    Money laundering?

Are the size of transactions within Scottish football really large enough that this could be done on a significant level at Thistle? Seems unlikely to me.  If they intended to go down the periodic Italian road (for example no specific imputation of Italy as more or less corrupt than anywhere else) of inflated transfer fees for the accounts that don't reflect the actually player's genuine worth. you'd probably want a feeder club where bigger fees were more usual.

  2. Interviews are going rapidly downhill. Full of statements of the interviewer's opinion/bland platitudes/party line thrown at the interviewee with a handover line  giving no option for whoever it is to express anything in the way of an actual opinion of their own.

"Blair we're looking forward to the Irn Bru cup game on Tuesday against Stranraer it's a game we want to win isn't it?" from today's preview for instance.

Hardly likely to answer with "Not looking forward to it at all, meaningless mickey mouse cup and I'd rather get knocked out sharpish" is he.

    I'm happy with that.

Last season was last season. Hopefully the fans will get behind him now and get off his back.

A more solid defence and more likelihood of getting another chance if you miss one should be good for his confidence which was clearly shot to pieces by the later stages of last season.

If at least by Christmas last year the club hadn't put together a list of targets that might be realistic for us playing in the Championship, as well as targets if we stayed up, I would find that startling and worrisome.

Equally, we would have been a week behind teams whose position was known in being able to do anything about players on that list.  Likely as not most of the signings that happened already were as good as done deals before we were in a position to do anything and were just waiting for the formalities to be finalised.  So, unless we desperately wanted anyone recently signed and were willing to overpay them, we were probably not going to be in the running and no one signed so far by Championship rivals comes into the must have category that I can see.

  6. If there is a continental team most similar to Thistle, I would think it would be Rayo de Vallecano. They are in the same city as 2 massive clubs (Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid) They get very little press coverage, even in the local media They are named after a district of the city They yoyo between the top 2 leagues They played in Europe once (I know we did it twice, but the Inter-twobob cup doesn't count unless you win it !) They have a very distinctive strip

Two forays into European competitions (62-63 Fairs Cup and 72-73 UEFA cup) other than the Intertoto malarkey (and frankly that gave the opportunitiy for two great trips Mickey Mouse competition or not) must be about time for another one mind you.

  7. Clearly not much going on at the moment. The team are sunning themselves and we're not.

    Trivia time.

An easy one to start with.

Of the 92 teams in the English leagues, 35 can use triangular corner flags if they wish. Why?

Please add your own questions at will.

FA Cup winners and the internet seems to think it is a myth
  8. If Hendry was to go for anything remotely like the figure quoted you'd have to question the collective sanity of Wigan FC.

They did give Coyle the manager's job once so questioning their collective sanity isn't entirely out of the question.
  9. Am I alone in thinking that Owen Coyle is an absolute fraud of a manager?

He's been absolutely shite in his last half dozen or so management jobs (start with his time at Wigan at least and could probably argue for going back further than that) but clearly talks a good game cos he keeps getting another shot despite growing evidence that he's not actually any good at it.

County will likely not be in any significant relegation trouble but that'll have more to do with buying half a new team in January as per than any positive input from the manager's office.

  10. That was the best atmosphere I've seen in Hampden since we beat France there. The place was rockin when the whistle went. The Dance tune at the end was brilliant. No one was wanting to leave.Good subs from Strachan , if a little late, .Thought we were playing into their hands a little with countless crosses from to wide but Going through the middle more when Martin came on changed it for us.

    This one?
    or that one?
  11. "New club in for Liam Lindsay. Oxford have a very serious rival. Same fee."

"No (not Scottish Club) . Will do a bit on it Sunday maybe. Oxford still expect him down to join next week. But other club more appealing."

Same fee part of this does suggest that the last contract Liam signed probably did have a release clause in it and it's been met. Either that or the "more appealing" club think they can win out on reputation and being able to offer LL better terms. Or I might be speculating bollocks.
