  1. Stevenson if it came to I don’t think is ready for first team football but we’d have to be super unlucky to lose both hazard and sneddon in the remaining 15/16 games or so

I'd rather play Penrice there if Anderson is up to speed, moving McMillan to left back.

Fair shout. I think penrice is wasted at left back doesn’t have the  pace. Would have to shuffle the formation as slater or Spittal would be replacing Cardle in a more forward role and I doubt either would be effective as wingers.

As I posted yesterday, O'Ware won't likely be back till late March at the very earliest. Add on a couple weeks for outings in the reserves and he'll be lucky to be match fit much before the end of the season. Gordon I thought had a set back but as he hasn't been recalled to Motherwell you'd think he would still have a part to play*.

Of course "end of the season" hasn't taken into account the play offs. Incidentally I think there's a case to be made for saying we've missed Gordon as much as O'Ware. The team looks far more threatening when Slater and Banzo can get forward more often. Gordon looked the best equipped to play holding/defensive mid.

*eta it seems that Gordon is indeed not too far off a return.

Could McCarthy not be used to play the same role in allowing banzo and Slater to push further on?

Not sure about Mansell and Roy , who are really untested at this level and have no goal scoring record to speak of .

Yeh well even more ideally I would have already had my tested goal scorer in already in place of either of these 2 but that is obviously easier said than done. Although you never know ,well give them a chance before writing them both off just yet  of course.

I’ll agree with you, I’ll wait and see but the bulk of the first team are still the players who were already there and underachieved under Gary Caldwell, still think we’re short up front for another goalscorer .

Totally agree ,I would take one good striker over 3 players elsewhere before the window closes. Although can’t see why both Roy and Masrell would have been signed in the first place if Caldwell intended for another striker to come in.

  6. Fantastic  peice of business here on the surface anyway ,getting shot of someone who is a high earner ,doesn’t want to be here and most importantly is useless. In place a leader who can be trusted in confidence through his experience and importantly can actually score a goal or 2 as a centre half. Something we lack badly without O’ware.

  7. Only Bell and Keown to get rid of then and that’s all the wage stealers gone ,somehow don’t think bell will be leaving anytime soon as he supposedly wants to “stay and fight for a place” aka get money free for nothing for another whole year   Rated him but would also like to see us cut ties with Shea Gordon and use the loan elsewhere as he’s no use to us injured.

  8. I have to say I was one of those very against Spittal ,rated him nothing more than a fraud and a s****bag at some points out of rage but my god was I wrong he has well and truly went from 0 to hero in my books. Absolutely outstanding effort and final ball yesterday and for a good few weeks now ,a man transformed I think now that he has found consistency one of the best in the league and I mean that ,his track back and perfectly time slider to stop queens going through 1 on 1 summed him up for the last couple of months ,keep it up Blair outstanding.

McCarthy has been been struggling with injuries but Caldwell has played him

A shame I really thought he’d be a key factor in a promotion pushing season ,how wrong was I :loco: Equally though I wouldn’t loan him out as  if we can keep him fit he’s surely some kind of asset to us.

  10. Does Caldwell not rate Andy McCarthy whatsoever? Just me who thinks he is a good player at breaking up play as a defensive minded midfielder with a bit of energy about him too ,I know he’s had injuries but he’s hardly had a sniff this season and with some games under his belt I’d of really thought he would have been one of the better midfielders in not only our team but actually the whole division. Seems to be a the forgotten man. Equally I would have Gordon terminated ASAP to free up a space ,although a decent player it’s a waste of time seemingly at the moment (maybe he has went back already someone correct me if I’m wrong).

  11. More importantly than anything else said about Erskine no matter what your opinion on the matter is ,can anyone tell me this? Who are we gonna being in instead of Erskine who is better than he is and an upgrade on squiddy? Because I seriously struggle to come up with any kind of answer.

  12. I for One am in mixed opinions ,I am Infact very happy with Cardle ,Harkins and Saunders and think they’ll bring something to our squad but am like most left puzzled by the keeper situation. Although if Caldwell doesn’t rate the keepers we have and releases one of the 3 (Lennox I would imagine) I think it’s decent business as I personally don’t rate bell at all so if we cut one adrift it makes sense. As for the striker Roy I am puzzled off his track record but if he is a target man who provides a plan B I am happy with that and will wait till I see him play before I pass judgement upon his signing! Also have to say I am loving the way we’re going about it right from the start of the window rather than sitting around waiting all month like Archie often did ,even more so due to the fact it seems Falkirk have also came flying out the traps. Let’s hope this is where Alloa get sucked adrift to the bottom.

  13. I for one am happy about this signing I get the groans of ages of these players were being linked too but what people need too realise as we are in nothing more than a dog fight to stay in this league for this year ,experience and a bit of know how is exactly what we need to start grinding out results and keep ourselves in this league ,I think too we do need some youth and pace brought in also of course ,but welcome home Gary!

  14. Have to say I feel very sorry for Caldwell ,what a shower of spineless shite he has been left with ,the players can’t even do the basics and after watching thy I do now genuinely partake in believing we should aim to stay up this season and no more than that for this year.

  15. Sorry but I’m not on board with Spittal whatsoever if his performance levels stay the same as it is now then he should be gone at the end of the season ,I hope Caldwell can bring this so called “confidence” out if him but I for one think his current performance levels are quite simply not good enough to merit him staying at this club.

  16. Does anyone know for sure who exactly all the players on 6 months contracts are just out of curiosity wonder who out of them GC would keep or let go of but I personally can’t recall who exactly they where bar Brice. Best of luck to Gary ,very happy with this appointment.

  17. I for one would be very happy with Caldwell assuming it is him.  In my eyes he’s the perfect middle ground between not an old has been like Duffy ,McIntyre or Hughes but still knows the Scottish game and is still young and relatively fresh. On the other side isint as a completely un tested quantity that gemmil or any of the supposed “applicants from abroad”. He for me fits well in between both sides of  which most fans seem to be on one side or the other of. I would also like to think he might have some good contacts having been down south and played for Celtic etc. A massive massive failure or Archie’s was his lack of contacts.
