Just to be clear it was just a comment based on whether we would be in a position to offer new deals to the existing players who we would like to re-sign because of the fact that we haven’t done so yet. I had not an inkling what was going to happen and the financial aspect was just a general observation of the perceived position financially we find ourselves in.
Fair play - Thanks for the clarification Michael.

Does anyone know why the death of Billy Thomson wasn't recognised today? I thought given his Rangers connection as player and coach alone would warrant a minute's rememberance.
All players were wearing black armbands LIB.

It’s the correct decision. Poor recruitment having been backed financially, conceding the title after the last game and then not giving a monkeys about today’s cup tie.
If people are brutally honest, the bulk of this season has been honking, especially the last 2 league games. Things had gone stale.
Be honest Big Col - have you been approached??

This decision wasn't taken today - the Board or whoever is taking these decisions were anticipating a 5-0 horsing under which they could have covered themselves.
Whatever McCall's deficiencies, the manner of this does not do the club any favours at all.

Interesting comment from Michael Max during the game … “who knows who will be here next season given the financial situation”……..🤔
With a reported attendance of 44,000 today whatever Low has possibly left behind is hopefully filled……..
Very interesting comment in view of what has transpired.

I've generally got time for McCall.
His comments before this game aren't acceptable though.
I want a Thistle team that's going to Ibrox to do their best to overcome them. I'll accept a team getting beaten on the park by a better team on the day.
What I cannot accept is a Thistle manager who appears to have given up on the game to be played tomorrow.
McCall's comments sound ominously like the latter.
If so, it plainly is not good enough.

Should we claim a moral victory if the score is less than 4-0??

After his antics yesterday not sure I would be in a rush to keep Graham in fact wouldn’t be bothered if he left but given his pal Ian gave a 2 year contract we are probably stuck with him which in itself is a farce as not convinced he has another playing year in him which in itself is a farce.
Likwise I don’t think Bannigan has another 2 years in him but due to the nice comfy pals act that this club has from top to bottom I remain sure he will get a 2 year deal in the summer
Wow!!
This from the poster who criticised GRE2 for being overly negative during last week???
What a difference a few days make.

Some very choice sweary words directed towards the ref and his parentage I believe
If that's true he deserves his arse kicked up and down Maryhill Road.
He gets knocked around every weekend so knows what to expect when up against an 'experienced' pro like Reynolds.
It's true he doesn't get enough protection form refs - there was one graphic incident where he was grabbed by the waist a few minutes previous to the red card - however verbal abuse of the ref cannot be excused, if true.
He ought to know better than that.
-
He's positively making it very difficult to retain him in his current position.
-
How's the cargo lasting tonight Bobby?
-
What was Graham's offence that led to the red card?
Wasn't obvious to me at the time, but the fact that there was little protest suggests it was a stick-on.
That did not cost us the game though.
We followed up two recent howling home performances with ......................another howling home performance. And t6hat was already clear long before half-time.
Lawless wasn't fully fit - not his fault.
The two positives - such as they were - McAvoy who looked steady and composed, and Turner who looks a class above when he's played in his proper position.
Danny Mullen might be decent playing off a fit Brian Graham, but he is never a lone striker. No, no, and no once more.

Anyone know who the player Archie was talking about getting in was ?
Leigh Palin.

Hamilton's goalkeeper made his first (only) save in the 90+3rd minute

So, let's think this through.
11 v 11 - On the park
0 v 4 - h*n ******** that are officials
0 v 3 - VAR who will certainly be called upon when it isn't going to the Sevco script.
-
We'll gub them.
They don't even have three penalty takers let alone five.
Have faith you folks.
-
Danny Mullen did a stellar job controlling the clearance and setting up the opening for Aidan's finish.
-
Re the penalty - Aaron Muirhead apparently admitted in hospitality after the game that it was a penalty and he was the offender.
Make of that whatever you will.
-
Wonderful news.
Just wonderful.
Finally PTFC is getting something right behind the scenes.
Welcome back Kris you legend!!!
-
Surprised nobody's yet mentioned the cameo by the pantomime villain called Dougie Imrie.
Even in retirement he continues to deliver amusement and foul and abusive language in equal measure.
Wonderful to see................once again.
-
Two more since the original post - Aero v Fake Thistle and whoever scored today's goal (Docherty? Mullen?).
Now if we could just stop losing goals from set plays please......................

There’s truth in that but I think it was only in his last season with us after he was out injured for a while that his form dropped. Most of the team were culpable that season
They may well have been.
But not as much as Alan Archibald was.
Before anyone asks, I'll start with the failure to go for a win v Hamilton at NDP when they had lost six on the bounce, compounded with losing 0-2 at home to Kilmarnock when they were rudderless before Steve Clarke took over.
The writing was already on the wall by then

In recent seasons Thistle have been generally underwhelming from set plays.
Credit where it's due though, that's now four successive games we've scored from corners (Milne v Arbroath, BBG v Kelty, Sneddon v Cove Rangers and Milne v Ayr United).
Long may that trend continue.

Two teams that knock us out of the Cup almost every time we play them: the pars and the tarts.
Be positive Jaggernaut - it could have been worse.
Dundee United and Aberdeen knock us out of the cup every time we play them.

It's more accurate to say that team clicked because the players signed by Jackie McNamara took McCall's foundations to another level - O'Donnell, Lawless, Craig, Craigen, Murray (in particular) and Fox. After Jackie, Archie then took them over the line to yet another level.
