  1. It also goes some way towards atoning for that dubious 10-1 defeat at East End Park in 1959, when the Pars had to win by a barrowload to avoid relegation. A weird result if ever there was one. I've often wondered whether it wasn't some kind of "brown envelope" result.

    it was

  2. For me , with (dis)honourable mentions to the Dick, and DJ there is a clear winner in my 30+ yrs watching the Jags.....step forward Sandy Clark.

Took a team with one league defeat (in the game before he was appointed away at McDiarmid) to winning 2 of the next 17. Included in that shambles was a 5-4 Hogmanay humping from Albion Rovers ffs....despite being 2 up after 3 mins and also leading 4-2 as I recall.

Archie showing up pretty well so far as stats below show (great site for the statto's amongst us!)

According to that site Bryce is one of our top ten best ever managers (% games won), well ahead of the likes of Mcparland, Auld and Lambie :shok:

  3. Obviously all our opinions are coloured by our own personal memories, making every choice here one from within the last twenty years. But surely we must have had some bloaters back in the day?

no, "back in the day" the records are all pretty good (with the exception of Scot Symon, who was a decent enough man)

George Easton 1903–1929 Scottish Cup (1920–21) Donald Turner 1927–1947 David Meiklejohn 1947–1959 3rd in the Scottish League (1947–48 & 1953–54) Willie Thornton 1959–1968 3rd in the Scottish League (1962–63) Scot Symon 1968–1970 Davie McParland 1970–1974 League Cup (1971), Division Two (1970–71) Bertie Auld 1974–1980 Division One (1975–76)

The above (pasted from wiki) doesnt even tell the full story - Scottish Cup final under Turner and 3 League Cup finals under MeikleJohn. Bertie Auld had us finish 5th a couple of times in the Premier Division.

No there is no doubt about it - in one hundered and thirty seven years, Dick Campbell stands supreme!

  4. For the grevious harm he did to the club,

    for his delusions of adequacy,

for his arrogance and contempt for Thistle fans

for being a complete tosser of a man,

    it has to be

    Dick Campbell

    DJ was a joke

Sandy Clarke totally lost the dressing room

Collins, Bryce etc werent up to it. Mcveigh was unlucky

But no one amost killed the Jags the way that Campbell did.

    I'll never forgive that man

  5. I've been thinking that myself. The Celtic fans have clearly had enough of Lennon. The Celtic board are unlikely to want to splash out big time, so unfortunately Jackie must be a stomg candidate if we keep doing well.

  6. Donnelly had a poor game tonight but if that's all you can post you're a waste of space on here.

Not a total waste of space mind. :)

Cheers. I thought I'd leave it others to post on the game as a whole but that Donnelly's performance was worth a topic on its own. I normally don't think Donnelly is worth a place in the team but watching him from behind the goal brought a whole new dimension to his laziness, his lack of finishing ability and his general tendency to slow things up rather than be positive. Given his coaching role, I think his presence on the field has a negative effect on some of the players.

  7. How on earth was Donnelly still on the pitch at the end of that game? A total waste of space. Should never have started in the first place and certainly should have been subbed long before the end.

Apart from that, quite enjoyed tonight. We should finish the job at Firhill
