on this forum.

Congratulations to Caldwell on what hopefully develops into continuing good results.

Great post.  I’m sure there are a few who will be enjoying the win who perhaps let their bellies rumble instead of assessing the shambles that the previous manager left properly

I can't for the life of me understand why people keep suggesting that Elliott might be dropped in favour of McMillan. On recent form it's Penrice who has more to worry about, imo.

    Indeed.

And no one cares what you think.

What a brilliant come back! It’s truly made my day.  I used to think that you were a grumpy old man but I have reconsidered. With that kind of patter you must be about 12!!!! Hilarious

The constant criticism of everything the manager says or does really is draining.

It's the same people saying the same thing, over and over again, until Caldwell says or does something else for them to jump on that as well so they can add that to their list.

Caldwell has made mistakes, lots of them. His man management is questionable because of results since he took over. The Erskine situation lost him a lot of support and should have been handled better. He has made bad decisions during games that may have cost us points. At least he has had the balls to make decisions though.

He inherited a poor group of players with a losing record. He possibly thought he could steady the ship with that group of players but he couldn't. He has now been able to bring in players of his own and, since the turn of the year, performances have improved.

Look at the players he has got rid of, or wants to get rid of - Storer, Melbourne, Scobbie, Erskine, Jeffries, Mutombo, Ntambwe, Keown, Bell. Out with Erskine, is anyone going to really make a case for any of the rest staying? He's identified the dross. He dropped the bomb scare of a defender that is McGinty.

The players look fitter than they did a few months ago, and we have been able to hold out for results in our three league games since the turn of the year that we may have squandered previously.

I get people don't like him and I get that we are in a poor position but the constant harping back to the interview or the SAS day or the player analysis is completely wearing. The guy is doing some things right.

    Great post

Disagree. I don’t think any fan would be devastated not to be relegated or devastated at getting into the promotion playoffs. There has been a lot of justifiable criticism of Caldwell - 2 league wins out of 13 attempts is poor. But let’s all hope we can build on today and move up the table.

My point is not that fans don’t want to do well more they don’t want Caldwell to be the man to lead it

  11. Great win against a decent team who are taking out sides a lot higher in the league than us. Dare I say well done to the management team for making the tough decisions that have resulted in the current upturn in fortunes? Well done Gary Caldwell, enjoy the win.

  12. Let me say firstly that as we appointed GC as manger, he should be given time and resources to build a team that reflects him and his ideas.  What worries me is that he seems to come from the same modern day coaching school as our previous manager ie football by numbers/ transition/ possession etc. IMO totally wrong for the position and league that we are in.  I’m also concerned about some ideas that are still being peddled around such as promotion and the supposed fact that we have a talented squad.  I agree that the manager should have a good look at the team and decide who can do it and who can’t but players such as spittal, storey, erskine, are the reason we are in this mess in the first place.  Add to that storer, slater, mutumbo, Ntambwe and you have back to back relegation.  I’ve heard a lot about our attacking options but our lack of goals proves that we really have no options at all.  Don’t even get me started on the defence.  That’s just plain and simple mismanagement.

  13. A quote from the manager

“The second half we gave ourselves a mountain to climb and we've done it a couple of times away from home and we can't keep doing it."

But we do......... and it’s your fault.

  14. What a bizarre outburst.

He's not signed for anyone yet as far as I can see. I'm sure he'll assess all his options and go wherever he feels is best for him, whether that be us, United or anyone else. We've had 4 good seasons out of Lawless, I'd say he's earned us standing by him in his troubles and doesn't owe the club anything.

it's the thing that I love most about this forum: all opinions are respected and posters always take the time to understand the original post before offering intelligent responses. Where is the cup when you need him.
