  1. That is the main thing that puzzled me about Archie's tactics, especially away from home in this division.  It seemed that our main focus was to set up to counter the other team's strengths, instead of playing to our own strengths and making them worry about us.

  2. So many moments.  Probably when he was waiting to take a corner at Kilbowie.  The ref is sorting out a 'melee' in the box.  I'm just a youngster, leaning on the wall beside him.  'Here wee man, that pie any good?'   Aye Chic, no bad.  'Gies a bit'.  He takes a bite, ref blows the whistle, he takes the corner.

  3. I'm surprised there is so much opinion, especially divided opinion, on the boy at this stage.  I certainly haven't seen enough from him to say he's potentially great, or that he's a complete waste.  Shows some nice touches, some really daft touches.  The only point I'd make is the times I've seen him, I struggle to identify where he's trying to play.  For periods he can be the last midfielder back while we're attacking, or the furthest up the pitch while we're defending.

Technology has certainly improved, but we really only had free to hear updates for 10 or 15 years. In ye olden days ie Lambies time we had to use club call to get any info

Wave of nostalgia just hit me!  I remember finding a 'dodgy' phone box close to my house, using the same 10p coin to feed through and dialling in for the latest news.

  5. Spittal scored last week, so he's going to start.  As much as I'd like to see Fitzpatrick in there.

Bannigan in for Ntambwe.  Dunno what we can do about the defence in terms of fitness levels.  Our big problem is the right side Elliot/Keown spacetime conundrum at the moment.  (ie giving the opposition too much of both).

  6. You can see it happening on the pitch in a lot of cases too.  Meaningless passes, just to ensure if there's a mistake they can say 'wasn't me', hiding instead of looking for the ball, staying down when not injured just to claim you were fouled instead of working to rectify your mistake, the list goes on....

I don't doubt what Archie said but it wouldn't have been a bad thing if he had been primed to go on to say "...and we are advised that it should all be sorted within the next X weeks/months."  A little bit of expectation management for your customer-base goes a long way.

Unless he'd been told to say it'll take a week, then it takes more than a week.  I'd rather he said he didn't know if he actually didn't know.

  8. I think you're mixing up can't and won't.  Literally?  Everyone could play 40+ a season.  Whether they're limping, burnt out, off form.  But that's playing on semantics.

I feel like I'm unduly backing Bannigan here, but the fact is he's played more football this (pre) season than others.  We can't say whether he'll be a bit part player now.

If your so injury prone that you cant play on an artificial pitch its time to look into a new career away from sport. We need players committed to playing 40 + games per season, not folk picking and choosing when it suits

Pretty sure it's not him picking.

Should we now dump Erskine, Doolan and Fitzpatrick too?  Sure these guys won't go 40+ this season.

  10. Well, let's do it.  We're unbeaten in the league at home so far.  :thumbsup2:

Bannigan and Brice on the bench?  Fitzpatrick to start if fit?  Wonder what the score is with Shea Gordon and Andy McCarthy in terms of progress.  If we can get everyone fit, we've got an awful lot of central midfielders to choose from.

    Anyone for a Coulibaly sighting?
