Just wondering what fellow supporters are making of our current crop of youngsters in The Development Team?to be frank and honest what I have seen lately I am not overly impressed, what do you think folks

We had a lot of time on the ball in the first half but our play is laborious. It's all very well switching play and carrying the ball up the wing but it's all so ponderous. Dundee always had plenty of time to regroup as we were so indecisive going forward.
In the second half they came at us because, as usual, we let them. They attacked us in our penalty area. The goals were inevitable.
I am beginning to worry that there is a negative mindset at the club. We seem to start each game thinking that, at 0 - 0, we have a point to defend. If we go into the lead we have three points to defend. If so, that's not the players fault. It comes from above.
Same old Same old,AAs ability to make positive changes to our game plan when the opposition changes theirs is a worry, doesnt seem able or willing to adjust, like for like substituitions don't work I'm afraid.Better crowd yesterday, how many will be back?,

Its fine saying sack ArchiE, who are we going to replace him with ?
For me he needs 4 points before the new year break to be safe.
The problem I think is in defence, Devine is no leader , he allows Barton and Edwards to fall back on him and Keown thus surrendering the midfield and creating the problem of too many men in one area. A big ugly centre back is needed to drag the team forward and up the park.
Is the Left back in the u-20s capable of stepping up ?
Can I suggest that anything less than 6 points is not acceptable,we are not playing at all well,at least last season we were looking like we could beat teams, not this season. The reason Archie is not playing any of the Development Squad is that they are just not good enough,Mcarthy/Mclaughlin aside there are no one up to Standard I'm afraid.Penrice is not ready yet, that is why he was farmed out to Livingston to bring him to a better level.Agree that we need a better Centre Half than the current incumbents, the defence has gone from decent to bombscare and we badly need a leader on the park, where we are going to get one I have no idea. What is worrying about Messers Clarke/Coyle is that they have wide contacts throughout the game and appear to be able to attract players whereas we struggle to attract good players for whatever reason.Injuries have not helped but we knew they were long term and failed to cover, now we realise just how important Christie was to the team.

Hello Guys
Just to let you know that I will not be at the game on Saturday as I have Chickenpox but the other sellers will be there as usual and the club are going to put a youth player in my position so no excuses for not getting a ticket.
I have also been speaking to Beth and it should be something other than a ball for the second prize.
I know we are coming in to a busy and expensive month so your support is, as always, appreciated.
Sorry to hear that you are out of action, good news re the second prize, wishing you a quick recovery.

On balance we probably make too much about formations/tactics. Granted both the 3-5-2 at Motherwell and the 4-2-3-1 yesterday were not working but in my mind it's more about the players not working that's the real cause for concern. Battlers will at least buy you time to change formation/tactics. I'll be kind and say our lot were playing with fear rather than lack of determination the last two matches but either way it amounts to the same thing. Prior to these two games I'd say there was enough mitigating circumstances to not be overcritical of the manager tho' I'd seen signs on occasion to indicate a collective attitude problem.
Changing the manager now, or in a week or two for that matter, is a judgment call I wouldn't like to make. Gut feeling tells me that having the threat of a pending dismissal will only exasperate the situation. So I'd like to think the Board will either sack Archie this month or make it clear that he'll remain manager for the entire season.
Unfortuneately the board have never been great at communicating with the support.

We were appalling across the park today, thought we were decent early in the season but the confidence seems to be draining away with each week we fail to win.
I like Paul McGinn but it's a tough ask for him to play left back for an extended period. I think we need to try and bring in an unattached left back at least short term. Bob Harris is still unattached so are Lee Naylor and Jamie Reckord. Not ideal but Booth and Elliott are miles away and we need a natural left back (unless Turnbull can play there without looking like Aero did at right back).
As an aside, infuriating we can't recall Penrice. It will make us think twice about sending guys out on potentially beneficial loans in future.
Not putting 7 subs on the bench is becoming a pet hate. Unless the young players were playing, guys like Fitzpatrick should be given a chance to be around the team. And if Fraser is fit enough to get a run out for the U20s on Tuesday, he should have been on the bench
What exactly is the point of not having a full complement of substitutes,is the manager trying to prove a point to the board?,it hands the opposition a physcological advantage and is just plain stupid.

