  1. We maybe could, but I don't think banning them would help. I imagine many of them would just roll up to the ticket booth and buy a ticket and sit where they wanted. I know the suggestion was made with the best of intentions, but I actually think it would be worse to have them amongst us.
  2. I agree with most of what you have said, but have highlighted the bit in bold as this is not neccessarily just for one game, and isnt just about Celtic. Jim Alexander has said as much. Say we play Celtic at Firhill early on in the season and the Police etc. decide that the stadium set up with away fans in the North Stand is easier to police/segregate - they could then recommend it stays this way for all matches and we couldn't do anything about it. Our hands are tied. Disappointed that Chris Jack in the Times today seems to suggest it was a Thistle decision to 'ban' the Celtic fans from the main stand. Doesn't do us any favours.
  3. It's nothing to do with Thistle really, but I find it scandalous that the Police would effectively say that if they are going to let of flares on a packed area, they would be happier if it were in the North Stand. I'm really angry about this and would encourage people to write to Councillors/MSPs, BBC sport via twitter etc. - anything to show our disgust at this. It's awful that onethistle can put such effort into improving the Matchday experience for everyone, only for this to be cast aside, because elements of an away support choose to behave illegally in a football stadium. It's just so wrong. We can't even say it'll just be for one game. I'm sure I saw that a newspaper had them on the front cover after the cup final, but as I wasn't interested at the time I didn't read the article. Anybody know where I would address a request to the police under freedom of information? I'd like to know how many arrests they've made due the 'consistent use of flares' by elements of the Celtic support. Might also write to Lawell for a response. I would encourage people not to go on an anti-Celtic tirade though and instead focus on the fact that we are being moved in order to accommodate likely illegal activity in a part of our stadium. For me that's what it boils down to.
  4. Are you able to tell what the police advice was and any reasoning for it? Not asking to have a go at Thistle, just so we've got the facts.
  5. Jim - can you confirm what has actually happened here? You seem to be suggesting that the council safety certificate was issued with the stipulation that we follow all police recommendations. The police have then recommended that Celtic fans be housed in the north stand rather than the main stand. The club have no choice but to accept this. Is this about right?
  6. Am I understanding this right - the council will only give us a safety certificate for the main stand if we guarantee that no flares (or similar) are ever in it? Yet they will give a satiety certificate for an enclosed stand with a capacity of 2000 (North Stand) and not make this stipulation? I don't care what the stand is made of, but to effectively declare an enclosed area packed with people as safe (or safer) for the use of flares is just stupid. And the police back this up despite it being illegal to possess them? I hate when people talk about 'levels', but this decision is wrong on so many levels. In fact every level imaginable.
  7. And the board? Throughout the whole of last season, the 'twelfth man' has always been talked up and emphasised how important the north stand move has been. To ignore this is infuriating. Are the board going to support the team and continue with the north stand regardless? Or are there going to be caveats in everything? Anyway - Beattie said in his programme notes for the Dunfermline game that there would be another meet the board night 'in the coming weeks' or words to that effect. To give him his due, he's never shirked a question when asked - but what's the chance of this going ahead now? And when? TBH attendances/sponsorship/league revenue will be up next year - if Celtic/the police won't accept the main stand for the away support I'd rather say fcuk them and say its that or nothing.
  8. Would it be a fair assumption that the fact the image of the 'away top' has remained on this topic suggests it isn't the real deal? Not a snide swipe, but maybe PT could comment? Edited to add - just gone back to check and it was PT who posted the image! I though he had seen/chosen the training wear so perhaps it is legit. Bit plain for my liking, but I've only ever bought the home kit anyway.
  9. From what I'm reading, the OP probably put £320.30 in the total amount box, rather than £295.00 which is where the confusion came in. APR was then added to the amount he said he wanted to borrow (£320.30) instead of the amount he actually wanted to borrow (£295). Anyway that's just the way I've read it and it makes sence to me!
  10. Loved both of them while at Firhill, but signing photo left a bad taste. The way Erskine conducted himself after that, both on and off the park showed what a class act he is. Seeing Paton in the Utd top, I think nothing but bad things. When I see Erskine in it I'll be proper gutted, but wishing him every success. Except against us!
  11. Okay - so looking at Scott Fox on the photos on the OF it does look a little more yellow than orange but still, black, white and yellow??!!
  12. Think people are being a wee bit harsh on the initial limited listings - some of it doesn't look too bad, but would agree that the orange and white flashes/lines on some of the tops is odd.
  13. As an aside - if you are in the area Lleida is lovely - went for the day last summer while on hols.
  14. Serious question, but how are people who do not have computer access/not computer literate being contacted about season tickets? I'm a season ticket holder, will renew but I'm on the Internet all the time so I know about everything from early bird offers to pricing etc. Every season I've been sent a renewal form, but not this season (yet?). How many people are potentially slipping through the net, or are we all expected to be proactive in this? My point is that some people can't or have limited experience online and might be missing out
  15. I'm sure I've had emails along these lines, offering to put money into my bank account..
  16. Does anybody know if existing season ticket holders are going to be mailed info or are we just to download the forms and be proactive ourselves? No critisism in my question, just wondered as I'd like to renew sooner rather than later.
  17. Q. Why do we sing a song containing the words 'pope' and 'queen'? A. Because fans of Rangers and Celtic also do it. Is really worth defending? I'm not so sure.
  18. In a funny sort of way, JMac has probably done us a bit of a favour. Previously, when it was reported that we were taking him to court for the contractual sum due to us, it would have been easy for fans of other teams to think of Thistle as the bad guys - just sour grapes on our part. Now just about everyone agrees, he looks like a pr!ck. The rest of my extended family are Celtic season ticket holders and he was one of their all time favourites and nothing could be said against him. Now nothing has to be, as his actions have done it all.
  19. For me, all we need doing just now is league amalgamation, so there is one body overseeing all, and playoffs between top and second leagues. This would also mean the money should be split in a fairer fashion. Everything else, including league sizes can follow at a later date. SPL2 would set Scottish Football back and not improve anything - would just create a bigger mess.
  20. Hope we make a donation to Dunfermline anyway. Don't think there were 500 there today, but those that did turn up were noisy, got right behind their team which added to the atmosphere and the team gave us a guard of honour. Raiths offer and subsequent nil-donation must have left a bad taste. Hope Thistle can at least contribute something.
  21. Did anyone notice a Joma top that a few of the wee guys on the pitch at half time were wearing? Didn't seem to have a club badge on it but had a panel on the back where name/number would go, so to me this wasn't training wear - is this maybe our home top for next season? Somebody must have a pic.
