  1. Hope he does really well there. Really enjoyed his first few years at the club which were a breath of fresh air compared to what came before. He brought in some players who turned out to be key in our promotion team as well as guys like Harkins. It ended a little sour but he is always very complimentary about us.

Also would like to see Ayr back, at least as a strong Championship team. Always enjoy the trip down there

Last season we had the lowest average attendance in the league. This season we will likely have the second lowest.

Tbf we had the seventh highest attendance last season. Granted we had some very large away supports at games that have been absent this year but there has been a noticeable and disappointing decrease in the home support.

  3. Noticed he was on the bench for the development squad yesterday.

I know he had a pretty bad injury last season but is it fair to say he hasn't progressed as we would have imagined? I have seen him play once, very briefly at the Gateshead friendly, so interested to hear what others think

  4. I'm a season ticket holder and have zero issue about this.

Anyone buying a season ticket for financial value is off their head. I already missed the St Mirren game this year and may very well miss a couple more before season is over.

Hopefully we get a decent take up of this and can get decent crowds for these games

  5. The benefit they have is huge fan base, big sponsorship deals and ability to milk corporate clients.

Scottish football would have to do something different that fits in with the situation we have.

Go further down the pecking order and it's similar over there though. I work over in Germany quite often and most often that not take in a game wherever I happen to be. I think I've only once paid more than entrance to Firhill and that was to watch Bayern beat Hoffenheim 7-1.

The match day experience over there puts us to shame.

Frans has been unlucky to go on trial at two clubs in turmoil. Jose Riga was very unhappy with his Chairman during the transfer window but, contrary to expectations, has stayed on at Blackpool.

Hockaday was only the head coach at Leeds so it's doubtful that he had the final say in recruitment. The chairman, Cellino, recruits and gets rid of players. Paddy Kenny was dumped because the Chairman thought that his birthday was unlucky.

ETA - Frans, even if he leaves in January, could be a valuable signing. He will certainly want to impress scouts from other clubs.

That Paddy Kenny story isn't true...

Over 20 players left Blackpool, including caretaker manager Barry Ferguson, at the end of last season. Jose Riga has had trouble getting the players that he wanted in. He wanted a new centre back and centre forward at the end of September. Budget could be the issue.

Thanks to our Blackpool correspondent for the latest down at Bloomfield Rd.

How anyone can moan in anyway about this signing is beyond me. Hopefully he'll do us a job and we get him tied up on a longer deal in January if it possible.

I was a critic of our summer dealings but I would say we are now in a positive position.

Maybe not when you consider that he has been at Lierse for 9 years and was probably freed last season. Still the Belgian top division is a step up from our top division and he looks a very imposing figure. Just what we need in that back line

Tbf 9 years ago he was 16 so you can hardly expect him to have made many appearances in his first four years or so.

    Sounds promising but we'll see

  9. This being a must win game has nothing to do with my opinion of Archibald. A run of hard games is coming up and it's very important we get 3 points today.

I don't think anyone can disagree with that.

    Wins safeguard Archibald's job.

If I had some vendetta against him and wanted him to go at any cost then I would want us to lose today.

    You don't?

The Tele2 Arena in Stockholm? It has "a maximum capacity of up to 40,000 and a rectractable roof, the arena is able to host concerts, equestrian, motor sport, ice sports, banquettes, exhibitions, company events and shareholder meetings, in addition to football."

I'm not saying these aren't pipe-dream ideas, but it is shown to be possible in other countries.

Im sure the example given was much smaller, in the size Killie were proposing (~8k). Can't find anything online about it

I used to be in the 'Save Firhill' camp but I'm now not convinced it is best suited to our needs. As said the place is falling apart; the JH, although offering one of the best views in Scottish football, is smattered with broken seats, faded colouring, disgusting toilets and a concourse which hasn't changed since we moved in. The North Stand is an identikit stand, the Main Stand is a death trap and the Bing is literally a dump. The atmosphere has been woeful this year as well, not wanting to diss the North Stand guys but it's been considerably quieter than previous two seasons.

I am in two minds about St Mirren's ground. The size is perfect but the stands too shallow meaning the view isn't great on my two visits. I dont know the answer to improving that unless you look at Hamiltons stadium which personally I quite like although I assume others dont. I am however very envious of St Mirren's training centre, youth system and commercial operations. All three put us to shame, although hopefully with Thistle Weir we can hope to emulate their success.

Ideally I would have us move from Firhill to an area well served by transport, eateries and bars. We would have a ~8000 seater stadium but with some uniqueness about it. The new Brighton stadium is by far the best fully new ground I have visited and the experience is superior to anything I have seen in British football. The away end, for example, stocked up with Derbyshire beers and food(not just pies...), was lit black and white and had pictures of Derby greats in the concourse which itself was in stark contrast to the bear concrete we get up here.

I would have guessed our best chance of getting something would have been a tie in with the Warriors and the Council but I suspect that ship has sailed.

I fear relegation this year followed by another long spell plodding along in First Division with sub 2000 crowds. We really should be riding the crest of a wave right now and being very optimistic and bullish of our future, unfortunately for whatever reasons that isn't the case. There is nothing stopping us being an established player in the top division in the country but for that we really need some drive and imagination from the board to keep fans on board and buying into the future vision of the club. TAG looked to be a great platform for this but is now nothing more than a bad joke.
