And how does that invalidate my point?

They may be old (9 more years than us) but I wouldn't argue that they have a more illustrious history than ours - in the 1890s maybe.

Their fanbase won't grow significantly, to match the size of ours. They are getting by by being bankrolled currently.

My worry always was that QP have the resources, ambition, and organisation to become Glasgow's 3rd club. Heaven knows they have a far more illustrious history and tradition than we can ever hope for. Now, that reality really could come to pass.

Calm down FFS. They have about 300 fans, havn't won a major trophy since the 1890s. They aren't going to magic up fans from somewhere in Glasgow. At worst we have a diehard fan base of 2000-3000, which is 5-10x theirs. Results are going to be more even from now on, simply because there is currently a lot of money behind them.

  3. Not many complaints from me for this season. Couldn't criticise a lack of effort over those 2 ties. Consecutive promotions was unlikely. Graham and Rudden were a good combination but I don't think we had any means of holding on to the latter, and the replacements in Jakubiak, and especially Alegria, were a disappointment.

We did well to cling on to a play off spot actually after some dreaful form, with some hard fought wins. We gave it a go.

My eyes hurt. For any young science-oriented scholars just now: obviously, there is going to be a big future in dementia care.

Clearly, Jakubiak has the same problem that Simon Donnelly had in front of goal: he tenses up and miskicks. Why don't football clubs ever watch what their players are doing wrong, or at least consult a sports psychologist? As for Alegría, he is all show: falling over is his best trick.

Even if we do make the playoffs, there is little likelihood of progress there. We should really be looking already at who to bring in for next season, as many of the current players are either going to be caught up by age or showing no improvement. Keeping them on will only encourage genuine talent like Sneddon to move on.

Cammy Smith is more like Simon Donnelly - tidy on the ball, but he won't drive you towards promotion.

To think That Dick Campbell was our manager years back, got to hand it to him part-time team only lost 4 games all season ,we have a management team of 3 and our performance for months has  been dire,, only glad that I am off on holiday and miss the last 2 games..

Arbroath won't be promoted this season. No sensible person would have Dick Campbell back as Thistle manager.

How she can state The foundation doesn’t meet “fit and proper” with a balance sheet like hers at her own Indigo company is beyond me.

Remember she is not a fan, was nowhere near the club till put in place by Colin and has zero cash or history tied up in our club but us as fans are being dictated by her

Noone had really heard of Colin Weir as a 'fan' either until he set up the academy.

Feel a bit sorry for QoS.  I've seen us lose like that so many times, to awful teams like Ross Co, St. J.  Ugh.

Sneddon was fantastic tonight 0- a wee bit lucky too.

Seen it happen too many times to us to feel any sympathy I'm afraid...

  8. I havn't watched an Old Firm game for over 10 years, and until it's possible for them both to lose I don't think I'll go out my way to watch another one.

Throwing missiles is nothing new, so the moral outrage is surprising. I can recall listening to the radio descriptions of the game in 1999 when Hugh Dallas was covered in blood from a coin. There was a palpable sense of unease, that people were going to be injured or killed as a result of that game.

Weren't so many missiles thrown at the 1980 Scottish Cup Final that alcohol was banned from all Scottish sports stadiums?

I used to take some sort of passing interest in these games as a child but now I just can't relate to anything about it.

Playoff at what end of the table?!? This is freefall.

Would require Dunfermline to win each of their last 6 games, which I think is extremely unlikely, and for others to have form in the last 6 games they havn't had all season.

    Like who

Rudden leaving and Graham + Tiffoney now injured has really cost us, Jakubiak and Alegria are diddies.

As someone has said - try to dig now for 4th and go for broke in a play off.

All emotional and rightly so and no one wants people to lose jobs but Jags bigger than any man and to echo other posters it is time for change in the dug out.  Unacceptable today.

I would have agreed, if today had been in the context of a season being near the bottom of the league. There isn't any real justification to sack McCall this season.

Really poor game management. Ball at ICT corner flag 2 mins into added time. Just boot the ball off an opponent & take your time with shy or corner.

In fairness I think they tried to do that but ICT managed to break very quickly.

I suppose its easy to judge people in every situation if their particular way of seeing things or their actions are contrary to those of the majority.

Some people are trypanophobic (fear of needles), others have religious beliefs which don't allow such treatment and others just refuse to be vaccinated for whatever reason.

There are ways to deal with the fear of needles, religious reasons are more difficult to address but I have to admit the latter do cause me a problem.

I would simply ask those who refuse to be vaccinated and who fall into the latter category to think of their potential impact on  and consequences  of their position  for others. The impact of course could be a short or prolonged period of ill-health or in fact a fatality. In the latter case the impact, like the virus, multiplies, spreads to the  victims family and friends in terms of bereavement and the loss of a loved one.

    That's a hell of a responsibility.

I can't find any evidence of any well-established religious faiths which are against vaccination.

Talking of dross ex-managers, the Bunnet is attracting a bit of media attention. The Courier reports that Fergie phoned to congratulate him on taking Arbroath top. The article also conveys how bitter he is about being sacked by Thistle. Poor lamb

Read the article. Dick name-dropping everywhere. I wonder if the phone calls really happened...Alex Ferguson saying to Dick Campbell "you're good enough to go to the top", well I wonder...

Got us relegated, scraped through a play-off, then we were heading to relegation again. No one in their right mind would have him back at Thistle.

  15. All in all I think we are doing fine. Unbeaten in 5 i the league, a gap between us and the bottom half, in contention for a promotion play-off. If we acheive that I think it would be a very satisfactory season. As a football team we are far away from where we were 2 years ago - in a good way.

  16. We aren't neccessarily a bad side at this level but we are a distance behind the last 2 teams we have played (Inverness/Kilmarnock) who will probably be the top 2. We have had 3 decent wins so far and still in 4th place currently. If we finish there and have a shot at a play-off that would be a very good season.

We scraped out of this league all those years ago with a fortunate victory over Peterhead.

Correct, lest we forget. We were, by and large, dreadful that season under Dick Campbell (and let's not forget, he got us relegated to Division 2 the previous season, with probably still the worst Thistle team I have ever seen). Off the top of my head - at Firhill, 0-3 v Stirling Albion & Gretna, 0-6 v Gretna at Firhill...I'm thinking players like Darren Brady, Mark McChrystal, Willie Kinniburgh, Jimmy Gibson...

Boab McCulloch battered in a few free kicks, but Mark Roberts almost single-handedly dragged us to promotion that season...and apart from that, it was rubbish. But we slithered out of there in the end...
