A lot of folk have said that Hutton was classy and played well for us, and Balatoni re-found his earlier form towards the end of his spell with us. So, "successful" loans.
Or were they? The fact is still that we went out of both diddy cups early on, and had nothing other than a very mediocre league record with them at the heart of the team. It's not as if these players turned us into a good team. And then last night in come another two, who don't even know our players. Result: another defeat. And if we lose the next game, you can be sure that the two new H*n arrivals will still be in the team again.
The point of this rant? It's really just that all these loans that are flying around don't actually seem to make much difference to anything. I really get the impression that we are helping out those players' teams more than they are actually helping us achieve anything. And the notion of building for a challenge next season etc. is nonsense, as these guys will be offski.
The only loan player I can remember who made any real impact for us was Santala. If only we had somebody like him now!
