I think McDonald was transformational (oops that word) for us last season. So it's a high bar to be compared against. I personally wouldn't see Miller's impact as so significant. At least so far.
However judged against any normal standards he's been an excellent signing. If any other player without the big reputation came in and scored this many goals we'd be absolutely raving about them.
Absolutely, I think miller is now up to 7 in about 11 games roughly, correct me I’m wrong. That’s a pretty impressive start to the season can’t imagine many have scored 7 this season already in the championship bar the obvious offenders.

For me, it should be -
Fox - we'd have lost last Friday but for him - Caldwell was rightly criticised for chopping and changing, so Fox should retain his place, I think.
Kakay - did enough after a difficult start to suggest he's a stronger defensive option than Williamson and handy going forward too.
O'Ware and McGinty in central defence.
Penrice.
Bannigan and Palmer as holding midfielders.
Gordon in central midfield to make the most of his runs into the box.
Millar as chief striker and moany bugger.
Cardle on the left wing, where he's most effective. Zanatta on the right pretending to be Dennis McQuade...
5-0 Thistle.
Agree. Would go for this exact 11 bar maybe Cole instead of Palmer or Gordon.

At last, relief as Caldwell’s shown the door. Wonder who replaces him.

Really heart warming moment giving Erskine his good bye as well after he spoke well thought he looked emotional too. As for doolan I had a lump in my throat when he pounded the badge. A great day, credit to everyone involved and I’m sure he’ll back one day that’s for sure. Our number 9 always!

I’ve never once called for Caldwell’s head and have always been one to say I’ll give him the chance but I am now at the end of my patience , enough is enough Caldwell is clearly not up to it simple as that. I believe we genuinely have a very decent squad on our hands at this level and a better squad than most teams in this league. That to me means there’s only one place our problem lies and that’s with Caldwell clearly. Get him out absolutely ASAP and get someone else in. Any decent manager who can get us organised should have enough time to try and recover or salvage any slim chance of a play of bid Caldwell May have left us with.

I personally would love us to go and win it regardless, it would still be a good day out and a trophy to lift why wouldn’t anyone want that? Surely there would be some kind of financial gain from winning it, I can imagine it wouldn’t be much by any means but every little helps. The last final we reached against QOTS provided one of my favourite thistle goal memories ever when doolan equalised. Obviously it ended in misery but that’s not the point At this point I would be happy if we won this and made a play off spot at all, then of course hopefully progress in the play offs too. Think maybe the addition of the foreign teams or more so the colt teams is what has really taken the gloss off it for most folk.

I know it is a bit early for the player in question but if we are to look out for the next Doolan, Calum Graham Play's for Ashfield FC, signed this season and has scored 19 Goals this season he came from a church league but you have to look everywhere maybe worth keeping an eye on him.
19 already? In how many games?

Looking at those teams left I see absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t be making a good case to win this tournament. No teams in there that we can’t beat on our day whatsoever. Hope we get a lower league team at home then a foreign away day the round after and beat Clyde in the final! Should be easy enough

Great start that!

Would like to see us win this comfortably 2/3-0 ideally and help imbed the new guys a bit. I would also add to earlier comments on Kakays twitter he played and scored on his comeback game this week for a qpr team, so hoping he is near enough fit if not fully. Personally I would go with:
Fox
kakay(If fit) Hall Saunders Penrice
O’Ware Cole
Cardle De Vita Mansell/Robson
Jones
De Vita and Cole could swap to what best suits.
Give big Sean and Williamson a rest as they haven’t missed a minute I don’t think so far? Give Kenny a rest for obvious reasons and I also think it’s important Jones starts and gets a goal to get him off the mark as I think once he’s got his first he will go on to score a few. Get big Sena and Galasso a run out as well at the end if comfortable.

Dario Zanatta is cup-tied having played for Hearts Colts earlier in the competition.
That’s a real bummer long term if this is a competition we had any ambitions of winning.

Supposedly there is one more new signing allowed. What’s the priority?
RB cover
DM (Ball winner)
Number 10
Striker
For me I’m stuck between a real defensive midfield ball winner and an out and out striker as I feel we’re still lacking goals
Are you suggesting we are being allowed to make one more signing or talking theoretically if we had the choice? Either way I would say a DM would allow enough goals from midfield hopefully.
-
Have we bought him then? What kind of region of fee would thistle likely have paid as I’m sure he was still under contract at hearts? Fantastic signing either way. Shame we couldn’t have just beat morton on Friday isint it, would have been a real momentum and buzz about the place with back to back wins couple signings and a very winnable game on Saturday at firhill!
-
Love the big man, he gets it and you can tell it means a lot to him.
-
Even if we could gain just 1 good signing out of it who has a big impact on our season somehow I’d be happy with that. Could be another reason why yesterday’s win could be such a big turning point in our season, hopefully.

Pretty sure it’s well over £60,000 - board got to provide funds for minimum of one player now especially when Norman springford specifically said the board hoped they could provide more funds in via attendances or a cup run - no excuses now
So we should be able to get more signing then at least, hopefully.

How much do we get for reaching the quarter finals?
To be honest with you I’m not exactly sure but I’m sure it can only help. Someone on here will know I’d imagine just remember reading somewhere that this was important for us to win for that reason but can’t recall exactly where. Maybe I’m talking rubbish though.

Fantastic result! We really are unpredictable aren’t we. Let’s hope this kick starts our season from this point n maybe even fund another signing or 2. A truly massive result in terms of the financial side of it as well on top of the morale. Mon the jags!
-
How we could do with those 3 and whoever the 4th was, can’t imagine we will be getting them though somehow. Or anyone for that matter.

Money down there is absolutely obscene.

Loving the upbeat post.
I fear for the flow of the game with that clown in charge but finger crossed we turn up with the right attitude and get right in about them from the off. Not a minute to settle, get them on the back foot with some intensity.
Can't come quickly enough
Exactly that, hoping we get stuck right in, shake them up a bit and give the crowd something to get them pumped up. Pressing high and starting the game on the front foot is an absolute must for this one.

He's one of the only refs I can mind that had both sets of fans singing the referee's a w4ncher simultaneously.
Sure it was Thistle v Aberdeen.
A talent you could say.

Tell you something, after today’s events and whatever happens throughout the week off the pitch if we could go and beat united in front of a good crowd, in a tense game, with a good atmosphere under the floodlights it could really be one to remember. With Collum in charge it will most likely be a feisty match on and off the pitch with his countless useless decisions annoying everyone in the stadium. It would send out a real message and give a massive confidence boost to everyone if we go out and get right stuck into them and sneak a win. Couldn’t make Alloa so I’m absolutely buzzing for this one hope it’s as memorable as the last meeting with United at firhill. Mon the jags.

Bit of a pain this if I’m honest as it’s going to be happening more or less every time for a 21s game. Can’t help but feel in future we will have games far more important than Under 21 friendly’s against Luxembourg’s of the world where we can’t afford to lose 2 starters. Part of football though I guess , Cole and or de vita can step in although annoying considering how well cammy played on Saturday.
