Seems like everyone who's advocating a stronger position seems to be anti-bigotry and anti-racist, no-one is saying Thistle should become a "political freak show" (whatever that means). Personally would never attempt to attach my political beliefs to any other fans or to Thistle at large, however, the club and the fans have a history of being against bigotry no? That's political in itself whether you like to admit it or not. We don't though. The atmosphere is guff. Any attempt to improve that should be welcomed. And the idea that Firhill is rubbish because it's full of "luvvies and lefties"? Jesus wept. Firhill's shite cause the stadium's been reorganised in a hamfisted way, the product on the pitch is poor and folk are being priced out of the games.

I like that slogan too, think it really should be emphasised more. Would be happy for this sort of position to be taken up without it having an impact on ticket sales but I do think it's a likely outcome of it as well. It's not impossible for the club's supporters to be anti-bigotry and anti-racist in outlook without being overtly left wing. I mean, let's face it, at Celtic there's only a couple of hundred in the total of thousands following that outlook and even then there's still songs about the IRA being belted out... Hardly the same as Pauli. Plenty of groups of supporters set up along anti-racism or anti-bigotry lines but aren't flag waving socialists/communists/anarchists.. Don't need to be left wing to be anti-discrimination. When was the idea of a leftie ultras group vaunted and sounded down?

Bang on. Always found it surreal that folk demand that football fans should be a-political in the face of racism and sectarianism which is pretty engrained in Scottish football. Thistle have always been against the bigotry which comes out of the Green and Blue parts of Glasgow, don't see why it shouldn't be an overt position of our fans. Personally would be happy to see us putting across anti-bigotry and anti-racist messages in as many ways as we can.

I'm all for Jags fans continuing to show their opposition to bigotry and racism through songs and possibly flags and banners but not sure that Thistle themselves can really do much. I think unless they felt that marketing themselves as a club that was ardently against discrimination would pull in more fans from the decent sections of Glasgow society, like Sankt Pauli did when far-right hooliganism was the norm over at city rivals HSV, then I don't think the club would feel that they needed to launch a one club campaign against it. Wouldn't actually mind a skull and cross bones themed Thistle shirt... Not in our name, not in red and yella!

Feel the same way mate, don't have the energy to protest them getting married. However, have made a point of disappearing out the country for a few days to avoid the media coverage of it. More important things for people to be taking to the streets about them two posh twats getting hitched.

That's my point in a nutshell. Two of the most successful (and well paid teams) and Real Madrid had two players (Casillas and Granero if I'm right) from their youth set up involved in that game, Barcelona have almost an entire first 11 in the squad from that set up. Real Madrid have always been about instant gratification and success rather than letting things grow like Barcelona have. Would outright love to see a team built around the youth structure doing well under Jackie at Firhill. We can but dream eh?

Personally, not keen on either their determination to buy success through over the top purchases (Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Kaka, Christiano Ronaldo etc) rather than any attempt to bring through significant numbers of their own players. For the same reason I resent most of the top teams in the EPL. When Florentino Pérez took over as chairman he said he wanted to turn their stadium into a footballing DisneyLand... On the footballing side I just think they're the archetypal "modern football" team and that isn't something I'm keen on. More concerned with promoting their "brand" than their fans or football. Off the park, their connection to Franco and the extreme right views of Ultras Sur (friends with the Ultras of Nazio in Italy after all) and other fans make me despise them all the more.

There's a group trying to organise a "Republican Royal Mile"/anti-monarchy party through in Edinburgh on the day. Not sure how it'll turn out though. Will be safely out the country and not have to see any of the wedding coverage.
