  1. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/club-statement-on-way-forward-with-ptfc-trust/

'It is for the PTFC Trust as an independent entity to articulate its preferred way of operating and in partnership with the Club Board to agree on the operating model that works best for the Club and Jags fans.

To be clear, that could include any number of options which are common in fan-owned clubs including having representatives from the Trust on the Club Board'.

I spent 30 years in Sourcing & would never have awarded a potential supplier any type of contract without clarity on 'its preferred way of operating'. This statement really beggars belief.

An agent would be involved with the club in a professional capacity. They would also have relations with some board members and the CEO you would assume.

So can I conclude that TBC/BoD shared their intention in relation to the share transfer with the Ark Sports agency but kept TJF, & fans generally, in the dark? Sure looks like it.

I know two of them and both are long standing Jags fans. I don't know where the connection with the board was made. Probably through social media. I look forward to hear their reasoning to support this movement. They aren't folk in need of a free lunch so I don't see it as for personal gain.

Would you know if these 2 individuals, or their businesses, have any commercial relationship with JL's company?

Maybe so and I hope your point doesn't come true.

    Again though, and I won't pretend to know all of the details but I feel the following is happening;

    • 3BC have rejected TJF
    • 3BC have yet to announce the alternative
    • TJF and some others on this forum, are crying foul as TJF were seen as some kind of shoe in
    • In reaction to this, we're attempting to punish the Club by withholding 'money' and cancelling payments that are needed by the Club

Many of those that follow the above sentiment will never rejoin the schemes they've cancelled and some might not visit Firhill again, if they stop now

I may stand corrected when I hear / understand what 3BC have decided to do, but for now, I feel more hostile towards those that are leading this 'blind' charge and potentially damaging the Club

If, and I'm being careful with my use of the word 'IF', TJF are in any way supporting these damaging actions, they will in no way get my support, ever.

I would in no way want to be represented by a fans group that chose to damage the Club they represent, should they not get their own way.

If anyone saw TJF as a 'shoe-in', & this was clearly not the case if you followed developments over the last couple of months, it was simply because no other fan group has engaged with the support. I appreciate & understand that a large number of fans believe fan ownership is secondary to a successful team on the pitch. That is a challenge for TJF.

The decision taken by TBC may prove to be the right one for the club in the long term, but the way you do things is important. I believe that TBC failed that test.

The more pertinent question would be season ticket holders that qualify for The PTFC trust (2 years continuous prior to this season’s) who are also Foundation members

I took 'established' to mean exactly that

  6. A 71st minute walkout had crossed my mind (although this could be misinterpreted if the opposition goes 3-0 up in the 70th minute)

I would hate to do anything that negatively affects the team but the live game against Inverness does provide an opportunity to maximise publicity. I'm sure BBC Scotland would happily report any action - boycott, walkout.

    Two words of caution:

    1.  We need to ensure we have significant backing from the season ticket holders who are not members of TJF.

    2. Personally I would be reluctant to take any action until there is more information on the successful recipient of the shares

I believe he had a very good game yesterday and he was certainly excellent at Rugby Pk. Also had showed up well in the friendlies at Alloa & Kelty, where both games were played with a good bit of intensity. He's got a good turn of pace, can beat a man and put in decent crosses. Also looks fine defensively.

All that's lacking is probably the transition to full time fitness,  stamina wise. Would suggest what looks like disinterest is more down to pacing himself thru 90 mins. We'll soon find out.

I was at dens yesterday. Quite honestly mcmullen roasted him umpteen times. Whether that was down to stamina or simply struggling against a higher quality of player only time will tell.

Did think McMillan looked reasonable first time round, and If a Livingston reject proves to be anything near as effective as Tiffoney then I'll be chuffed.

Other side of the coin, hopefully I'm wrong, but a full back that can play centreback is unlikely to also be an attack minded fullback/wingback. So where does that leave Milne? Are we -planning to attack down the left side and defend down the right? McCall's got previous with that sort of imbalance and I'm not meaning last season's folly when we played without a wide right midfielder.

Good tho' he was, Tiffoney was hampered last season by the opposition easily doubling up on him as we had no real threat from the other flank. Unless McCall is planning to play Milne as a wide right midfielder, which I really doubt, to play a balanced side it looks like we're still going to need an attacking midfielder playing wide right AND an attacking fullback. So please tell me McMillan will do the biz going forward as our other right back, Muirhead certainly can't. Christie Elliott can but even if we were to sign him, I doubt he's what you'd call a first team starter.

Understand your reservations & both his & Muirhead's signing are slightly underwhelming. I'll therefore try & put a positive spin on this. His loan spell suggests he will be an upgrade on Foster & McKenna.

Possibly opening a can of worms here, but were voters notified about the candidate who withdrew so they would not vote for that candidate?  Or that those who did vote for him could change their vote?

Or was it stated going in that if a candidate withdraws, any votes for that candidate would just be discarded?

Seems like simply discarding had potential to change the results, given the count.

8 of the 9 candidates who received my vote were elected. John was the one who missed out & I was unaware that he had withdrawn until today, although I may have missed the communication to this effect. Whilst unfortunate I see no reason to get bent out of shape as I don't think this dramatically affected the outcome. Congrats to the 'Firhill 9' who can rely on my full support. Sincerely hope all the fan base follows suit & that this support is as visible as possible.

This news means Broadfoot can go to shell…

I don’t think we should take loan signings. All we do is develop someone else’s player. Let’s make better use of the players who employed by Thistle, in the Academy etc.

Every team in the championship takes  3-4 players on loan (as do the majority in the prem). It reflects the clubs' finances &, if we didn't, we would be severely disadvantaged. That's the sad fact.

