  1. Like a previous poster i agree almost to the word robbo, rowser, archie, will be consistent and dependable but can they be good every week? cairney is the potential in the squad and the one who if he screws the nut can go on and better himself, but thats a big "if" buchanan too injury prone, ive almost given up, but if he hits form most teams will fear him. MacBeth has to come good this season, somethin has to happen with the youngsters, even winning the challenge cup with 3-4 u-19s playing or somethin would be great. Not too optimistic this season, still have faith in McCall Britton Cameron Donnelly McNamara long term to give us good youngsters and be back in the premier league in 5 years, we are thistle, have faith my friends and stick by the cause! Like a previous poster, pret
  2. hillcoat is without doubt the worst collumnist ever in the history of football, why pay any attention to what he says? read his column first few weeks he was in paper, was just a collection of anecdotes about players with nicknames doing "zany shit" in the dressing room... "yes, me and big chugger mcgraw glued big choppers toes together when he fell asleep on the team bus once...what a to-do!!!..." "yes, once me and big danny "hard-as-nails" smith hid wee sammy "the snake" clellands socks...what a to-do!!...." "what a to-do one day in the dressing room, when the gaffer couldn't find his favourite mug for drinking his coffee, little did he know big cruncher mcdougall had stole it...what a to-do!..." **** off hillcoat ya w@nk
  3. the article makes no reference to compo, we definitely entitled to it? i saw something about celtic waiting until after the world cup to sign ledley as they'd found the loophole that meant no comp.
  4. I'd be content with a mid-table finish aslong it's a building block in terms of the youngsters getting regular first team football this season. Can see Falkirk Dunfermline Dundee maybe County making up the top 4, Stirling and Cowden bottom two, we'll finish anywhere in between that, which I'd take but it has to be with an eye on the on the following season in terms of bringing through the youth.
  5. I've always been a fan of veteran midfield general David Rowson, and young dynamo Paul Cairney.
  6. Owen Coyle definitely is one that I wish we'd signed - we would have won the 1st Division by Christmas if he'd signed with us that year!
  7. They could probably still pay a shitload more than us, and if he's guarenteed a game that'd be enough to help him become NI number 1. Still hope a bigger club than that come in for him, he's better than Burton Albion.
  8. What we really don't need is a experienced journeyman stopper.
  9. looking to get tickets to the 6 nations next year, hopefully to the twickenham eng scot match. doesnt have to been in scotland end as such, just want to go down with some work mates for the weekend. talking about getting hospitality. been on the official website and couldnt see any info, anyone give me any info on when ticks go on sale, and the expected cost of the hospitality for example?
  10. I'd take Kenny back but I still think there's maybe a few teams in League 2 or the Conference who could possibly pay more ages than we could. Decent enough keeper for this level, but don't see it happening.
  11. Some great memories in this thread. A cracker that pops into my mind is a lovely goal Ian Cameron scored, cutting in from the left and curling a beauty past Gilles Rousset at Tynecastle, I think to put us 5-1 up!? Fantastic stuff. Doolan's on Saturday was a lovely strike, fit to win any match. Can't really think of my favourite ever Thistle goal, for sheer celebration it would probably need to be Billy Gibson's free kick at Peterhead, or for drama, maybe Andy Gibson's winner at Dens in the Scottish Cup. Could sit up all night posin about this!
  12. Loved the Man U team of the 90s, midfield of Scholes Keane Giggs Beckham, outstanding. They played the best football I've ever seen. Better than Arsenal at their peak for me, although the invincibles team takes some beating! Have a soft spot for Crystal Palace, always look out for their score on a Saturday after I went to a game few years back. But if it was Premiership, I'd have to say my favourite is Man U. Always played the game the right way, and I love to see the passion Neville Scholes and Giggs have for their club it is inspiring.
  13. Was my first game yesterday since we got mauled 4-1 off Dunfermline at Firhill in January, just lost total interest, but felt I had to go along last day of season to ease my conscience! Was an ok game considering the circumstances, end of season, neither team anything to play for. Thought Tuff played well, sad to see him go wherever he goes, all the best to him for the rest of his career. Thought Corrigan had a solid game, and for me is a better player than Paton. Conroy steady but nothing special, don't know what the plans are for left back next season with Archie injured? Hopefully Boyle out the door from what I've heard of him, although I've hardly seen him this season. Maxy too slow, I'd chop him. Robbo played well, reads the game well. In midfield, Rowser played well, I'd keep him for next season definitely. Encouraged by what I saw from MacBeth, looks composed on the ball, confident, not afraid to have a dig or try a killer pass, he must feature more next season, I'd rather guarentee him a game than sign some journeyman diddy released from Killie or somethin. You can tell he's been coached by Sid all season, always looked like he had time on the ball, looking forward to him improving next season. Hodge was ok, wouldn't mind if we chopped him though. Sid was ineffectual behind the front 2, I've enjoyed his season, he is a class act, great touch and composure, but in terms of the first team I'd like to think if we keep him as a coach next season, his role will be bit part for next season. Grehan played well, put himself about. Get a good pre-season behind him hopefully he can improve, obviously not the finished article, but I think he looks a bit in the Scott McLean mould, can hold it up, athletic, good in the air, should have hit the target with his chances yesterday, but that will hopefully come, but encouraged a lot by Grehan. Erskine, beats a man maybe once a half and gets in a good position and his final ball isn't right, or he hasn't got the composure. I'd hold onto him, another season coming off the bench to try and change games, I don't think he'll be on a great deal in terms of a wage, so I'd give him another season, see what happens. Very impressed by Doolan when he came on, great goal, looked really keen and sharp, if the season went on another month I wouldn't bet against him scoring a few more. Again, won't be on mega bucks of a wage, worth another look next season. Thinking of next year, I don't see us having enough to mount a challenge. I've lost faith a bit in McCall's signing ability after some of the nightmares this year. Find a decent striker to play with Grehan Buchanan Doolan. MacBeth must be given more games next season, get him in every first team squad and develop him. Need a decent centre back and left back. I'd be happy with Halliwell signing on to replace JT. Something a bit different in midfield, a goal scoring midfielder would be nice. Too bad McKeown couldn't keep injury free. We need someone to do what Hardie did for us. That is all!
