  1. What a fantastic night. A great result, an amazing crowd, and now just a couple of results away from winning the league. And to top it all off, we get The Return of the King, Sir John Lambie. It was great to see him back at Firhill and the cracking memories from those grand ol' heady days came flooding back. I thought I would start a thread to get some fans favourite memories from Lambie's time in charge. I have two. First one. We were getting thrashed by Aberdeen at home, 3-0 down at half time thanks to a Duncan Shearer hat trick. We were getting trounced big time. Towards the end of the 1st half, the heavens opened and it snowed like nothing I have seen before. Our sole groundsman came on the pitch with a broom which he tried to use to clear the lines of snow, however he only managed 10 yards before the brush snapped in two and he slowly walked off the pitch. Seconds later, the announcer informed us the game was abandoned and the result void. We then replayed the game and won it!! Only the Jags. The second one, is plain and simple. Going to France to see the mighty Jags in Europe against Metz in the Intertoto Cup. What a night! What an era.

It had been snowing all afternoon. We were 1 - 0 down at half time. It was a youth squad player with the broom. Kicked off the second half and Aberdeen scored again. Game abandoned shortly after that. The following Tuesday the game was replayed and we lost 7 - 0. Apart from that, your memory is spot on!

The trip to Metz was indeed an amazing night.

  2. Maybe I would have got a ticket if all those weans hadn't went. Oh well. I enjoyed the Wednesday night Cowdenbeath away game anyway.

Perhaps you would have went if you had taken one of the many opportunities available to buy a ticket.

Partick Thistle value their young fans and I, for one, applaud that.

  3. Re the Spurs fans at the game.

A bunch of guys with London accents (possibly Spurs supporters?) were in the area I was standing in the first half

and showed more interest in their phones than the game.

At the end of the game I have to leave sharp to pick up my wife and passed the same bunch of guys

coming back from the shopping centre, so they couldn't possibly have been watching the game at the stadium -

    maybe in the boozer.

I hated seeing that particular flag flying alongside our colours and was delighted to see it being torn down.

Reasons?. Well maybe it's just me, but in my mind it's associated with BNP, knuckle dragging Rangers fans, and in the old days

the hooligan element of the England support.

I'm more than happy to see other club supporters come along as guests with their flags in club colours

but I just don't see the St George's flag as a Spurs flag.

Would rather they just went elsewhere.

Half a dozen London casuals pushed past me in the, so called, catering queue. They left through a fire exit followed by a couple of cops.

No idea what they were doing at the game. We really don't need them.

  4. Got the boys calmed down and into bed. They are only 4 & 6 and think this happens all the time! It's been a much longer, harder road for me (and you). Who's going to calm me down?

Whatever happens from here on, it has been an incredible ride this season. Great football, terrific atmosphere, amazing marketing. There is only one way to sum it up. One Thistle - Forever And Ever

Intrigued by what is going to be announced at 7pm on Wednesday.

  5.

... Morton have a little wiggle room, but not much

Thistle have to keep churning out the results.

The result between Thistle and Morton is important but in the end decides nothing

The game now is to pick the point where you believe that Thistle will have enough points that Morton can no longer catch them.

My own thought is that it will be the Dunfermline game at Firhill which will settle matters.

If we win our next two games and Morton lose their next two games, we'll have 71pts with 5 to play, they'll have 61 with 4 games left.

If we lose our next two games, they win their next two and Dunfermline disappear, we'll have 56pts with five left, Morton 60pts, 4 to play.

    Far too many variables still.

  6. Clearly, winning this cup is trivial compared to promotion and therefore the Morton game is more important.

However, it is a cup final. As I have only been a Jags fan for 22 years it will be my first and I intend to enjoy myself. For my 4 & 6 year old boys it will be a magical day out and I won't be telling them that it isn't important.

  7. I heard the board and the police are conspiring to give the entire ground to Celtic to maximise revenue and overcome segregation issues :frantic:

I am deeply shocked at reading this. Ian Mac has been saying repeatedly that the North Stand is for Jags fans and the police are happy with this. Now this news.

If this goes ahead, I for one will not be attending the game. I imagine all Jags fans will be in the same boat.

  8. Brilliant result by, without doubt, the best footballing side in the league. We have dealt with huge pressure for weeks in the game of catch up. Great credit to a rookie manager and his young squad. Interesting to see how long Morton dealt with the pressure. Bottled it in the first game. White flags flying in Greenock?

I expect a real kicking, literally, from their 'seasoned pro's' on April 10.

  9. I have concerns our defensive record is the best in the league and since muirhead and Balatoni have been put back together our goals against is the best in the league by a mile and do not think dowie will match either aaron or Conrad

Please do not upset what is a splendid pairing

I agree. What Archie has done is provide cover in case of injury as he is himself injured.

