  1. Yes, came across well in his interview, despite it being the run of the mill questions -hopefully a decent attitude and positive addition to the dressing room. He actually reminded me a bit of Harry Milne which is no bad thing.

    Squad slowly taking shape.

  2. All to do with how the coaches work together. Mark Wilson comes across as being an easy going affable sort of person, so maybe someone who's capable of playing the bad cop part is what we need.

  3. Pleased to have him back. And another known quantity who's already familiar with our senior defenders.

I thought he looked good at getting the ball in play without punting away possession - always a plus for me.

  4. What's going on? Lots of people coming up with their own guesses and theories then sharing them on social media. The signal to noise ratio is very poor.

But I guess we're all used to it by now.

  5. Of course Mark Wilson is doing more work - people tend to chip in during periods of adversity. The club has hired a recruitment lead. Baraclough is hospitalised. What more do you think the club should be doing in the circumstances?

And do you not think there's a strong possibility that the club made Bannigan an offer, possibly reduced from last season, and Bannigan then decided to have a look elsewhere? Essentially two different opinions of his value. And if this is nearer to the truth, your assessment of his worth appears to be pretty much in line with the club's.

There's always got to be a scapegoat - can't point the finger at the head coach at the moment, so let's blame the board for everything.

Right I have had enough!! Am I the only one who is glad the big ego has left? He couldnt hold the ball up to involve the midfield which is the modern game rightly or wrongly,  would rather moan and shout at the ref when most of the time we all groaned at his pathetic efforts to get the ball,  missed more than double the chances he took, but no one in the team would dare shout at him for those sitters of which there were many,  should have been 150/170 never mind 100…. Stoppped any type of good football cause it was all hoof ball to Graham, no new striker stood a chance of a sustained run of games, plus my personal opinion is with his “personality” in the dressing room Doolan stood no chance but……..   Then to mess the club about at the end, who tf does he think he is?? Good riddance. We will be a better club and team without him.

AND am I remembering correctly but did he not refuse to sign for us previously and went to raith or some other back water club????

Agree with this in spirit. I always saw the potential of more dimensions to our play on the rare occasions he was subbed.

Would happily take Shaw as he at least can score goals. However I suspect getting him would involve paying a decent transfer fee to Hamilton and we aren't paying that.

Alternatively if he has a relegation release in his contract or if Hamilton goes bust (looks possible) then he would be available but we wouldn't be able to compete on wages.

If the Guthrie signing happens is stinks of no real scouting had been done by Barraclough prior to his injury and instead Turnbull has been asked to find a target man striker we can afford. So throws a pin at the long list of English non-league strikers that we could afford and that produces a 32 year old who has been describe by quite a few clubs he's played for as their worst player ever.

I hope I'm wrong. I did see rumours of us being interested in Nicky Clark which whilst he's not young can at least score goals. More acceptable if its him but equally makes a complete nonsense of having a recruitment strategy that identifies young players with resale value.

If the Ruth story is correct it sounds like Graham & Wilson identified someone that more met that strategy

I saw a rumour that the story about the rumour about the guess that we're trying to sign Guthrie was made up by a Livi supporter posting onTwitter - that bastion of accurate information.

As for the Ruth fable sounding like another complete guess - who knows.

    He has input

Of course he does. Especially so when the guy everyone is moaning about is lying in a hospital bed in Mauritius. Do people seriously think that others, including Mark Wilson, haven't stepped up to help out?

Can't believe the number of hand-wringing, clubs in chaos posts there are nowadays. God help us when we actually start playing games again and people have to deal with the inevitable rollecoaster season. Social media is just so febrile now - doom scrolling our lives away...

I hope the chair of the Jags Foundation tokes some learnings from the events over the last few days.

The club board are under some real pressure with the accident to the sporting director and were doing the right thing for his family by restricting information..

They probably thought we have a meeting with the Jags Foundation in a few days where we can explain the added challenges  of the loss of a key person to the club whilst they are recovering.

They would not have expected the Jags Foundation to issue a public statement to increase the pressure on them before the board meeting.

