  1. Cannot say that I knew Susan, but from everything said above and in the excellent tribute on the club website sounds like a wonderful person with that dash of fun and personality that was unique to her and yet at the same time characteristic of all that is best in Thistle fans.

Taken far too soon. Condolences to all friends and family.

This is spot on. James is a midfielder who operates primarily in forward areas. There's rather an overload of competition in that area at present. If he is loaned out it's important he goes to a club who'll play him in an advanced position as opposed to being used as some sort of midfield cover. It's Lyon's goal threat, direct and assisting, that should be utilised.

Out of likes, so will just say “Couldn’t agree more”!

No, nor am I. How's it been working out for you so far? 😊

Tried to send a laughing face but had run out of likes!

PS But I do enjoy my occasional wins much more than those who win all the time!

BB. Thanks to your new rules, I still have some choices to make even at this late stage of the tournament. I have remained true to my principles by selecting the perceived underdog even when the teams are technically at the same level. Not sure if this is a winning strategy?!

Agree with comments. The ladies are a credit to PTFC. Although the points differences don't show this I believe this season the league falls into 3 sections.

    1. Rangers, Celtic  and Glasgow City (City need to be careful they don't drift out of this group)

    2. Hearts and Hibs (Goal difference not points show the disparity)

    3. The rest lead by Partick Thistle Ladies.

I accept including the Jags in the latter section is open to criticism given our closeness to the Edinburgh teams but I think they are stronger overall and this shows in their goall difference compared to ours.

However, notwithstanding the above, we are consistently punching above our weight and should now comfortably secure a top 6 place for the second successive season.

Graham's signings, for example, Slater & Boyce  are clearly strengthening the squad and this bodes well for next season when hopefully we can continue to be a top 6 club, regularly take points from Hearts and Hibs and achieve a similar points and goals difference.

Well done PT Ladies and Management Team.

So good he said it twice!

Well done on a fairly comfortable 2-0 win, now have an 11 point lead on Aberdeen with a goal difference advantage of 31 and just 5 games until the split.

Absolutely brilliant achievement. As well as the huge chasm between PTWFC and 7th place, PTWFC are presenting Hibs and Hearts with a very creditable challenge for 4th and 5th places.

Let me cut through all the lenghy posts as it is so simple as to what needs to be done.

We get on to our good friend David Hasselholf who gets on to another person who probably hangs around Hollywood - Taylor Swift - and he tells her to get her dosh in to Firhill and not Firpark!

Not expecting much success with this tactic. Taylor Swift will just shake it off.

  8. Would quite like to see the 11 that finished this game start the next game. Stanway, McBeth and Robinson bring much more energy and drive than Bannigan, McInroy and Alston.

Graham and Lawless are great players but a game or 2 coming off the bench may do them no harm and perhaps recharge batteries. Graham is a good asset to have at the end of the game both for his attacking and defensive abilities. Equally a fresh Lawless might pose new challenges for defenders, whereas he has seemed to tire in the last few games. Adeloye and Diack have strength and running power and can both finish.

Just a thought. I was pleased to see all 5 substitutions well used today as sometimes Doolan has seemed a bit slow and reluctant to make changes.

    Now that’s a goal !

Brilliant move with 3 subs combining. Diack took it really well.

Robinson and Adeloye both busy and made an impact.

Neither McInroy nor Alston made much impression. Robinson must have a strong claim for a starting place.

  10. No doubt there will be different views on the Thistle performance, but one thing we can hopefully agree on is that the referee had a total nightmare. Completely lost the plot.

Fitzy was at the wrong end of numerous decisions. Has he done something to annoy the referee in a past life?

    5. An inconsistent goalkeeper discomfits any defence.

To balance up the comments on Jamie, especially for any not at the game, he has made at least one world class save of a shot heading for the top corner.

I appreciate that goalkeeper and defence all at sea for the goal. Could not see properly what happened. Ball seemed to bounce about randomly and ended up in the net. Can anyone describe it? Did a Morton player score or was it an own goal or deflection?

Quite aggressive with Alston and McInroy in midfield. Asking a lot of Banzo to do the defensive work

For some strange reason Banzo is often one of our furthest forward players but lacks the creativity to take advantage. We need a lot more from McInroy and Alston. Would happily see one or both replaced.

Watched a bit of the game last night. Poor is an understatement. That said I should hardly have thought a midwinter match in Inverness was likely to be entertaining. Our problem with the top two has been taking only one point out of a possible twelve against them. Somehow we need to reverse these results AND win away at grounds where drawing should be acceptable. Kinda feel the damage has been done.

Tho' we no doubt need a win today to stay in touch, a draw should be welcome. Morton are on a roll and should be expecting to win at home.

Watched most of the second half. Inverness were so frustrating. They had the better of the play and were making regular inroads down the left wing especially. However, they were so negative in their approach and kept turning back rather than risk anything at all. It seemed most un-Duncan Ferguson like.

Inevitably they lost a goal and then threw everything at Dundee United. Classic case of too little too late. If they had played with half that adventure and invention before, they would surely have won.

  14. Just had a thought for a partickle. In our 2 cup final wins in 1921 and 1971, the winning goals were scored respectively by John Blair and Bobby Lawrie (Lawrie scored the second which effectively clinched the victory).

Both John Blair and Bobby Lawrie also played for Saltcoats Victoria.

  15. Not disagreeing with any of the previous posters, but as well as the Aaron Muirhead/Dan O'Reilly debate, there may be at least a conversation to be had about whether Blair Alston should be in the starting line up. Scott Robinson, Luke McBeth and Ben Stanway could all be in that discussion, with appropriate adjustments of McInroy's or Bannigan's roles also being in the mix.

Cappielow is a different planet from Firhill, which might in itself justify changes in structure, tactics or personnel.

I’ve been critical of him and he didn’t have that much to do in the game but at 1-0 Sneddon produced a valuable save.  Had taken a deflection from one of our players that could have went anywhere but Jamie provided an important save

Agreed. That was a nasty one. Jamie did well to get his body behind it and shovel it away to the side of the goal, and he even got there first to fall on the ball. Would have been easy to pop it back in front of goal for a striker to follow it in.

    14 ties played today.

Queen's Park   v   Bonnyrigg Rose Girls postponed.

Livingston v Airdrie Ladies void. Livingston progress to the next round.

No idea, yet, when postponed tie will be played. Standings will be posted when result is known.

One player correctly predicted all 14 games played today. Three others predicted 13/14. Impressive.

I know that Partick Thistle Women won because I was there. I do not know any other results. If there were 13 upsets then I was the person who got all 14 correct!

Back with a bang. A 4-2 victory against Motherwell to progress to the next round in the Scottish Cup. Came from behind twice but totally bossed the second half. Well done!

Really impressive play and great atmosphere as always. Especially good for introducing younger children to supporting Thistle.

3 immaculate set piece deliveries and finishes in the second half.

Don't know what was going on but Big Brian initially won the ball by sheer pace. Sliding it in from an angle, again something you don't necessarily associate from the big fella.

Someone else pointed out that Brian was by and large staying on his feet as opposed to going to ground when tackled for much of his game today. No idea myself if that was significant but he did look that bit more of a constant problem to defences today than recently.

That was a very good finish by Brian. It is amazing how often that, even at the highest level, players find it difficult to slide the ball into an empty net from a tight angle.

  20. I appreciate that as well as scoring two, Tommy missed a couple of presentable chances, but for a striker to be on the pitch for such a short time and to position himself so as to be in with a strong chance of scoring four times shows good instincts and has to be commendable.
