Personally I think Kris Doolan will make a fantastic CEO when he is announced on Friday.

Hopefully it won’t interfere with his other responsibilities like running the team and working the pie stall at halftime.

Talking of Pie Stalls I understand Pie Sports have revamped all their stalls and are now looking the dog ‘s whatnots !.

  2. Gerry had to walk a difficult line during the Low era as an employee of the Club ,however he helped drive us through a very difficult during covid, lockdown, relegation and the fallout of the Low era.He was also a great player for us and would hope he is afforded the respect and a friendly welcome he deserves at Firhill on any return .

  3. Dools mentioned in his interview about “protecting assets” which ,IMHO, points to signings (yeah ,I know we’ve lost some pretty hefty assets post season but that’s the financial and league reality of Thistle right now ).

That’s not to say we don’t need loanees, which we most certainly do, but shows he has one eye on building for the future around a solid ,contracted team .

Next couple of weeks will be interesting for sure .

The condition of the stadium was discussed at TJF's AGM on Thursday. Everyone knows the stadium needs plenty of work, the new board have identified what needs to be done to keep us in position to get the safety certificate we require but the rest is going to be a long term project. Basically we can keep the car passing its MOT and on the road but the tinted windows will have to wait.

What about the Fuzzy Dice ? .

I have nothing but 100% respect for those volunteers, and would even consider joining the ranks if I could. They do work which most people are probably unaware of but which helps attendees' overall matchday experience. But I'm afraid the main stand now looks like it needs rather more than tidying up/painting/fixing. Brickwork, ledges and harling (or whatever its accurate term) are now actually rotting and crumbling away.

There was talk of an Old Stand refurb, however, not sure if this was contingent on promotion and ensuing funds being made available.

"State" as in condition, not as in nation (though a Republic of Firhill might be nice!).

The new board has a lot to do to get us out of the mess we are currently in, in terms of financial losses, and supporting the manager for mounting another great promotion challenge (hopefully successful, this time). These issues can rightly be seen as being priorities, but I hope the board is also duly concerned about the rapidly deteriorating state of the stadium, in particular the main stand. Look at the picture of the flaking, crumbling and water ingress-stained facade, which has clearly been totally neglected for some considerable time. I'm not sure when the picture was taken, but I think I've seen a more recent one that is even worse, with weeds and other vegetation (saplings?) now growing in cracks in the wall. Frankly, this does not give a good impression about the club to anybody, and if I were a potential sponsor I think I might have second thoughts about putting money or equipment into an organization that appears to show such little regard about the appearance of its headquarters and place of business. That is unless I was in the building/repairs trade (!), in which case my sponsorship might be in the form of damage limitation to prevent the problem becoming critical.

Is the 3/- entry price still visible above the city terracing- bing-end turnstiles?

There’s a small but dedicated  band of non match day volunteers who have been doing a lot of tidying up /painting /fixing in and around the ground including the old Main stand facade .Old pricing still visible above recently painted Bing turnstiles .It’s an understatement to say the old Stand needs attention, hopefully with the new sense of purpose associated with the club things may changing for the better .

I like your thinking, but I think that over 3,000 season ticket holders is pie in the sky, although it would of course be brilliant. The "voluntary basis" idea sounds a lot like the "STJ 100"  campaign (I don't remember the exact name) from back when we were in truly dire straits. My brother and I are on the list exhibited in the Aitken Suite.

Are we near that point again?

Pretty sure we broke the 3,000 mark this season and with the exciting ,albeit, ultimately heartbreaking end to this season I would imagine perhaps a 10% increase in ST numbers.

Not sure we are at the stage of STJ100 yet but nothing should be left off the table at this stage in order to steer us through the hellish mess left by the former board .

The obvious solutions (glib as that might be) are to increase regular sources of income - season ticket sales, match day attendance, TJF donations to the club via paid membership subs- and reduce the playing budget.

It's not a nice place to be, but if we care about the club, and we're financially in a position to do so, then we can all play a small part. The alternative is to have no club to support.

I can see it being a difficult few years, although I am more encouraged by the involvement of some people now to help manage us through this than in previous times.

Given our season ticket numbers should be in excess of 3,OOO this year an increase of 100 per skull would wipe out the debt .A bit naive I know given cost of living situation for most folks ,however, done on a voluntary basis would go a long way to ease our current pain . I’d certainly willing to step up .

  9. I guess that’s as close as any team will get to being promoted and relegated in the space of one game as you will ever likely to see.VAR aside to lose a three goal advantage in the last 20 minutes is not acceptable and some real hard headed analysis and solutions  needed.

For me a wholesale rebuild of central defence and midfield is needed and pivotal to any meaningful attempt on an evermore competitive Championship this coming season .With our coffers apparently bare really not sure if this is even possible, however,I have trust in Doolan to get the best out of any player under his cool headed leadership.

Interesting and worrying times ahead for sure .

  10. Ross probably on paper favourites due to Premier league status and experience. However, momentum surely with us going by recent free scoring results and feel good factor under Dools. Ross  also have injury issues and another energy sapping journey South in under a week ahead of them which won’t help.We really need to get the win and a clean sheet tomorrow but have to be tighter in midfield and central defence .
