Comparisons with what we have done previously (Lindsay, Fitzpatrick etc) seem way off the mark to me.

When Thistle have sold players, throughout our history, it has been for the good of the club. We've wished them well and, as fans, been able to see the positive side, whether it's about reinvesting in the club, the playing staff, or just keeping us financially stable.

If we start seeing our best players sold off just to line the pockets of our shareholders then it's a very different thing.

This and why people can't see or admit this, is beyond me.

When you read the Barnsley forums it’s very split.  Towards end of last season the consortium were the best thing since sliced bread. Since the abysmal start they are the devil personified.

We have always been a selling team for any half decent prospect, and recently seem to be a dumping ground for agents to offload players to

What about the question raised about the difference with the moneyball principle with the first pick option across the water, that doesn't happen over here. A key factor in making the moneyball work surely?

    What about this reply? Screenshot_20191007-215739.thumb.png.6deab47dd61dd9093219924893bbf892.png

I honestly don't know how any fan can still seriously believe selling to this consortium is going to be a good thing considering what the fans of Nice and Barnsley have advised based on their experiences!

WTF was Archie doing not offering Stevie Lawless another deal after we went down?? He was excellent tonight.

I'm not in the know for the avoidance of doubt, but I suspect he wasn't offered one because Archibald would have been told by Lawless's Agent that it would be pointless.

Don't shoot the messenger, Weebaw, but the BBC TV money is pooled with other TV income etc. The collective money is then split throughout the four divisions with the lion's share going to....Well, I reckon you can guess where.

    Stenhousemuir?

I was there too. I would say that I left the session more happy that the boards motivations are nothing to do with self interest. But and it’s a big but - it’s not at all clear what is happening with the consortium. I can appreciate that there is little they can say at this stage but the topics they did cover left more questions than answers. One chap asked why they chose us and the answer was that they investigated and thought that Glasgow was a good fit. It really makes little sense.

Another chap in the audience (Ross I think) spoke very eloquently. As did donners (jagscat). Tbf - the board fronted up but...at the moment we only know the budget is cut, we’ve lost our biggest benefactor, and the takeover may or may not happen.

Uncertain times. Patience will be required but by the time this is settled our season could be bust.

Was there any timescale given/hoped for for the take over if it happens?

You can say in the less amateur way that the club continues to do. Why couldn't the club say to the player, you can go on the club's terms. I. E  a bit more than 350k. Norwich are extremely keen to get him. As usual Thistle drop their pants at the pound sign.

Maybe when Aiden (and going back Liam), agreed to sign their contract extensions, it was only on the provision we would accept any offer above a low set amount. Maybe if we didn't agree to this, they would have been happy to let their contracts run down, in which case we would get feck all. In which case the board have done the best they could.

I know he's not started a game yet, but when he does, will KM be the first player to play for 3 Glasgow teams ?

Someone on Twitter noted it's 4 Glasgow teams. Took me way longer than it should to get it!

  9. From the Barnsley website -

“We have made a significant profit on Liam and all of that profit will be reinvested in Barnsley Football Club. We will also retain a significant interest in the future of the player.”

Add in that Billy Dodds almost liquidated the club and now could be their assistant manager and it has the potential for some grade 'A' banter!

Whats the story here? It rings a bell but can't remember the details.

It's my birthday today and the number 6 features a lot ,  so I am going for a 6 goal thriller ........4.2.. Jags.     My birthday wish..

Happy 666th Birthday. Following Thistle it probably feels like that anyway.

  12. From bbc report -

The newly-promoted Championship side did the damage early, on-loan Motherwell midfielder Shea Gordon scoring twice in the opening five minutes to give Thistle a lead they would maintain until the end.

    They really just shouldn't bother.

I'm slightly relieved to find out that it is not just me ..... not that I'm paranoid or anything

Ditto. Ever since the IPS theme changed the forum on my mobile has gone to pot. Really hope somthing can be done because it is painful. Dealing with enough Thistle pain as it is...
