Its a pretty nice city, get the funny lookng cable car train thingy up the steep hill hill on the banks of the Danube (across whatever that famous bridge built with Sheffield steel is called) for decent views, there is some big old palace/building up there with museumy type stuff inside but we didn't go in.

Remember your swimmers for the spa baths you're bound to visit.

If buying drinks for dancing ladies in 'clubs' be very aware of how much they cost, you and your 2 pals wouldn't want to have bought 6 bottles of wine for them at £80 each now would you? Especially not when the Hungarian cage fighting team are the bouncers at the door.

Not sure about the trains to Vienna, we got a train to Prague. There are a few stations in Budapest but I think all the international trains go from the same station, cant remember the name but its in the north east of the city, you can get there by foot or metro. There is an international ticket booth seperate and out of the way from the main ticket office, if you end up at the ticket office and they dont understand what you mean they will point you to the international desk on the other platform where they speak English. We got our train tickets the day before travel and its no hassle at all and decent value.

Its a surprisingly expensive place, I was there about 3 years ago so not sure how the exchange rates will have changed but if in decent retaurants or fancy pubs and nightclubs expect to pay a little bit more than what you would in the West End, even for the local grog. The more downtrodden local type places were a little cheaper but not much. We mistakingly assumed Budapest fell into the 20p a pint Eastern European place when we booked it.
