Random question, that came to me because I'm finally reading "Fever Pitch," having picked it up in a second-hand bookshop for 100 yen (around 60 p). Quite enjoying for the nostalgia, but not finding it as hilarious as the commentators apparently did when it got published. But it's amazing how I remember some of the goals and other incidents that he describes, though I  haven't seen them in around 50 years!

Newcastle get mentioned a few times, and for some reason the question arrived in my head:

Is Tommy Gibb the only ex-Thistle player to have won a winners medal in a European tournament?

Any others earned runners-up or 3rd place gongs?

Jeez! Ever heard of Alan Hansen!

    Not confused at all!!

    from Warriors website:

"Proof of vaccine certification: Following further clarification from the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Warriors do NOTrequire supporters to show proof of vaccine certification at upcoming home fixtures. This is because Scotstoun Stadium has a capacity of less than 10,000 and is fully seated."

    from our website:

"Until further notice, supporters attending matches at Firhill should be prepared to provide visual proof of vaccination, which includes a booster vaccine for those who had their last dose more four months ago, to gain entry to the stadium, unless exempt."

I think this may be because the official capacity at Firhill is still over 10,000, although obviously it won’t hit this tomorrow.

But none of those are mandatory, none of the people who decided against taking any of those were stigmatized to the scale we have now. I have never had an employer ask if I’m vaccinated against measles, mumps, TB etc, but now I have pub bouncers demanding to know if I’m vaccinated against COVID. This isn’t right.

We should be persuading folk to take a medical intervention not mandating it either in law or by stealth (no vaccinations no job), the NHS is apparently in crisis yet 100000 will lose their jobs next year for not taking a vaccination they haven’t needed working for 2 years in this crisis, but don’t worry we clapped for them every Thursday night.

Its crossing the Rubicon by mandating this, where does it end (and I won’t go into details of the carbon currency launched by China on the back of the vaccination passport that decides where you can spend your money depending on how good a citizen you are), do we state you have to show proof of a flu-jab to enter shops next winter? Does having HIV put your pass RED to prevent you going into a club? Maybe they will mandate a 1 child policy for the poor with a sterilization passport that allows you to work, buy non-essential goods?  Far-fetched?? Look to what China has already done in last 2 years (lockdowns, travel bans, mandated vaccinations, digital vaccination passports, carbon currency linked to your data, and more), and see how Europe is following.

I am far from being Anti-Vaxx I’ve probably had more vaccinations or inoculations than most folk on here due to travel and specifically with my previous job in Middle East/Asia but those were either my choice or my parents to take.

At no point did I demand, or even ask, that it be be made mandatory for anyone to be vaccinated against anything. That would be entirely their own choice, but their arguments against vaccination should be exposed to full scrutiny and exposure, and frankly would struggle to hold water.

  4. I was going to quote from one or more quotes on this thread but there are just too many now, many from people who clearly have  little or no scientific knowledge of the subject about which they speak. My reply is have you heard of the diseases tetanus, rubella, measles, whooping cough, mumps and diphtheria amongst others!!!!!!!!!!  No, well  f****** educate yourselves, because I’m betting neither you nor anybody you know, or are related to, have suffered from any of them within the last (roughly) 50 years. And don’t start about flu and it’s endless variations because the vaccination for that also saves countless lives here and throughout the world, and it constant mutations are why you get jabs every year,  just in case you didn’t understand.

It’s not a dislike it’s sheer hatred - your on here every day going on and on about McCall.  Even on topics not even related to him your being it round to McCall

you scroll about pie and bovril doing the same thing moaning on and on about him.  Even going on Ayr United threads begging them to take him back.

it’s almost as though you revel in our defeats so you get another chance to go on and on about McCall

honestly no idea if you go out of your way to be so torn faced or if it just comes naturally

You’re in big trouble now! He really doesn’t like people expressing an opinion about his opinions!

I take it you were at the game today Barney and the last two goalless games at Firhill

When teams sit in against us we run out of ideas , Rudden and Graham didn’t kick a ball today and indeed were both taken off .

Absolutely no  goalscoring threat from midfield, there has got to be a different system to break down teams at Firhill .

Stevie Lawless would give us a different option with his creativity and his goalscoring threat .

On you’re first point, no he wasn’t!

Docherty, OK, Graham, meh! Bannigan, meh!

This ‘meh’ comment about Bannigan extending his contract is proof that you have little idea of what you are talking about when it comes to football. This is one of the most important signings  we could have made.  I know everyone is entitled to an opinion and I am always reluctant to get sucked into these discussions online but I have to make an exception in this case because you are talking out your a**e.

  8. If we’d been really smart and realised we had 28 days to vote (maybe we did) we ‘d have told Doncaster we’d think about it for 26 more days and then vote no. It would have been priceless to see him squirm and possibly getting his P45 for gross incompetence for not foreseeing that possibility.

Can't happen here (as Ronnie James Dio sang in 1981).

The current Championship table shows that some teams (including Thistle) have played less games than others. A solution is required that is equitable to - and presumably agreed by - all member clubs. Nobody will agree to be relegated on the basis of having played a game less, particularly when playing and winning that game might take them out of the relegation places.

FFS Barney, Joe Lynn Turner sang this - at least two singers on from Ronnie James Dio in Blackmore’s revolving door musical employment agency,

I'll see Moon and Entwistle with The Who again before you see those two play for the Jags.

Barney, better get "Resurrection Shuffle" on your music playing device of choice and contact a reliable voodoo priest/ess.
