  1.

I don't and have never claimed to be a tactician and therefore don't tend to suggest the team line-ups, but there's no way I'd start with six midfielders. I don't think it's particularly important to start the youth players, either. Apologies if I've picked it up wrong, but I took your comment to mean they should get a run-out regardless of the situation with injuries.

  2. That's a good point. There aren't many RoI players I would have in the Scotland squad; but I think the fact that the Irish went out and got a genuinely top class manager, whilst we went out and got a guy who was sacked by Leicester City, probably explains a lot.

RoI don't have many great players but they do have a few good ones and Trappatoni has moulded them in to an effective, hard tae beat outfit - a bit like then Craig Brown era Scotland team.

McGeady, Doyle, Keane, Given, McCarthy,Duff and Dunne would all easily make any Scotland squad.

  3. i had to watch that penalty claim over 4 times to make sure I wasn't seeing things, Dods is lying on the deck waiting for the ref to give a pen and can't believe his luck when its not given, absolute shocking decision.wee ugly knawing rat featured scumbag referee. good finish from rowser and erskine. the wee ballboys celebrating was classic[/quote

An absolute stick on handball foul. Collum hesitates then gives nothing. He had a great view too-despite telling the complaining jags players he was unsighted.

  4. To me Naismith was by a distance our best forward over the last two games and one of the few on the park who looked comfortable with International football.

edited to add; Irrespective of the frailties of our forwards, I hope Fletcher rots in what particular hell awaits him. Any person who knocks back the National Team ahould be automatically barred for life. When his agent tells him that his value could be added to with International recognition I hope he`s chased

I thought Naismith came up short against the Czechs. He's quick, energetic, and has good movement but his first touch- an absolute essential at this level- is anything but comfortable. The result of this was that he gave the ball away- most notably just before the Czechs scored their opening goal. He was marginally better against Lithuania. He scored a decent goal but his goal to chances missed ratio suggests he's far from the shark in the box that he thinks he is.

  5. Nothing more cringe-worthy than a badge kisser. I seem to recall a Mr F. Torres kissing the Liverpool badge once upon a time. I think Paton has done it too...no need.

I don't think this particular example of badge kissing has the cringe factor. It's not as if he's trying to dupe us into thinking Thistle are his first love. However, he's just scored a fantastic goal on his professional debut. Something that he'll remember for the rest of his life. A wee bit of appreciation for the opportunity that Thistle has given him is ok with me.

  6. O'Donnell should provide competition for a number of positions. The way the team's shaping up I think Jackie wants to include a purely defensive midfielder for balance. If Robertson's not up to the job then perhaps O'Donnell will get a shot at it.

  7. Thought we played well generally; Flannigan was pish, and didnt look interested. Robertson wasnt great but maybe still short of fitness. Both fullbacks were great. Cairney was a close second for MotM; looked much better on the left linking up with Sinclair. Overall we should have won

I thought Flannigan played well today- fantastic assist for the goal- although he cetainly tired late on.

Christie Elliot reminded me of another tall quick striker we had from down south:Leon Considine. A great debut from the big man; can see him doing really well for us.

  8. Just a thought, why don't we all email the club and request, insist, plead, beg, demand etc etc, that the Lawman is prsented in front of the jackie just one last time.......We want a few more bums on seats, well for one game only that may just be the answer......how many stay away fans could resist the chance to say that final farewell and thanks for the memories to the Lawman....Can almost hear the chant of "BOBBY LAW RAVE ON" building and building in my head...That man is a legend who never got what he deserved from the club.....let us thank him, hell we could lift the roof awf the Jackie !!

Bugger it i'm awf to get the ball rolling...email on its way.

Altogether now......BOBBY LAW RAVE ON, BOBBY LAW RAVE ON, BOBBY LAW RAVE ON.

Another email on its way. I loved Bobby Law. Could never understand the abuse he sometimes got.

  9. All of that can be applied to Buchanan as well.

Our team don't tend to create a lot of clear cut chances for our strikers. You only have to look at the goals we have scored this season to see that. If or when these clear cut chances are provided to the strikers I'd rather have Doolan ahead of Buchanan every time.

No it can't. Buchanan, although small in height, has good upper body strengh. He is also better on his weaker foot then Doolan. On form, he can hold the ball up and go past players. He can also create goals for others. The ball for Doolan to score against Ayr earlier in the season a case in point. He's actually a very good crosser of the ball as he has shown in his spells playing wide in a front three.

  10. Poor in what sense? because he isn't scoring goals? even though out of all our strikers he looks the most dangerous and able to score?

He shouldn't even be taking Doolan off for Buchanan. Buchanan has done nothing of note for months. His miss in extra time up in Dingwall sums him up now.

Buchanan deserves to be out of that first team. I will be extremely pissed off if McCall drops Doolan for Buchanan.

He's not scored for six games; gives the ball away too often; has no physical presence; he's too one footed- which is never good for a striker; and creates very little. I think at the very most he has one more start in him.

  11. Doolan has done nothing to merit being dropped and should start on Saturday.

This season he has been far far far better than Buchanan.

Yes, he has- he's been poor since he stopped scoring. Time to get Liam back in.

  12. That is the great enigma that bursts my bits !!!

Attack is the best form of defence.. Craig Levein is a feckin arse in regard to that!

If we are attacking them...they are defending..end result is ..they are not attacking us...is it a rocket science ?

But what if they're better that attacking then you? Playing it attacking would've left us open at the back allowing their pacey forwards to get in behind. Sitting deep and hitting on the break was the way to beat Falkirk today.

  13. Why did we spend the second 50 minutes defending so deep? There were times when our front two were holding them just outside their area but our midfield were almost all in our eighteen yard box.

Because Falkirk have a number of very nippy players. Playing deep means they can't get in behind us. McCall got the tactics absolutely right today.

  14. another in agreement with that. Also backs up what I said about Roberts yesterday. I remember him constantly talking Liam thru a game.

What? A seasoned pro talking a young lad through a game? Whit's going to happen next?
