  1. Whilst other clubs may have 3 or 4 stands, how many of the stands are actually used?

    Clyde

    St Johnstone

    Morton

    Dunfermline

    Raith Rovers

    Livingston

    Airdrie

All of these clubs may have more than two stands, but how often are they ever used? We have one very large stand (for our level) and a small sized stand. 8,000 seats has been more than enough, even for the bigger cup games...How many games since the JH stand and Viagra stand were built have we even filled them? We have effectively been in a two stand stadium for years (and so have others), but it seems some people think that looking at an empty stand is better than something that might (?) generate some income for us...

How many times have you watched foreign football and seen stadia that are not 4 stands - it often is the case with smaller teams where there is one end with a large bank for advertising. It is not that uncommon you know.

As others have said, four, fully filled stands would be lovely, but we have to be realistic. We aint got the cash to even entertain the thought.

  2. Meadowbank on the Hillsborough disaster day. My first ever Thistle match...

I lived in Edinburgh at the time and my mate at school's father was doctor for Meadowbank. I went through on the Meadowbank team bus, wearing my (Partick)Thistle scarf! Anyway, was taking into the changing room before the game and all the players autographed the programme and then sat in the Director's box in the Main Stand. Half-time and down into the bowels of the stand and wondered why everyone was crowded round the TV set...I was still a bit too young to realise what was going on... Still some day out it was.

Almost better was sitting on the Meadowbank team bench at Meadowbank stadium against the Jags. It was baltic though, but a Charnley equalising penalty cheered me up!

Off topic I know, but it brought back many memories!

  3. Podolski, Klose, Garcia, Özil, Khedira - a very multi-cultural German team...

Most Germans were not expecting much from the young team. Fair play, they did well. Good angled runs were too much for the two aged Aussie central defenders.

Will be interesting to see if they have it so easy against another team...

  4. Hey, Herman! Still playing in the old men's footie team?

Me: Melrose, then Edinburgh, Uni in St. Andrews, Ingelheim (near Mainz), Aberdeen (got away from there as soon as possible) and now Cologne for the past 10 years.
