  1. I’m reliably informed that Tiffoney is reluctant to play on that pitch but is happy to play away games. If he does play against
the Pars and then Killie it’ll be interesting to see if he appears in the next home game!

You're right.  I thought QP were playing on Tuesday, but they're not.  If we get 10 days of dry weather before we play Morton, we might get away with it for a few weeks more, but, unless we get lucky with the weather in the next 4 weeks, I suspect questions will be asked of us.

According to the BBC website it’s to rain every day for the next fortnight. Having said that if their weather forecasts are as accurate as their football coverage we should be fine!

Sorry for the delay in getting back on this one.  I've been busy elsewhere. I suspect that we are talking on cross purposes here. Rule 14 ( below) is from the SFA Cup Rules. This sets out players eligible to play in a match, and does say a nominated substitute keeper must be on the team sheet.  To answer Dick Dastardly,  it could be an outfield player, but he can only be substituted for the playing goalkeeper, as a keeper.   Rather than do that, bring back Kenny Arthur!!

If a game is in play, and no substitute keeper can come on if all substitutes have been played or both the original and sub keeper have come off, an outfield player can indeed be nominated as goalkeeper.  Oldco had to do this in a game at Parkhead when Roberts went in goal. If I've misinterpreted, happy to hold up my hand.

I stand corrected. Do you know if the same applies to league fixtures?

Yes, GRE, we must. Rule 14 does state that a substitute (registered) goalkeeper needs to be named on the team sheet.

Could be wrong (first time for everything) but don’t think that’s correct. Law I found states:

    Changing the goalkeeper

Any of the players may change places with the goalkeeper if:

    • the referee is informed before the change is made
    • the change is made during a stoppage in play

Think anybody can play in goal as long as the Ref is informed who is designated for that position.

  5. SFA site states the following: “Denying the opposing team or an opponent a goal or an obvious goal scoring opportunity leads to an automatic one match suspension, effective immediately to the next match in the Competition in which the sending-off offence was reported. “
If I’m correct and the above was the reason for the sending off then it looks like he’ll miss the next round of the cup. Having said that we should definitely appeal it as it didn’t look like a sending off offence to me.

  6. The recent run of clean sheets has been great but we’ve been really poor at the other end. We’ve only managed to score in 4 of the last 9 games and apart from the Ayr game haven’t looked likely to score either. We seldom create more than  2 or 3 decent chances in a game so desperately need some attacking options other than the usual hopeful punt up to Graham or Rudden.  Tiffoney is the only player we have who is capable of creating something but is too easily snuffed out when they put two men on him. I’d like to see a creative midfielder and another striker come in in January but not holding my breath.

  7. Purchased the stream to watch on the tv but got as far as a white box with the 2 club logos and a play button which greyed out every time the cursor  entered the box. Tried on my ipad but kept buffering and then going to audio only. Eventually got it on a laptop. Any IT experts explain why I couldn’t get in to the stream on the tv? Wasn’t too happy with the hassle but very happy with the result!

  8. How we got a point out of that I’ll never know! That could easily have been a 5 or 6 goal defeat. We were woeful throughout with the same  old punt up the park to Graham & Rudden who won little or nothing all day. Midfield totally devoid of ideas with Tiffoney & Smith marked out of the game and when they did get free the quality of their crosses was abysmal. We couldn’t  string 2 passes together & didn’t have a single shot at goal in the second half. We need a creative midfielder & more options up front come the January window.

Does anyone know if we can see highlights from the BBC broadcast? I can't find on YouTube or iPlayer. I've seen the jagzone highlights but would be good to see the goals from the other side.

If you go on to iPlayer, Channels, Scotland, Schedule, Friday 15th you can watch the whole game there. Enjoy!

    2 really good goals.

The pass from I think Bell for Foster, Foster's first touch and cross were excellent. Rudden doing a prope poachers job.

Second goal is just a good. Interplay between Rudden and Graham was nice and the finsih by Rudden is top class.

Tiffoney is again looking really good. Its been a while since I've seen such an electric player play in a Thistle top.

Montrose look poor. Their fullbacks are struggling with Toffoney and Williamson and their midfield is getting overrun.

I think we have to make some subs and rest some folk assuming the score is 2-0 or better after 60 minutes. I'd take off Tiffoney, Graham, Bell, Banngian and Foster. Put on Lyons, MacIver, Sena, Reilly and McKenna

Don’t see the need to make wholesale changes in the second half as we don’t play again until Tuesday so plenty of time for players to rest. Maybe replace Tiffoney & Rudden in case of injuries.
