  1. Probably not. Give the guy another month and he might pull it around. I hope he does it. At the moment I am a tad worried that he can't.

This has been a surprisingly bad season for PTFC, and I for one, cannot see an easy way out of this disaster.

  2. Dear Javajag,

" Thesis-Antithesis....synthesis  " is pretty much dialectical materialism. " Dialectical connection", from, say our providers to our strikers, which has been somewhat missing this season?

If, my friend, you can translate dialectical connection onto a team that ought to be doing better, well, most fans would be with you.

    I know I would.

  3. Is O'dea even a possibility for us?  In any case, we need a right back, and I don't know whether Darren O'Dea could fulfill that position, Perhaps he can. In a 4 -3-3, sort of formation.

If  he can, it would enhance our defensive armoury quite a bit,

Because we are weak on crosses.

    Just saying.

  4. I am a wee bit puzzled about the relative freedom to publish video highlights between Falkirk and us. If it is exact the same time how come there are two posts above this referencing Falkirk sources and no Thistle sources quoted above?  Second half commentary from our chums at Jagzone, suggest a substantially different late second half.

I am obviously asking for a friend.

  5. I have followed this thread through thick and thin. There are times when it was like a ghost ship with nothing whatsoever happening. Those of you that kept it alive, I salute you!

This is an incredible outcome, for the player himself, those on the board that were willing to take a position, and whoever was advising us on the legal position.

  6. I kind of hope that The 'policemans whistle' is right. Though the longer this drags out, the less confident I become. Call me a pessimist, why don't you?

An update from the club, whether positive or negative, would be much appreciated by us mere fans. Their silence, or have I missed something, is not reassuring.

  7. I hope that PTFC have taken serious legal advice on this situation.  At first blush it seems wrong to me that a footballer, or anyone else for that matter, can be held prisoner by an employer. However, if he has been paid in advance for services to be rendered,  that muddy's  the water a bit. There are contracts floating around that stop an ex-employee from working for another, rival, firm, usually time constrained.  I assume that that applies to footballers as much as to nuclear scientists?

I hope we get this all cleared up. He would be an exciting signing.

  8. Would be interested in having him back. Whether we can compete on the wages front is another thing altogether.

Our central defence would, I think, look a bit stronger than it has for a while.

Anyone got a view on whether he has improved or not since his last time here?

  9. I kind of agree with the clear out. It seems to me that, as a fan, we can't keep injured players on indefinately, much as I would like us to.

I think the next few months will tell us whether Archies 'out' will be betttered by Archie's 'in'.

That will be the measure of the man.

He has to get this right,,

    So, no pressure.

  10. This thread has been reported for moderation. Frankly I'd rather y'all moderated yourselves. We are all a bit upset but the one element of this club that is largely blameless are fellow fans. Bit of mutual repect please!

  11. BowenBoys.

    You say:

"I'm sure that they have made it clear to AA what is expected of him this season and the extent to which they will back him. I hope they gave him better guidance than "we must return to playing football like Partick Thistle", whatever that means."

The season before last we, largely played the ball into feet. We played wing backs who actually were wing backs. We did not crumble and play boots up the park and pretend it was a tactic.

I think, correct me if I am wrong, that Alan Archibald has to go back to believing in football.

On a final comment, everyone in the team has to work on their 'final ball' which has become a disgrace. We have squad players that have that ability, James Penrice, for example, and we favour guys that can't even keep it within the lines?

    WTF?

I attended both games against Livingston, my throat is still sore. That was utterly abject and, y'know what? Much as expected.  Mr Archibald has to raise his tactical ideas to the extent that we impose on the opposition rather than the other way around. This next season will determine whether he has the 'chops' for it or not. I hope he does, but if he doesn't, he's gotta go.

    So, no pressure.
