  1. So do I. But maybe 5% of people responding to this poll indicating 'BNP' aren't actually Jags fans. Hope so anyway...
  2. Couldn't agree with this more. We've lost a lot of that entrepreneurial spirit we once had and when there's 50% more employment in the public sector than there is in the private sector, you just have to say that it's unsustainable. Any independent Scottish government would have to have a radical approach to address this, but we seem to have a tendancy to want to increase the size of the state. This is a massive structural problem, for which there seems to be little political will to fix. The parties that support independence are kidding themselves on if they think we could painlessly join the EU with these numbers.
  3. You wonder if the Governor of the Bank of England is right, though. The scale of the mistakes made in our economy, and the unaffordability of the public sector, means that we are faced with substantial cuts whoever comes in. Whatever happens. BoE chief thinks that whoever is in charge as it happens will be unelectable for a generation afterwards. Maybe it's best to lose this one... Your prediction of a shambles is probably right, but I'd expect a proper coalition to emerge with no second election (from what I hear).
  4. Exactly - an older party. Fascist CCTV parties, though; good one!
  5. You're probably right. But I think he debates well. And definitely not a style over substance guy. But still won't vote for his party....
  6. Have to disagree (strongly as it happens). Brown did well. Clegg, for me, cam across as hollow and facile; I got really cheesed off with this "these old parties" thing when debates were going on.
  7. Brown's done well here. Probably agreed with him more than any of the others. Still won't vote Labour. Rapidly going off Clegg. I suspect he would be a decent PR guy, but is coming across more and more (to me) as hollow and unconvincing. This 'old parties' nonsense has worn completely thin. Cameron has missed his opportunity, though. Maybe these 'debates' have been a real waste after all.
  8. When you look at their squad you realise how thin it really is. 2 or 3 outstanding players and the rest are 'OK'. Not a winning squad (though Greece and their grinding out 1-0s to Euro success a few years ago is a sobering thought) Won't be supporting them, but can't really begrudge the nation for getting excited about the tournament. if we were there and people/ pubs etc were starting to hang out Scotland flags I would probably think that'd be a good thing... I'm just glad they finally got round to using the St George's flag rather than the Union flag.
  9. Definitely his last game on Saturday. Everyone is aware of that. The only question is where his next game will be...
  10. Indeed. Though it's worth looking at the last paragraph and considering the number of players that they have produced over the last few years. Way more than us...
  11. There's also a problem if he doesn't look prepared to do 'a deal with the devil'. If Labour aren't the biggest party they will effectively have squandered a large majority to the extent that they've been kicked out by the electorate. For Nick Clegg being seen to prop up an unpopular governemtn would be a high risk strategy. In my constituency I'm considering voting Lib Dems precisely because they're the best placed opposition to the incumbent Labour candidate. Pretty crap if that vote then simply goes to support the current administration....
  12. Not that surprising though, to be honest. Difficult to know what else they could do. It looks like we'll be trying to bring through 'youngsters'. This would be a perfect strategy IF we had any kind of track record. Unfortunately we haven't exactly excelled in youth development for the best part of a generation. We'll not be alone in these circumstances next season. I'm quite glad in that sense to see the back of ICT rather than Dundee. Maybe the biggest thing that'll shape next season's First Division will be the result of the Kilmarnock v Falkirk game on 8th May...
  13. Looks good so far. You can almost smell the fresh paint. Well done to those responsible. Hopefully the quality of debate and comment will match the environment.
  14. Decided to take a hospitality table, which includes 3 'irregulars'. Might try and talk a couple of lapsed/ borderline fans into taking our vacant normal seats. I really hope the occasion lives up to the expectation...