Crawford for me has to go.3  Wins from 15 Starts.

From games he didn't start, 3 Wins in 5.

Not solely blaming Crawford but he just doesn't fit into our team.

I haven't been a fan of Crawford but both he & Turner played in a midfield 3 yesterday & imo both had their best games for weeks. Amazing how a decent surface improves some players.

Sorry to say but Banzo appears to have seriously regressed

  12. Disappointed we got nothing from tonight's game but not too disappointed that we'll miss out on promotion. I actually quite enjoyed the game so it was worth the journey. Two positives for me. Thought Tunji was more like his old self & Turner was excellent in a more central role. Funny that.

Interesting I’d keep, Hendrie and take Mayo back on Loan. That’s it for me. Hendrie has got better with consistent game time in my opinion ! We really need a right back this summer.

    Tumelty from RR

Best rb in the division by some distance.

  14. If McCall is willing to let Sena leave I have to assume he has at least 1 midfielder lined up. We simply cannot continue with 3 from Turner, Crawford, Docherty & Bannigan irrespective of the formation.

  15. He may have had an indifferent season but his performances have been no worse, & probably superior, to the loanees who arrived in January. There may be more to it but I think he's been treated appallingly but the management team recently. There, got it off my chest. Feel better now.

Good news indeed. This won't come cheap!

Personally I remain unconvinced that the root cause was the ground sharing arrangement & nothing else &, having sat through months of some pretty unbearable 'entertainment', I think the fans deserve significantly more detail, especially if the cost restricts the player budget.

There's a Jags Foundation update e mail on the go.

Slightly underwhelming but let's hope that the commitment for biweekly updates is kept. At least there is some communication which is more than can be said for JL & her cronies. The silence is deafening. Just not good enough given her commitment to regularly communicate around 18 months ago &, let's face it, there's plenty out outstanding issues - pitch, stadium infrastructure, club finances, etc

I sense there's a bit of a chicken & egg scenario. Fans reluctant to sign up until there's strong evidence that the club is financially sound & the board is fully behind the fan ownership concept. Current BoD unwilling to fully engage until there's evidence that the fans a re prepared to commit to fan ownership via TJF.

In my mind one of our major deficiencies has been constantly playing an imbalanced side and related to that, a lack of width. Our over reliance on Tiffoney causes the imbalance as there's nobody to mirror him on the other flank. In saying that I'm assuming McAlister is proving no improvement on Hastie. Having to play Smith, Crawford or Turner out of position usually results in an insipid performance with little happening down the non-Tiffoney wing. That and having no overlapping attacking fullbacks emphasises that lack of width. Wasn't paying too much attention but yesterday it looked like Hendrie was the latest recruit to the wide midfield.

Above is obviously a negative but in a way it can be turned more positively, in so much as we've maybe done better than we should with makeshift formations. Playing an orthodox back four with two advanced forwards, which we've done on numerous occasions, effectively requires wide midfielders and attacking full backs. Yet we've had many a decent result regardless. Much of that can be put down to a splendid attitude throughout the squad. McCall has to take credit for instilling that thru his man-management and his signings of players with good attitude. The other side of the coin I feel is that we're well into the last quarter of the season and we're still kinda experimenting with both formation and personnel. Some of that I admit could be argued from a "horses for courses" point of view but mostly I believe down to not having an overall game plan with regards to formations and recruitment..

I think we'll make the play offs and accept that was arguably our target this season. If we get there we'll probably fall short of winning thru. If we did gain promotion I reckon it would be largely down to that excellent attitude throughout the squad. Sadly, to sustain a top tier position I imagine much of the squad wouldn't be around to enjoy the fruits of their labours.

Just to develop the lack of width theme. What most bemuses me is that, whilst the success of McCall's Ayr team a few seasons back was mainly credited to Shankland, my own view is that he benefitted from 2 very good attacking full backs (Smith & Harvie). I'm not saying Williamson & Penrice were at a similar level but I don't think we have adequately replaced them.

I don't enjoy highlighting players' deficiencies but I've never understood some posters' 'love in' with Foster. Can't fault his commitment but the number of mistakes he now makes is a real concern. Yesterday was not his finest 90 minutes.

Of course if Graham had just put the ball in the back of the net direct from the spot or even rebound there would be no controversy about what happened in the stramash. I do realise that players do miss penalties and that Graham has been a very good signing for us, but i think we need to give somebody else a chance to score from the spot.

Wholeheartedly agree with this. Quite honestly I'm never confident that Graham will score as his technique is flawed. 1. He always sacrifices accuracy for power. 2. His runup is practically straight. Therefore it's very unlikely that the ball will go to the GK's left (so goalie doesn't need to think too hard) & almost certain that the ball will be at a nice height to save. My nominee would be Turner but, for some reason, he's rarely on the pitch these days.

Sour grapes I know but Jagzone highlights shows a Morton player a yard inside the penalty box before Graham strikes the ball.

Remember that Queens Park have had postponements as well. And as they play at Firhill.......

I'm pretty sure the QP games have contributed to the current issues, or at least haven't helped, but I think it's too simplistic to pin all the blame on this. I checked Jagzone & the pitch only started to show significant deterioration in December. Additionally the Killermont rain guage data (if I interpreted it correctly) confirmed more rain fell between August & October than November to January. So I can only conclude that the pitch is currently less able to cope with the Scottish weather in comparison with previous seasons & I would expect the club to be looking into this & to share their findings with supporters.

Personally I'm more disappointed by the club's lack of transparency on why the deal with QP was made. I suspect it was driven by the need to reduce the £350k shortfall with the other Championship clubs but it would have been nice to have this confirmed
