Lawless and Turner were terrific, Graham dreadful. I’m fed up with his moaning.

Arbroath had some good deliveries from set pieces which Brownlie dealt with admirably. He’s obviously been told to shift it quickly!

Couldn’t agree more re Graham. If he concentrated more on playing the ball rather than outmuscling his opponent he’d be twice the player he is.

      GET INTERIM

    ● Interim manager Kris Doolan takes charge of Partick Thistle for the first time, nearly 4 years on from his final appearance as a player - both times versus Ayr United.
Kris Doolan becomes the 33rd individual to manage a Partick Thistle first team match.
    ● Former Jag Sean McGinty captains Ayr United whilst former United man Ross Docherty captains Thistle.
Kyle Turner hits a new personal best by appearing 17-not-out in competitive action.
    ● Thistle have won all three matches in which Danny Mullen has scored.
    ● Thistle win their first away game in more than 4 months, the 2-1 win at New Douglas Park in October being the last away day success.
Thistle keep their first clean-sheet in 3 months. Ayr United are only the second team not to have scored against Thistle in the League this season, following on from Arbroath.
    ● Congratulations (and celebrations) to Kris Doolan, who becomes the first Thistle manager since Murdo MacLeod in 1995 to begin his tenure with a victory in competitive action.

    ongoing sequences:
    ● 34 consecutive competitive appearances for Jack McMillan, 9th Jul 2022 to date, a new personal best. (Longest run since: Jamie Sneddon - 41 games, 28th Aug 2021 to 9th Jul 2022. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)

Indeed…who knows what chairman Low left behind..

I think we have only 7 under contract for next season just now so getting some more signed up is as much a priority as a couple of new signings

Playing devil’s advocate here but the problem with the above is that if we somehow manage promotion not too many of our squad are good enough for the Premiership. I think the general impression on here is that the squad is a bit light at present so we’d need a good few better quality recruits if we were to have any hope of survival. Equally if we don’t manage promotion we’d still want to improve the squad ahead of another attempt next season which would be difficult to do if we extend the contracts of the current lot. If I were the manager I’d want to see how things were panning out nearer the end of the season before offering extensions.

  4. First 17 games: 29 goals for,  16 against. 1.65 points per game

Last 17 games: 15 goals for,  21 against. 1.24 points per game

That doesn’t tell the full story as performances as well as results have got worse as the season has gone on. If by some miracle we qualify for the play offs and gain promotion there are very few of our current squad who could cut it in the Premiership. Unfortunately I don’t think McCall could either. I doubt very much if we’ll need to worry about that though.

To make matters worse I was one number away from the winning number in the half time draw. Time for a drink!
