  1. I think it's brilliant. The whole ethos surrounding Superbowl coverage is the complete antithesis of the BBC... adverts and product placement galore, completely over-the-top razzmatazz.... :D

Just in case you've forgotten, here's a timely reminder that the cable cam is sponsored by Bud Light.

they nearly died when an ad came on for Chevrolet cars!!!

what a game by the way!!! looks like Steelers will have the biggest comeback ever

  2. Of course I did. But I booked the tickets on tuesday before any sign of adverse weather. They were half the price in advance however they are unfortunately non refundable. We talked about it from the Thursday night about whether to go or not . Sods law would have had us saying game was off , so don't travel and lose the ticket when the match might have been on after all.

The icing on the cake would have been getting thrown of the train at Stirling on the way home 4 hours early !

So glad to say im not as daft as I may look at times lol

Summer football bring it on !

    LOL's

  3. Planned a full day in Perth with my good lady. Bit of shopping, nice lunch and the a quick taxi to the match. Being on the 9.50 from queens street meant I was just outside Perth when we found out it was match off!Very gutting considering the weather was excellent with blue sky and no wind at all. Lots of flooded fields on the way up so probably not a bad shout pitch wise.

£ 38 squid down the drain tho ! Doubt I will be there for the replay.

did you not read about the 10am inspection announced on Friday morning?

  4. would also love to see

    Denis McQuade's wonder goal v Clyde c.1972

goals scored & setup by Donald Park (many scored by Colin McAdam)

    goals scored by Kenny Watson

2 4-3 wins over Rangers at Firhill in the late 70's and also the 3-2 win over them at the start of the 71/72 season

a Chic Charnley free kick at Forfar in the early 90's, I think it was scored from 40 odd yards

These are just a few to add, I could go on for days!!!

    Great topic :thumbsup2:

  5. Well T did say that this was completely theoretical and I got it almost completely wrong, except the date of the Morton game. Fortunately we are not playing any teams home and away the same week, but we are playing 5 away out of 6 games in February

hopefully we can improve on our abysmal away record!!!

  6. Rumours on the Daily Record live transfer thingy that Gary Harkins may be heading to Hibs for a £75k fee that may rise to £130k... money in the bank for us if that happens and if we ever see it.

I would have thought we would only get a cut of a future fee if they made a profit. As we apparently got £150K then not much chance of Dungdee making a profit

  7. Grehan was poor when he came on, but to be fair to him he needs games before we can tell if he is going to be any good. Look at the difference in Doolan & Erskine now that they are getting a decent run of games.

Great performance by all yesterday, well done to them :thumbsup2:

  8. BBC Online generally credit the source of quotes. All it takes is a “speaking to the Club’s website”. Were The Glaswegian to do that then I wouldn’t have any real problem.

There is also a subtle difference also in what the BBC, and other media sources do, and what The Glaswegian is doing. The former are essentially just disseminating news from elsewhere. The Glaswegian is creating a news story of their own relying on quotes and information provided by someone else.

It’s not really Grant that is moaning here (it had to happen once – sorry) but me. The stuff provided on the Club website isn’t prepared as a press release but as a genuine desire to try and make the Club’s website the primary source for Thistle information. I don’t want to get too deep into how successful that has been, and there is certainly plenty of room for improvement. However, the fact that people say “I’ll wait to it is on the OS before believing it” and not in a sarcastic tone (I hope) as was perhaps the case previously at least suggests a partial success. It’s frustrating then after actually having gone to trouble of sourcing quotes and information to see someone else use it and pass it off as their own work.

Finally, to repeat what I posted yesterday. The greater exposure the Club gets the better. As long as The Glaswegian, or any other paper, acknowledge where they got their quotes from then I’m happy for anything to be lifted from the Club’s website.

    PS C'mon The Jags.

I'm surprised at this given the fact the The Glaswegian has regular video interviews with our players, so I assumed there was a good working relationship between them & the Club. Hope this can be sorted out amicably as they seem to be supportive of PTFC

  9. From my notes at last year's AGM, the Warrior's signed a 5 year deal one and a half years ago (so 2 and a half years left), they pay approximately £100,000 in rent and we get the bar takings from their home games.

At the event on Wednesday evening David Beattie said that this accounts for 15% of our income.

surely you mean 3 & a half years???

  10. That's what I thought. However, Arsenal have just allowed Aaron Ramsey to go on loan to Cardiff for a month. He had a spell with Nottingham Forest at the end of last year when he returned from injury. There has been no suggestion that Ramsey can't play for Arsenal when his Cardiff loan ends.

Ramsey was a sub recently for Arsenal I'm sure (one of the Cups) I can't remember if he played or not, but it is strange given the rules

  11. Wherever Liam goes, I hope it is not to somewhere that is liable to come back and haunt us.

Again, it sticks in my craw that a club millions and millions in debt can be paying a transfer fee for a player. Grrrr!

He will, cos he'll score goals. we just need to accept it. The problem with Liam is his goals per chance ratio is pretty poor (especially his one on ones as we all know) & with the amount of chances we create it's not good enough

  12. That's it. They owe him the rest of his contract, but if we sign him that's cancelled. In which case, the HMRC % goes up. Sounds quite likely to me.

thanks for that. It does seem a bit daft though, say he was on £500 per week on a 2 year contract at Dens & we only pay £300 until the rest of the season, surely they still owe him the difference for lost earnings due to a cancelled contract?

  13. I can guess a few reasons why Fox has signed another short term extension. One of them may sound a bit far fetched, but how about:

If we sign him he comes off Dundee's books. Would that not increase HMRC's % of the overall debt? With them needing 25% to scupper the CVA, and that apparently on a knife edge, every little bit could make a difference and tip the balance. Once the CVA vote is taken, he could sign for......whoever? Jackson said that the CVA could be delayed until around 4th February though, which could affect both that, and Dundee's transfer window options, if they survive and come out of admin before the end of January. I wonder why they're looking at a delay beyond the 28th?

Am I talking keech or does that make sense? Feel free to shoot this theory down as I'm just speculating wildly.

Fox was effectively sacked along with all the others from Dundee, so it doesn't matter if he signs for somebody else as Dundee owe him for the rest of his contract. That's the way I see it but if I am wrong somebody please correct me :thumbsup2:

  14. Joey Pathak (Asian) played in midfield in the early 80s and at the time was one of the first Asian players I think to play in Scotland. Was Bobby Barnes also pre Rod Macdonald?

Bobby Barnes was before Rod MacDonald by a couple of seasons

  15. We signed Rod McDonald for 100k if memory serves.

I have a hazy recollection of that being touted as our most expensive signing to date, but i can't be sure

I think McDonald was originally quoted at 100K but was in reality only 30K. I think I read somewhere that the combined Murdoch/McLaughlin cost was 130K & we paid a few bob for Grant Tierney (again initial quotes were 100K but I think it was less) but I'm not sure who really was our most expensive signing. Maybe Tom will know?
