No because that would be racist, you utter bell end

Perhaps you didn’t appreciate the point I was trying to make.

Sad that you should resort to making rude personal comments. I’ve contacted Admin and asked how to de-register from the site.

Thanks for all the contributions from many of the fans over the years.

    Au Revoir

Draw was fair result. And happy with it after sending off. Thought Murray showed more than in previous weeks. Hope Docherty's knee injury not that bad, although I think Gordon can play deeper and maybe makes space for Lyons or Spittal.

    A fair constructive comment

Jimmy was before my time at Firhill, PTFC1942.  In the "Partick Thistle Legends" book, he is described as a free kick specialist, and a tribute said "As an attacking half-back he has few equals  and few can put more venom and direction into a  free kick."

It's well known that after his playing career finished, he returned to Firhill as a groundsman for about 15 years, but less well known is that as a 14 year old in 1939, Jimmy was a "Bevin Boy" down the pits at the start of World War Two.  I think his first senior outing was in 1945, where the Jags had a clash of fixtures.  The first team went to Germany to play a game against an Army 11, and Jimmy got his debut at the same time in Inverness, against a Clach side.  He never looked back, although he took a couple of years to become firmly established in the first team.

My dad used too know Jimmy Davidson and was Dad’s favourite.

When Jimmy was groundsman, my dad couldn’t get to the game  and as he didn’t want to disappoint me ( and make sure  I was looked after), I arrived at Firhill on my own, into the main entrance and asked Molly for Mr Davidson. JD duly arrived.

Me “ This is from my Dad Mr Davidson “ ( passing over an obviously wrapped up half bottle)

JD “ Come wi me son”

I was taken to the back of the stand just in front of the press box to watch the game.  I must have been all of ten years old.

Talk about ‘ happy days’ ?

I seem to have a problem as well. Payment showed up on my card app, but the payment page stuck on 'please wait' for several minutes then timed out and I never got a confirmation email

I was timed out but still received a confirmation e mail. A very very poor system and has been for some time,  the club hasn’t recognised this or indeed done anything to rectify it.

Seven keepers have a 100% record but they faced only 7 kicks in doing so. In context of a meaningful number of kicks faced Andy Murdoch (29%), Kenny Arthur (28%), Bobby Johnstone (27%), Johnny Tuffey, Nicky Walker and Willie Campbell (all 25%) lead the way. Bobby Johnstone’s feat of saving 5 consecutive penalties he faced (October 1937 to February 1938) was a noteworthy achievement.

In contrast, Billy Ritchie with no saves from 10 kicks has the worst record. Curiously, another ex-Rangers keeper George Niven (a fine keeper) had only 1 save from 28. 1 save from 38 for this ex-Ibrox duo is far from impressive. Perhaps they didn’t get enough practice when playing for Rangers! Ironically Richie saved a penalty against his old club on 1/1/1970 but the referee ordered a re-take (encroachment). It was shot wide.

A notable achievement by reserve keeper Robert McFarlane deserves a mention. The “Dumfries and Galloway Standard” reported that in a match against Kilmarnock reserves at Rugby Park on 27/10/1945 the referee ordered a penalty to be re-taken 6 times because he deemed that McFarlane had moved too soon. He saved the 7th attempt with a “legitimate” save. This relatively obscure report does not mention if the first 6 kicks were saved but it must be assumed that the referee would not have continued to penalise the opposition if they had already found the net. The event is confirmed by a reply in a readers’ letters column in the “Daily Mail” 22/1/1992. It suggested Kilmarnock hold the record for the number of re-taken penalty kicks. Difficult to disagree with that! The Kilmarnock “taker” was left-half Whyte.

    Thanks for this AKF.

I’ve been trying to get the facts of that story for a couple decades now.  I knew it was against Killie but was always led to believe that it was us who had to re-take the pen 6 times and that we eventually missed, which I must admit seemed to fit in with Thistle folklore.

Hats off to McFarlane, wonder what the possibility  of that happening today would be? What with VAR an’ all.

I think the problem, at least today, is that Graham is too high up the park.

It's difficult to get beyond him when he is so far up and any crosses from wide positions are often to an already crowded box.

I'd like Graham to sit back a bit and time his runs better and allow players to break beyond him.

He seems to be waiting up front like some kind of target man and it's quite easy to defend against.

Similar to the way Kane’s manager has changed his roll at Spurs.

I don’t think it’s appropriate he is mentioning mental health issues of either players/staff or officials without their permission.
Mental health is a very touchy subject to people (especially males), what I will say is well done to those that asked for help, and well done to Gerry and Jacqui for listening and getting them help.

How do you know it was mentioned without  their permission?

When I started my spot was right at the front just about above the letter E on the wall. Having said that I remember being in the stand at Thistle v a team from south of the river when the crowd was so big that some people were on the grass in front of the wall. That game is etched in my brain - 3 January 1959 - George Smith 2 h*ns 0!

Wasn’t the HT scoreboard moved to the middle and  rear  of the city end Before being removed? Or is that just my memory playing tricks?

We were turning a profit prior to Colin Weir appearing.
The difference between them and us being there seems to be a long line wanting to help Rangers but we have no line anymore

Agreed, but still doesn’t alter the fact we’d be much worse off if Mr Weir hadn’t helped.

Rangers have a huge fan base so it isn’t surprising there’s a queue of folk wanting to invest/donate.

Bank or books it’s all the same, money comes into bank from Park , Bennet and Co via soft loans and balances the books

I don’t think we can comment too much Norge, we’ve been more than helped by a guy - who was worth 160M - for several years.

Agree 100% but we need someone to break that circle like we did as you say with Lambie and latterly when we gave Jackie  Mac and Simon Donnelly a chance .

Its not working just now , I would put a couple of names forward Darren Young and Stephen Craigen to get the Academy going .

You find the money to pay them and I’m sure the club would consider their employment.

According to the Herald we only have 13 outfield players and 2 goalkeepers available. Snedden, Scullion, O'Ware, McKenna, Rodden, Rudden, Docherty Graham, Kouider-Aissa all either injured or suspended. Pre-Covid I might have added the first 3 up to Firhill with their boots could be on the bench.

You can now add Spittal to the long term injury list