  10. .these signings in my opinion point towards Archie knows or believes there is interest in Balatoni and Muirhead from various clubs

If you listen to the rumours then it points to one or both moving on ?

Whatever. The important thing is that Archie has acted swiftly and shrewdly to provide defensive cover until the end of the season.

  11. Credit to you for getting there . . . . . . eventually !

As i said lets see if your run continues now your top, a whole different kind of pressure awaits now for your youngsters.

Your team have done well and it's not over yet. I would be amazed if we didn't drop points on the run in, even gods slip up occasionally.

We have handled tremendous pressure over the last few weeks. Playing catch up with games in hand isn't easy. We have had a change of manager too. We will see how well this great young team and rookie manager cope with this new situation. If Archie can keep them on their toes, we will win the league.

This is the season of dreams for Jags fans. The team are playing scintillating football (look it up). Morton have done well to hoof their way into second place but now you are under pressure. Journeymen who have seen success pass them by before. They have done well enough. A lot of our players have a bright future and are a joy to watch.

I imagine many SPHell chairmen are sleeping easier now we are in our rightful place too.

  12. While its in our hands to ensure it doesn't go to last day of season, IF it did, i'd have more than a squeeky bum with us having to face Dumbarton away (and the corresponding fixture of our rivals for the title). Dumbo will likely be fighting for their lives and sfl1 status and we did come acropper down there already this season. While Jags support will be noisy and packed, their backing could be on a par. Therefore, it has all the signs of a game that could go either way.

The Greenock Wallapers on other hand have an away trip to Grangemouth, against a team who will have nothing to play for. With a potential large away support packing that stand behind the goals, their support will easily drown out the home support, so both on and off pitch the wallapers will be up for it against a team and support going thruough the last day of season motions.

All the more reason imo to have our destiny decided before 4th May.

7 games before then, a repeat of our form in our last 7, and titles ours before we head down to the Rock.

A key to avoiding this situation is another win at Cowdenbeath on Saturday. Not just for the three points in the Bank of Thistle but also helping Dumbarton to free themselves of playoff fears before 4 May.

  13. If there are no assets then I'd expect a short administration. (Players are the only ones I can think of). The Rangers admin went on for months because there were a lot of assets for them to leech off.

Very similar situation to Portsmouth and Coventry who don't own their grounds.

    Oh well, that's ok then.

  14. Dunfermline fans to pay the administrator's fees?? These guys charge about £250 an hour. They are scumbags leeching money from those who are desperate.

If HMRC accept DAFC going into administration, many players and backroom staff will be sacked the same day. Who will pay their wages then?

Will Thistle's 'gesture' include the players who will no longer be employees of Dunfermline?

Can their fans afford to come to Firhill if they are paying the fat administrator f**kers?

  15. It now looks as we'll know fate of the Pars tomorrow, There's talk of administration tho' liquidation is possibly more likely. Question. If it's the latter, tho' players could be a immediately released under the former, can the Pars players sign for another club and play out the season? I know there's a deadline for signing loan players but don't know if that deadline's been and gone or indeed whether signing out of contract players is treated the same.

Apart from the unfavourable points/goals swing losing the home game on the 27th would be devastating financially. Being our last scheduled home game we were always going to have an exceptional turnout.

    Fingers crossed.

I read somewhere that they can sign for another club up to March 31. After that they are f**ked until next transfer window. Can't remember where I saw it. Can't find my glasses either. Got my name and address written on a slip of paper in my wallet too, just in case this memory problem gets any worse.

If the story was in a newspaper it is almost certainly not true.

    Anybody seen my wallet?

  16. ...For anyone too young to remember Leeds were beaten in the European Cup semi-final by Celtic, beaten in the FA Cup Final by Chelsea and lost the league by a point to the Arsenal. I can only imagine how sick they felt...

The year after losing the cup final to Chelsea, the same great Leeds team (Sprake, Charlton, Bremner, Lorimer, Clarke, Giles, Madely etc) lost a fourth round cup tie at Colchester United 3-2. A real giant killing. One of the most amazing games I have been at.

This young Thistle side are providing a few amazing performances too. April 10 has the potential to live long in the memory.

  17. I am in no way and I stress that having a go at those who unfortunately are less able bodied than myself, the NS has been a great success, but it could be a safety issue if it gets even more busy,

Misunderstanding, Tjag. I didn't get the safety implication you intended. Think Lady Issy makes a good suggestion.

  18. Noticed today that it took a long time to get out the North Stand, and as we shuffled along the front six deep, we suddenly had to go to three wide because a guy in a wheelchair was blocking off three lanes. I am not suggesting that anyone should be denied the Shed experience on matchday, Only that perhaps anyone blocking an exit could be moved over to the area towards the turnstiles for the last five minutes where it would be less of an obstruction. Thoughts ?.

Shuffling along may be an inconvenience to you or I, to somebody whose life involves sitting in a wheelchair it would be a joy.

    End of topic.