Giving them the JHS has been done to death and if a simple fact for us now. Like it or not we will suckle the teat of the commercial devil.
But I'm willing to bet that this game, not on season book and on the TV will see the smallest home support for a game against either of the OF for many a year.
Did you see the Killie home support at the weekend? That's what happens when you repeatedly turn your home ground over to the away team, fans don't go to they games. Then fans realise it's not worth a season ticket, then they don't go to those 50/50 games as they don't have a season ticket.... and so it goes on.
It's not just the moving of the stand, every week we are being reminded to come to the aitken suite, spend your money here, help the club, meet the players after the game (I know midweek games are different, point still stands) except when we play the OF where you can go to ... well wherever as we get more money from hospitality so don't want or need you here. But please come in when we are at home to Ross County when we'll pour you a flat pint and stir it with a straw to put a head on it (honestly )
No other business could treat customers like this and get away with it. P1sses me off. I know it's about supporting the team, but the whole experience leaves a bad taste.
Had a bad day...
Well ljb I have had a ggod day and I agree with you,i don't enjoy having to move for Celtic/Rangers but like yourself getting fed up with the Treatment being dished out to our core support,at this precise moment unsure if the club will get my £15.00 which is sad,not sure if they are really bothered about us anymore.

Think that you are all doing a great job,is/would it be possible to go back to Pizza Express, from chat round and about me they were popular,is Mcdonalds a possibility?,thinking that food is more attractive to our large family support.Keep up your superb work folks.

Phil, you are a glutton for punishment, personally I would buy any design you consider appropriate, needs to be xxl though, suspect it may be a bit of a trial trying to cover the range of sizes, best of luck.

Outstanding effort Phil, well done to all who contributed.

Picked up my scarf last Wednesday evening,Quality, thanks once again for the efforts you are putting in for the club Phil.

Hello Phil, can I have one please, will pay for it at Formatine Game.

This bunch of lads play very well together, what concerns me a little is the lack of height anywhere in the team, last night was a typical example of what happens as a bigger/stronger/sleekit team bossed the game for the first 45mins,they seemed to run out of steam and some tactical changes altered the complexion of the game. Not having a commanding Centre - Half in the Linsay/Henry mould is a big disadvantage and without Kevin up front there isn't a lot to gain form any high ball, hence the need to keep it on the Deck.
-
Amoo wasn't playing in his usual position. He is normally trusted by Archie to come on and add to the defence as well as get forward so don't know where your comment about not covering back comes from.
The big man only tracks back in his own channel,he doesn't fill in spaces,it was exactly the same in the Hamilton game,i like him but he doesn't cover back,if you don't see that then you need to join AA and co on the sidelines.
-
.If we supporters can see this, then why can't the management team?
Yes,once again an opposition manager makes changes which we make no effort to counteract,we bring Big Amoo and don't play the ball in front of him,we all know he doesn't cover back well so we hand the opposition an advantage.

Thought David Wilson was the best player on the park, knocks a lovely long ball.Have to agree that the Referee was shocking, could not believe the "No Penalty"descision,he then started flashing yellow cards all over.Difficult to tell how Adam Barton will turn out, played centre mid - field, good in the air,but didn't make an outstanding contribution, heres hoping. The Team knock the ball around well, made things difficult by losing a very soft first goal, something you don't want to do against any St Johnstone side, but they stuck at it and were very unlucky to get nothing out of the game.

