Several issues arise from this decision.

Hearts made a commercial decision to return to training. Others chose not to. They are being financially punished for their return, and being disadvantaged for the cup semi final.

Other lower tier teams made their decisions not to return to training for commercial purposes.  Queen of the Farce only have three registered players!  They couldn't even put out a five a side team!  With the cup semi final, there were anyways going to be anomalies in training schedules. No reason to play the "disadvantage" card. That is a convenient excuse.

I said during the court case that Doncaster only set up the bottom two tier leagues return because of the court case.  I also still have concerns about the return of these leagues.  Thank heaven Doncaster wasn't given executive power for this season.  We do now need to work with some of the clubs that voted against us to form sufficient numbers to block any proposal to end the lower tiers.  Voting rights as per last season's shutdown still apply.  You can bet your bottom dollar that the social club mendicant teams will want to mothball. Hopefully there are sufficient ambitious teams to block this vote.

All we want to  do is play football.  As said repeatedly above the errant clubs will not be touched.  Doncaster's sacred Sky contract must be fulfilled!

    Well said Sir.

Clyde V Thistle. Big Glasgow derby, should give the media something to talk about as no other big game that weekend.

When I warned our fans that this was a futile enterprise, I was personally attacked, my qualifications were brought into question and my analysis was dismissed as uninformed opinion.

This isn't gloating. This is vindication. Perhaps next time people won't dismiss people who know what they're ******* talking about?

If there is one thing worse than a sore loser, it’s a bad winner.

A big dod of humility wouldn’t go amiss WJ.

Yes, Hearn did a 'lecture' to an audience of Scottish Football Directors and Chief Executives. It was posted  by one of members. Apologies I can't recall the poster.  I think Hearn started his talk by saying something like "he doesnt know much about football but having looked at the figures and having no sponsor it seems neither do you"

Would have liked to have been listening it to that 'talk'.

Perhaps the original poster can add to/correct the above!

His quote was, " I'm not an expert on Scottish football and listening to your (financial ) figures it doesn't seem like you are either."

He also said "It is archaic for a customer not to be able to buy an alcoholic drink at a function or a sporting event"

    and,

"The fact that you've got a Scottish Premiership without a sponsor, do you know how long  you'd work for Barry Hearn if that was the case? You wouldn't have time to take your coat off, you'd be in the car park."

Shamefully, I think it is a pretty accurate summation of how Scottish football is administered.

Erskine and Paton to 5th tier East Kilbride? Wtf? Surely there are better options for both players?  Are they getting other employment out of whoever is backing them?  I'd have taken both back.

You’re not far off the mark

SPFL being the premiership only or all 42 clubs ?

He said “. 40-50% of the SPFL” so  I assume he meant all 42 clubs, although quite a few of our Championship  teams wouldn’t cut it in the National League.

He also said that if you thought watching 2 teams  in the lower half of the premiership playing on a plastic pitch was a good product then “ you were kidding yourself”

    Unfortunately I agree, wholeheartedly.

What? He may get more money, but he deserves a bigger team surely

    Whit? Yer ‘avin a laugh.

League 1 in England is the highest level he could ever achieve or have they been relegated to league 2 ?
I agreed with Gordon Strachan’s recent comments that at least 50% of the SPFL wouldn’t survive in the English National League ( 5th tier)

Why would the arbitration panel take into account a completely separate legal point not to do with the matter before them?

You can’t expel a club that goes straight to arbitration. They haven’t broken any rules if they do that...

In much the same way that a vaccine for coronavirus being ready within a month hasn’t been ruled out. It’s not very ******* likely though.

The arbitration panel has the power to reach a legally binding judgment about the legal dispute that exists between the SPFL and Hearts/Thistle. Namely it has the power to rule whether the resolution should be annulled for procedural impropriety/undue influence and it has the power to decide whether either party owes the other money by way of damages/compensation and/or costs. It also has certain powers as to publicity or otherwise of any settlement reached between the parties.

Yes I know he did. But it’s a public document that has been available since before even the original vote on the SPFL resolution. Anyone concerned that the SFA was going to be biased in any out of court arbitration was plainly ignorant and jumping to conclusions based on tedious shite like “oh Neil Doncaster is also on their board”.

But it was the example you chose. And it’s important because we need to distinguish (and I feel like a broken record saying this) between the matters which form part of a legal dispute and the matters that don’t.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc at its best.

Sorry mate but you’ve now levelled with Jordanhill Jag and Javejag

The Georgic was one of the last pubs to have a ladies toilet. Was a staunch "men only" bar in similar vein to Tennent's Bar and Quins at Bishopbriggs.

    Must be LOCKDOWN syndrome

I suggest the BING should have the first wood planted in a stadium where you can adopt a tree to raise funds.  The wood will be made up of FIR trees which later can be harvested by the club again to raise funds.  But more importantly we would have our very own FIRHILL and it would be good for the enviroment. :D   Could help with that breath of fresh air everyone is asking for at the moment too.

Was there ever a hill of firs? Maybe over the the old canal bridge around Murano St?

I know that there had been some people who had not been able to sign up for the Centenary Fund as they could not set up a Standing Order but in now looks like you can sign up for a monthly payment in the same way Jagzone works:

Hope this helps for those that have been looking to sign up. Also, well done to the most recent winner for the Car Draw:

We’ve been able to pay monthly for as long as I can remember.

we need outside thinking at the club.  the post stj regime left us in a heap. it was all down to john lambie turning it round on the field and it collapsed when he left. what was their end result. no youth academy, a three sided stadium, no training ground, and a mountain of debt.

we are almost back where we started. all the above more or less still exist and we also have an even worse team now.

gerry britton saying today in the daily record this is going to cost the club 300,000. part-time football may have to happen. fan ownership has really paid off hasnt it. if that the case the first thing a rubbish third tier football team should be doing is getting rid of the chief executive. we don't need one if we're going to run a small time setup. thistle has always been jobs for the boys anyway. archie, gerry britton, mccall, kenny arthur, maxie, fans working for the club and running it. far too cosy. its alright, a guy run out of stirling bloody albion will sort it.

lets face it the pool of thistle fans with the knowledge and the money to offer the club has dried up. chien lee should have been welcomed with open arms, we are on our arse as it is with the bowling club mentality rife as ever.

Hard to disagree with most of that. We’re exactly right back where we started with no consolidation achieved, whatsoever

Also interesting the apparent toxicity between the support of the two teams. Just from reading a few of the posts what I see is complete and total hatred  ……. But one team without the other could not exist  …… It follows then, if the Govan ugly sister goes bust, how long before the Bridgeton ugly sister would follow? I wonder if this virus might in the long run [but for all the wrong reasons] produce a positive impact on Glasgow?

    If only........

Is there a case perhaps for merging Divisions 1 and 2 into Div 1 North and Div 1 South? I've never understood the logic of asking Elgin City to travel to Stranraer midweek or vice versa.  It would certainly reduce travelling costs for clubs and supporters and part-time players wouldn't need to take time off work to travel to these fixtures.  The North and South top teams could play off for promotion. Clubs relegated from the Championship would slot in to the North or South division depending on location.

Seems to be a sensible proposition.  I wonder what reasons the governing bodies would give to its objection?

Deep frustration on the merch front. I have a new supplier but their production times are being affected by the lockdown (as is Royal Mail) and I'm waiting for  colour samples.

It's a shame as this would be a good time to get some red and yellow products out and raise some cash for the club. I have a website sitting ready to showcase the goods. Hopefully soon...

In the meantime, thought I would share my latest. Brought to you by BB Enterprises with thanks to the chaps at the Highway Code.
