Whatever happens tomorrow night I have really enjoyed this league campaign and in particular how we have played since the restart. It feels like years since we I have seen players in a Thistle jersey with pace, skill and promise like Tiffoney and Rudden or leaders with a will to win like Graham, Foster, Bell, Brownlie and Docherty. I've also really enjoyed reading the contributions to the forum as its the closest thing we have right now to attending games.
On all the other occassions I have seen Thistle win a league we have usually got over the line with a couple of games to spare but this season is much more a nail biter and being able to reel Cove and Falkirk back in from so far behind has been a great watch.
Whilst the drama of the playoff win against Peterhead was stunning the standard of play and style of football we had to endure in that season was not enjoyable at all.
I think you have to go back to 1991/92 when we needed a point against Forfar at home to pip Hamilton on goal difference in front of a packed firhill. I remember the gasp of the crowd when Forfar had a stonewall penalty claim that thankfully the referee missed.
Here's hoping that tomorrow night we get the result we need to get this over the line and if could do it without the heart stopping moments of 30 years prior then that would be great but then again it probably wouldn't be the Thistle way.
I'll have my fingers crossed, touched wood, grasping lucky white heather, making bargains with a god I don't believe in whilst watching the game through my fingers just like I did 30 years ago.
C'Mon the Jags, one more win tomorrow and we're there!
A certain, current St. Johnstone goalkeeper was at that game with his mum and dad. He was minus six weeks old as his mum was still pregnant.

If I remember correctly, we were winning 1-0 when Gerree was sent off and we lost 1-2.
A rankers supporting colleague said that results like that win you titles. I reminded him that results like that can also get you relegated.

Well done BB for all your work over the years.

Was this one of the pre-season tours of the highlands?

I remember our first league game in Inverness. Trigger scored 2 against us, then hitched a lift on our team bus back down the road. Dropped him off at Stirling services I think. We signed him at the end of that season.

Just heard that the coach for Saturday has been cancelled. Don’t know if they’re using a different company or using the supporters coaches.

Harkins didn’t travel north today.

According to OS commentary it was 3-4-1-2 with Elliot and Penrice playing as wing-backs and Spittal just behind front two of Storey and Fitzpatrick. Late in the game McCarthy came on for Anderson (probably tiring as not been playing so regular) and we went to a back four with an extra man in midfield.
I was sitting just behind the Thistle dug-out when Anderson came off. He was getting the usual abuse from the home fans for taking his time. “Geez a break” he replied, “ I’m an auld man”

Heard on the radio on the way home from Dumfries that 11 ex Thistle players scored in Scotland today.

Robbie Neilson?
He was at the game today. Thought he may have been watching us as his opponents for next week.

The same guy said that the most exciting moment for Thistle fans was when “Christie pulled down Erskine” , but Erskine made a meal of it and that’s why the ref never gave it
-
So, will it be back to a midweek game or will common sense prevail again and use the free weekend on March 24th

Are tickets being sold to fans who use the North Stand?
Only if you put wheels on the North Stand and drive it to Motherwell.
Hmmm.
Now there's an idea

I always remember when Harry was getting on the supporters bus. didn't matter how far away we were going, the first thing he would ask was if I would get him back in time for the bingo.
R.I.P Sir. A true jags legend who will be sadly missed. Condolences to Mary, Heather and the rest of his family.