Think some of this lies at door of someone within Thistle.
At Airdrie, heard that stewards said Airdrie had been told by Thistle about 500 Jags fans would turn up. There was about double that.
At Firhill on Saturday in the Northy, they ran out of all hot food by one minute into the half time break, and all mince, steak, chicken pies etc had gone long before halftime whistle. Apparently, someone at Thistle had told the catering people only to expect a "couple of Jags fans" in the Northy. I'm guessing they meant a "couple of hundred" but even then, that's drastically underestimating turnout again.
So, wouldn't surprise me, if someone at Thistle has already said to Stenny we'll only bring a few hundred. Again, seriously underestimating the Jags support.
It's not as if we haven't seen it before, off top of my head, Dingwall, Tynecastle, Dundee, have all seen us visiting in substantially larger numbers in past few seasons as I've found out by talking to and finding stewards surprised by our turnout as they'd been advised by Thistle of much lower numbers.
Stenny will have to open the terracing for us, simple as that.
They ran out of hot food in the JHS also, they seemed to be surprised by the attendance.

Happy Birthday Phil.

Our generous benefactors are on record as saying -
"On winning the lottery almost three years ago, we made a decision not to speak publicly about any aspect of our lives. We are not celebrities, nor politicians, nor public figures. We try to live quiet, decent lives just as we did before."
Perhaps the club will show greater empathy with the Weirs' sentiments, avoid putting them in awkward positions and not proceed with any further ostentatious acts of gratitude to draw these good people into the public eye.
I also have reservations with the club for the misappropriation of the word "patron" and asserting it as a special title or elevated position. While the Weirs can be addressed as "patrons" and their contributions, for which I am sure we are all supremely grateful, maybe exceptional in their size and significant in what they facilitate, the lesser contributions of many fans may be no less a sacrifice to them and should entitle them to similar respect and gratitude. I have little doubt that Mr. Weir himself would be more comfortable known as a "fan" rather than "patron", and one who like many others have given and paid considerable portions of their own personal "fortunes" to the jags cause. Furthermore, I suspect, despite the phenomenal proportion of his gift, he may feel some embarrassment at the suggestion he is the "first ever" to have generously donated to, or for that matter, been a customer of the club.
No jealousy of those who can afford a season ticket, just a word of warning not to disrespect the PATG punters.
And of course the elephant in the room .... the Weirs' well known political persuasion, the SNP and Scottish independence. Not a problem to us... come on in, what ye drinking? You buying? triffic!! I'll have a pint, thanks. Make yersel at home, I'll grab ye a cushion and you put yer feet up. Put on yer jags scarf, relax and watch the game..... Sign the guest book.... ,muckin in and helping with the clear up is grand.... just not so sure if carving your name in the table is a good idea even if the current boss told you to do it (he's having a rerr terr on your tab and might be a bit pissed). We've a got a reputation to keep..... Here, have ye met ma pal, he's a disgruntled unionist, but he's been comin to Firhill for about 30 year, ....mon i'll introduce yeez....

Same happened to me in the JHS and I had renewed, looks like they were prepared and no fuss at all to get in.
Yes,i have renewed and mine wouldn't work either,as you say it looked like they knew about it and it wasn't a problem.

So, what's your solution to our No 2 goalie position then jaggy?
Trouble with Ryan is that he fails to Command his Goal Area, his positional sense is sadly lacking, his clearances aren't great,he invites opposition players on to him with his kick outs.He had all these deficiencies when he played with The Development Squad where he lost a couple of really silly goals with him loitering on the ball.He is good close in shot stopper but the more time he has to think about things the worse he is,honestly I think PaulGallacher would have been better these last few games. He has been given the chance to shine and he has been shown not to be up to the task which is unfortuneate for him and us.I thought that young Marc Webster is/was the better option but I believe he is off to pastures green.

Would expect Daid Wilson to play
Trouble with young David is that he gives the ball away far too often when playing in the development league, cannot afford to do it in this standard I'm afraid.

I have renewed my Season Ticket but was very disappointed that the price rose by £12.00 for less games, not the way to treat Season Ticket holders. The Club give out this "come and Support us",we need you then up the price for a lesser product.
