I would prefer Kilmarnock to allow for a massive Jags support to attend on the Sunday 2nd leg.

On balance yes, however counter argument for Ross is multiple life sapping journeys North and South in under week for them .

IF we get to final play offs I would prefer Kilmarnock over Ross County.  County have Simon Murray and Eamon Brophy up front.

Ross and Killie play each other in a potentially ugly ,blood and snotters do or die tie at Rugby Park on the Sunday before first playoff. If we beat Ayr we’ll have an extra 2 days to recover.

  3. Another entertaining Friday night under the floodlights in Wonderful Maryhill….ye just cannae beat it .

Splendid team performance and team spirit all underpinned by our great support.Tie not over but would take a massive slide in form to lose this now .

That's the biggest unknown for me. Will Ayr be fresher from the lay off or will they be slightly losing match fitness/sharpness? Will we be carrying knocks, strains other niggles into this game? Unlike previous seasons we've had a week between play off game 2 and game 3 to recover. So I'm very hopeful Ayr won't be advantaged and possibly we'll be better off for having been playing.

I don't know if it's that significant but, with the exception of the ICT match, no opposition has scored first in any game since the change of manager.

The momentum has to be with us.There also was a 90 minute plus two way feel good factor between fans to players last Friday ,something I have not seen in a wee while. If we can feed off that again tomorrow then hopefully we’ll prevail .I also think it is one of these games where whoever scores first will be in a strong position so your comment about teams not scoring against us first has merit.

  5. If we can nullify the threat of Akinyemi in same we did with Thomas last night we are in with a very good chance of progressing. With Banzo potentially back I’m feeling mildly confident .

Full pass marks last night for all but slightly worried about all the corners we gave away in second half(ok I know we were home and hosed by that stage),need to tighten up a bit here .

Defence looks much better with Holt in the middle. Fitz looked good, so could he perhaps start on the right wing and Lawless at left back allowing Holt to move to the centre. Only issue is that Stevie would be up against Thomas (11) who is the danger man.

Would be more inclined to put Hodson at left back and Holt in mid defence dropping  Brownlie and leaving McMillan and Muirhead as is.Wee Stevie best on right and up front and causing havoc as we undoubtedly need more creativity and goals .

Scratching my head why QP could only muster 340 fans. Wasn't Firhill their home ground for a while. Isn't Glasgow there home toon. Isn't Ochilview further from there traditional base. Even at Hampden there support is usually 500+ Must really be the telly coverage. Its the only thing I can really think would keep them away.

There was a very good “Beards through the ages”documentary last night on BBC 4……that might explain it .

  8. Really enjoyed that despite our glaring defensive frailties. Not really sure how Dools can sort this out before Friday given our very limited defensive options….the reality is he can’t so expecting a very frantic goal fest again and penalties.

The loss of some prize money is bad news, but I fancy our chances in the play offs if Doolan can sort out the hibernation that seems to infect the team after we take early leads.  Tiffoney's crucial equaliser might just act as a wake up call.

Whatever happens in the play offs, Doolan seems very intelligent and I'm sure will learn much from the experience, which bodes well for next season.

Doolan however is untested in recruiting players, and perhaps appointing an assistant on a short term basis to help with this might be useful. Beyond that, the allegedly non-existent scouting system needs attention.

Perhaps a certain IM brought back on a consultancy basis or otherwise to fill the scouting role could be one possible solution ? .His contacts and having an eye for a good player might be a good assist to Dools’ on field organisation and work ethic.

  10. Not sure how we managed to not get all three points in a game that should have been wrapped up before Accies scored ,even after that we should have Floored them .

Thought Ref was absolutely honking ….seemed to take ages writing up his wee book effectively taking the edge and flow out the game and handing out some bizarre yellows …still can’t work out how Turner got carded after being hacked down by an Accies side intent on spoiling the game through cynical tackling.

  11. Have to feel for the noisy fans who made that long journey North to watch what looked liked a very nervy Thistle side .A lot of food for though for Dools in the run in….not over yet for playoffs but need to improve on final touch .

Fair play to ICT for digging it but we should have won this given the red card freebie .
