  1. This is original Beat singer, Dave Wakeling's English Beat (featuring Roddy from The Specials). Supported by Esperanza + Capone and The Bullets. Doors open 7pm. Esperanza on 730pm. I've got a limited amount of reduced priced tickets - £12 (face value is £16 + booking fee). PM me if you want tickets. Thanks.
  2. PM sent Will. Glad you enjoyed Friday night. Got loads of messages saying Esperanza were by far the best band on the night. I agree, but I'm bias.
  3. Rankin' Roger & Dave Wakeling did have an agreement not to play near each other, but don't know what happened on this occasion. I don't know what their fallout is over, but shame they can't sort it out. I saw Rankin' Roger's Beat at Specialized in November and they played for nearly 2 hours - best I've seen them. Save It For Later was spot on! The last time Rankin' Roger's Beat played in Glasgow, it was a poor turnout. I've sold our 250 allocation. 480 going altogether, so far. Arches holds more folk than than the other venues they played before, which is surprising. Going to be a great night though. Anyway, pop into The Steampunk Cafe if you get time before Arches opens at 7pm. I'm playing some tunes from 5pm - 645pm. Esperanza on at 725pm - 815pm. The Beat on at 840pm. Ps. Esperanza and Capone & The Bullets are supporting Dave Wakeling's English Beat @ the ABC on Mon 10th March - I've got limited amount of £12 tickets (face value is £16 plus mugging fee).
  4. Pre-gig tunes/meet up, in The Steampunk Cafe (Drury Street, across from The Horsehoe) from 5pm - 7pm. The Arches opens at 7pm. Esperanza on stage at 730pm. The Beat gig will finish at 10pm. Keep your gig tickets for free entry to The Record Factory (formerly Faktory), 17 Byres Road, where The Counterfeit Clash (Rab from Esperanza's other band) are playing at 1030pm. The Record Factory on until 2am. If anyone still needs tickets for The Arches, PM me. Thanks.
  5. It will be a mixed emotions night, but hopefully a successful one.
  6. @ THE ARCHES, ARGYLE STREET, GLASGOW. I have a limited amount of £16 tickets, which will benefit Esperanza. Face value tickets are £19 + booking fee. This is Esperanza's first public gig since The Clutha tragedy. Please PM me if you need tickets. Thanks.
  7. Our ska mate Mark "Ops" O'Prey didn't make it. Our thoughts are with his family at this terribly sad time.
  8. Thanks to everyone who has sent Esperanza and I messages of support. We are all very shocked, but grateful to be alive. Sadly, there have been others not so fortunate. Our thoughts are with their families and friends at this dreadful time. One of our ska family is still missing and we are hoping for a miracle.
  9. Weeble was at Mark's party & was very cheery (alcohol helped though).

  13. Jaggernaut's link and the film/documentary "Mugabe and the white african" might help The Mighty Quim understand what a racist is.
  14. Mugabe is a racist mass murderer.
  15. The Talks:- Ska/Reggae band with punk attitude from Yorkshire. In a short space of time the band have been building themselves a live reputation around the UK and Europe for delivering bouncing, sweaty shows supporting the likes of The Specials, Rancid, The Beat, The King Blues, The Toasters and many more. The single "Can stand the rain" features the legendary Neville Staple of The Specials released 26th November 2012. The song hit over 55 thousand views in its first week on Youtube and has been featured on Channel 4 and Channel 5 shows including UKs popular show ‘Hollyoaks’. New EP WestSinister is out now and The Talks are touring throught the UK and Europe throughout the summer of 2013". Try and see them at the Glasgow Ska Train in Pivo Pivo on Friday 13th Sep.

  18. Supported by ESPERANZA & THE AMPHETAMEANIES. Last chance to buy £19 tickets (£5 less than face value, once you add the mugging fee on). These reduced tickets benefit Esperanza and The Amphetameanies (instead of the venue and ticket agencies). If anyone wants any, PM me please. Thanks.
