Imrie came to mind for me - he has done a brilliant job with a dross squad. Suspect the compensation would be too much though.
On the Morton theme, when Holt got injured, Efe Ambrose should have been a short term fix for us and he is now there.
Yeah,Imrie would be a good shout.Gets the best out of players and instills a never say die mentality in team picked up from his Premier league survivor days at Accies ….would also ram it right up Morton for good measure and would fit our budget I suspect .

Dundee United was 7 games. Don’t know what went wrong there. Hibs was 96 games, including 2 cup finals, and his record at Sunderland and St.Mirren was not too shabby.
Last season with Hibs was seven defeats in 9 league games before being binned with style of play accused of being “dull and boring “. Agreed he did have some cup success and top three position for Hibs in first season …but could we afford him ?
-
Jack Ross….last 2 teams managed lasted only seven games and got binned….even if he pulled the wool could we afford him ?

I’ll give you one name who is available. Jack Ross would certainly do better than McCall. Would he apply ? Who knows. Would there be better, probably.
Over to you. Who would do worse ?
Not interested in worse and who would be ?……..could we realistically afford Jack Ross ? .

Turn it around. Any realistic names who could do worse ? (5 straight defeats 18 goals conceded)
Turn it round all you like, still waiting on one realistic name who can come in and turn the corner for us given our budget …go one take a stab .

Given the manager has twice convinced the Board to overspend I am sure they could find the money. It may reduce the new manager's resources in January but I believe a better manager would get more for the current squad so the need to spend in January would be less.
With regards to specific names I could give you a few who I think would be worth speaking to but I don't know every potential option out there but when a job becomes available there is never a shortage of applicants.
Am pretty sure there are/will be plenty of applicants, however, when you introduce word “realistic “ is there anything better out there given our tight budget ?.Not saying we should sit on our plums and hope for the best but not sure there are better options out there right now….would gladly be proven wrong .

Accounts say we are not struggling financially. If the are genuine then the money should not be a problem. I think there will be plenty who would apply. There are for most manager jobs.
“Plenty who would apply “ ..any realistic names who would whet our appetite given our stellar accounts ?
-
Ok ,let’s say McCall and his team go ….where do we get the money to pay them off and who do we realistically replace to them with who is out there and available ?
-
If big Brians back in team today we might sneak it as we have been missing his on field leadership ,mettle and general GIRRY ability to noise up defences . 2-1 Jags .

Dundee aren't in great shape either, so we may have a chance.
A certain D Ross will be running the line.
Right wing perchance ?

We’re obviously now in free fall, the backbone of our team out injured and replacements hopelessly out of their depth .Holt out for up to 8 weeks ,not sure about the rest ,however, can we afford to keep going at this rate without radical change if we are to have serious title thoughts and currently 2 points off the top ?.
4 point off the top now .

Hey,look on the bright side…ahead on corners again !.

If we display the same attitude and application seen during first half against Ayr(Brownlie’s unfortanate header aside) we should eke out a point or three hopefully .Praying Lawless passes fit .

Win ugly today please and get back to where we belong in this crazy league .

Really quite despondent about our situation - actually glad i'm going to Murrayfield on saturday!
I understand your pain, however, egg chucking is one step beyond .

I think we are now in Dugmeat territory already .Three key injuries and were on our arse showing how weak and shallow our team is even against a bang average Ayr .

Interesting to see that this time you’re not calling it “must win”. What has changed from last time ?
Oops sorry, forgot to add “ Must win/draw “ in terms of restoring team spirit and title challenge.

After back to back maulings and key player injuries Tuesday night will be a measure of our mettle ,team spirit and ability turn things around .Would settle of a point, however, we know we are capable of three with a bit of self belief.

This cups never been the same since 71 anyway …moving on now to another must win on Sat .
Hope big Holt is ok as he’s such an important yet often unsung ,as he does what he does look so easy, hero for us .
-
Just goes to show how important Saturday’s result against Accies was for us in this crazy league .

I guess the smart money will be on the Sheep Worriers ,that being said we should go out ,enjoy the game and all the delights a dreich night in Aberdeen can offer ….and get tore right in about them .
