  1. what the club has done by granting jackie's request is set in place a precedent and binned the club's policy of NOT having minute's silences, no matter who may have passed away. i for one am glad that the odd club policy has now been cast aside into the bin where it belongs. the club cannot now decline a show of respect for members of the thistle family now. fan groups have made many pleas to the club in the past to hold a minute silences for former players but those requests were met with a robust refusal using a club policy as the reasoning. even a request for an annual silence, as an alternative, to remember all thistle people who have passed away (players, managers, fans) was rejected. in my recent memory i can only recall two minutes silences - gary speed and the two wee girls who were murdered by ian huntley. nothing for anyone from the thistle family.
  2. was it? no wonder i'm confused, even the official site's reporting of the meet the board night says differently from you you say it was quite clearly explained? Not according to this thread from after the meeting. hands up who left that meeting thinking we'd made a profit of £46K and hands up who still thought that until this thread?
  3. now you've really confused me. so the trumpeted turnaround and profit figure being emblazoned across the screen at the meet the board event wasn't in fact a profit at all but was simply the financial position on that night? the slide showing past year loss performances compared to 'the latest' profit figures wasn't really accurate or representative at all? if that's true then its another howler of misinformation. have i misunderstood?
  4. dont forget the jumble collection
  5. so, any news on the jumble collection? hands up who has taken bag loads up (aside from those who said they would be cos they'll definitely have done it by now)? bet you it isn't as many as the number of goals we've scored in the last five games.
  6. whats really funny about this is that there are people on here who maintained that raising money by collecting jumble wasn't embarrassing yet who are now defending a video of our fans hurling abuse at their players from a foot away that the world could see. what an odd wee club we are. any updates on how many tonnes of clothes have been donated? anyone been up with bags of their old gear?
  7. good grief. can't believe you're having a pop at the club for this. the retail side of things is one of the success stories in recent times. come on, support the club.
  8. jordanhill jag - first let me state that you're in a minority thinking its a poor idea if this thread is anything to go by. most fans on here think its a good idea and should be applauded. get your tin hat on because you'll be getting abused soon for daring to suggest it was anything but a good idea. at least you should if people on here are consistent. what's become quite clear here and is still a lost in the minds of some is that this initiative is not a charitable one despite what was originally pedalled by those who leapt to the defence of the club last night. as mckennen has said, the collecting of clothes is clearly good business for the recycling sector, so good that they can afford to give away £400 for the privilege of collecting. but lets be clear for those who still don't compute - this isn't donating your old clothes to charity. i don't understand why the glaswegian would 'stich up' the club. could it be that they didn't understand the story themselves? and clearly my point hasn't come across regarding finances as i didn't say (or mean) the article did say we were cash strapped or that i thought we were or not. i don't have access to that kind of information except listening to the club's directors make a slick presentations about the finances of the club and how we are now in profit. to be honest, i've given up trying to follow what comes out of the club anymore. i can't make head nor tale of it. my original point and observation was a simple one. and that was simply to ask if we'd really fallen so far that we're collecting jumble to fundraise £400, not for charity as has been shown by others on this thread, but for the club.
  9. brilliant. there's about ten people on this thread
  10. what a sad man. you should join the army with that attitude
  11. agree. a great night for everyone who was there and then to find that we've hit a level where we're collecting jumble to raise money brings on despair
  12. why? because i don't agree with your view? i'm not exactly the only person on this thread who disagrees with you. its ok for you to say i'm wrong but not for me to suggest something different from you?
  13. was that the league sponsors' competition that every club was taking part in? did we not get £10k for that? i think we should set up a car wash on maryhill road on a sunday and get half the players washing people's cars. the other half could be chapping on doors looking for odd jobs. i've got some ironing needing done. i reckon paul paton would do it for a 50p an item.
  14. this forum has completely turned on its head these days. it used to be a place where the club's activities were scrutinised and challenged but now it seems to be full of happy clappers. fair enough. guys like red monkey, dave j and the like would have had a field day with something that contradicted something the chairman had said just weeks earlier and now sees the club collecting jumble to raise money. if this had been clyde collecting jumble can you imagine the slaughtering this forum would be giving them? well done to those who are going to take their old underpants and socks up to firhill. for the avoidance of doubt, does anyone know how much jumble is needed to make up a tonne? it is incredible and sad and telling that we've fallen so low that fans are applauding a jumble collection to raise £400. its also incredible that some can't see that.
  15. forgive me for misunderstanding. these bits didn't help
  16. probably not a bad idea. it might take away from the embarrassment of collecting jumble. certainly not the message coming from the meet the board night the other week. but hey, what's new? "we're fine, we're in the shite, we're fine, we're in the shite", etc, etc, etc. maybe we'll get emails coming soon from the nigerian prince that's just become a director
  17. and those milky way magic stars that aren't milky ways so that's another one. this is a great game
  18. and then he had some of those sherbert things called flying saucers. and a zoom lolly cos its shaped like a rocket.
  19. thats quite funny. well done uburtubee
  20. he said he wants to take up space travel after he retires so he's been given a mars bar and a milky way and a packet of outer spacers and a star bar and some starburst sweets and a packet of space dust to keep him going until he qualifies as an astronaut
  21. did he say if he's sold his shares in thistle yet? oops, didn't see honved's post.
  22. maybe someone else who was at the the meet the board thing the other week can remember better than me but didn't the chief executive say every seat had been inspected, cleaned and fixed during a thorough health and safety inspection by europa, a leading independently owned property and infrastructure support services company delivering integrated Building and Facilities Management Services?
