Teams long ago sussed out Lawless: just get two on him so that he can't cut inside, and he doesn't have the pace to outrun the younger guys on the outside any more. Well, he managed it once near the very end, and we almost scored from that. Both Lawless and Fitzpatrick contribute to the negative play by actually running backwards and waiting motionless on the wing to receive a mostly sideways past. Force them to do that and any threat we pose is largely nullified, because the defenders can prepare.
I'm a tactical numpty, but if even I can see that, then other teams do.
Exactly this, switch it up if it’s not working. Every team that watches us know what lawless is gonna do.. and they doubled up on Fitz, both can play either side. I feel like an idiot but ffs. Lawless actually had more joy down that side .. a feel like an idiot repeating myself but get your best player where they are weaker. They then have to change the way they are playing.

Fitzpatrick has been ******* awful and he couldn’t even try switching lawless and him sides to get him into the game. Inept as a manager.

We signed one of the best rated defenders in the league on a 18 month contract and didn’t rest Muirhead who has played every game this season im sure.
Lawless and Fitzpatrick have started nearly every single game and we don’t have and one to fill in for them.
So if you want to talk about strategy and mistakes, Alston has been absolutely shocking bar 2 decent goals..
McDonald got released after, what 5 months ? Williamson signed for a lower league team than we are in.
We have Williams who was apparently a great player and Doolan hyped up having a scouting team in place because we got him? But we used our Budget in January to bring in Oreilly.
What’s our options for the way he plays ? We only have 2 wide players at the club. At least mix it up a bit.
Biggest shock to me at this point is Milne and Fitz signed new deals.
Useless recruitment. Best work we have done is keeping players McCall signed big ******* shock ! Fed up with them.

So we bumped McCall replaced him with a Legend with no experience then replace Doolan with a “Newish Legend” with No Experience - thats not a plan on any level
However the scary thing is the Board will do exactly that
McCalls Recruitment was very good out with some terrible loans, we are now back to terrible recruitment and terrible defending / game management. We are worse off now !
Ships going down we won’t make the play offs this year. I was done on Friday when everyone blamed them the Ref.. wasn’t the refs fault.
Anyone with ******* sense can see that Bannigan is finished ! Fitz and Lawless need a break .. and the subs Doolan makes are erratic and completely mis shapes the team.

Younger players have been absolutely robbed of game time. How promising did McKenzie look in midfield, aswell as Stanway and Diack has had a decent contribution to the team when called upon.
Moral looks ******* terrible, we only have Lawless and Fitzpatrick who can play wide.. Lyon is a good option to have from when I’ve watched him and he’s away on loan ?
Playing Banzo along with Macbeth in midfield doesn’t work they are both slow. Yet because of a shite ref performance he stuck to the same team.

Lawless and Fitz need a rest just play every defender we have on Saturday. Hope we are not losing until 75 mins and bring every attacking player we have on.
Tactics, formations and setting up the team are already oot the windae way this guy anyway !

I’m done he doesn’t have a clue. Stanway has more bite and fight in him than mcinroy and Bannigan put together. We lack someone who can come on and influence a game and he put Lyon on loan, who had a few great performances.
The younger players are better than the ones we are using just now, Lawless and Fitz need a rest and he just won’t do it ! We don’t have the players for it and it’s his fault. Some of the signings are as bad as the ones Archie made when we got relegated.

Signed the boy from Raith and he couldnt get in that team. Bet he wishes he stayed now. -

I knew the goalkeeper situation would be a absolute fall back on how we played tonight no matter what.. Mitchell knows the the back 4 far better than him.. so the blame lies with Doolan for that no?

Doolans recruitments been terrible, his game management is shocking. If we lose today I hope he walks away because it’s getting ridiculous.
Sorry but he had a new manager bounce and it lasted a bit longer than it should have, he’s now been found out as clueless. Always a Club Legend just isn’t a manager. Not going today no sitting watching it again.
Our midfield is absolutely shocking, the boy Macbeth’s just in the door from junior fitbaw, he might come good given time.
Stanway should be starting before anyone in that midfield he’s a least mobile. Anytime we give the ball away and the other team break we are the so slow getting back in the middle of the park, it just puts an already shite CB pairing under more pressure.