This is not how you work together for the benefit of Partick Thistle,  it is even worse when the Jags Foundation still had a member on the board of Partick Thistle.

The Jags Foundation need to agree how they communicate to work with the Board, rather than in a way that creates division and opposition.

I think fans need to reflect on this too. There is a voracious and seemingly endless appetite for updates - full disclosure on everything. If there is even the slightest delay in info flowing out of the club, someone on social media makes assumptions and another baseless rumour takes hold.

Yes, there is considerable scope to improve approach to communications, but sometimes things need to be kept private, and we all need to (re)learn to accept this.

  10. Fairly predictable. Quite a lot of work to be done then, considering the first four, maybe five, names on the list are either long-term injured or likely/rumoured to be leaving.

Banzo - I'd keep - continuity/experience in the dressing room - easy to take that for granted if you judge a player purely by what you see on the park. Although IMO his performances haven't been as poor as some think. Especially when you consider the role he's been asked to undertake in a midfield which has lacked balance for a long time.

  11. Like any management arrangement, I suspect the finer detail of who does what very much depends on who is involved and how they get on. Now that Baraclough and Wilson are in post, they'll be working hard at playing catch-up and establishing an effective working relationship. They both come across as reasonable people who'll be capable of taking a collegiate approach.

Once the decision was taken to keep Graham and Wilson as co-managers until the end of the season, which was an entirely reasonable decision to make, there really was no way of avoiding a period of uncertainty at start of close season.

I would imagine Baraclough has been working on some things he would ordinarily expect the coach to do, given the circumstances. Here's hoping anyway.

All the best Mark and Ian.

And all the best to you all - think this is a good point to finish.

So people are thinking it’s Wilson because a STV sports reporter tweeted about it ( probably from reading thistle fans socials) and because radio Clyde mentioned it after seeing said reporters tweet ?

Yes. That's how facts work now.

If you think Graham knocked back a chance at a managers job to try and secure a bigger pay deal then I think you are wrong. Graham has been desperate to get a move to management so more likely he didn't feel he had the full support of the Sporting Director and Board because he was second choice to Imrie and Graham is a winner (sometimes at the expense of modesty) so I firmly expect he thought he was being set up to fail when he was told what budget he was expected to work with.

Imrie has been desperate for a move out of Morton because Morton are a basket case at the boardroom and financially. If Imrie thought Thistle had a better budget he would have held his nose on the process and taken the post, the fact he didn't suggests Imrie thought he had a better chance of staying in this league with Morton.

This is fantasy. You don't know what Graham or Imrie really think, so why make it up on a public forum? You're allowed to think things, without typing them out for everyone else to see.

  14. I actually think the way things are talked about on social media is rotten to the core.

People getting whipped up into a froth about a recruitment process which turned out to be slightly trickier than expected.

I have mixed feelings about this forum closing. Ban me.

Interviews work both ways. Perhaps the interview process clarified that neither could work with our interpretation of what a Sporting Director would do?

Also seems to be a suggestion that Graham knocked it back because the playing budget didn't give him a chance of being competitive. As I understand it the Sporting Director allocates the budget across the teams so maybe the interview process clarified that Barraclough's expectation versus budget was unrealistic?

An unsubstantiated rumour, so not really a basis for making a case against the Sporting Director. In my opinion anyway.

  16. Exactly.

Doubt he's the one chronically posting unsubstantiated nonsense on social media or whispering in the ear of his mate who fancies himself as a journo.

Maybe he will have learned a lot about who he can trust.

I hears 2nd hand this morning he had turned it down. That came originally from a prominent TJF member

Prominent TJF member? Just a supporter then?

If you could pass back through the chain of sweetie wives - please shut the fck up - you're damaging the reputation of the club you claim to support. Who would apply to be manager or whatever at an organisation if you think there's a risk the business is going to be conducted in public.

Big problem is when one of these rumours accidentally hits on the truth. Leaves the club and its interview process open to criticism from candidates. The best thing is to continue with the recruitment stages and just ignore the speculation.

Of course, it could be candidate(s) or their agents doing the gossiping.

Must be embarrassing for anyone involved, who actually cares about the reputation of the organisation.
