  1. 18.08.2018 Celtic [h] L1-3 (League Cup 2nd Round) DANGER! DANGER! MUTOMBO! Top competitive scorer Aidan Fitzpatrick (3) now also goes joint-top of the competitive assists chart (2). Not bad for a 17-year-old! Andréa Dangerman-Mutombo scores in his first two appearances for the club, and becomes the first player to do so since Steven Craig back in September, 2012. Andréa still has a bit of work to do if he's to challenge the club-record holder; Douglas Stockdale scored in each of his first FIVE appearances in 1945! Partick Thistle FC stand just 2 short of the 9,000 competitive goals milestone. Thistle lose a 10th consecutive competitive home game to Celtic, thereby matching the H2H record which was set in 1993. Thistle haven't drawn a match since May 4th. ongoing sequences: 10 second tier home games without defeat, 19th Jan 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 10 games; 14th Apr 2012 to 15th Dec 2012. Club-record: 25 games; 22nd Aug 1896 to 21st Dec 1901.) 12 competitive games without a draw. (Longest run since: 13 games; 21st Jul 2012 to 22nd Sep 2012. Club-record: 27 games; 18th Feb 1899 to 23rd Dec 1899.) 18 consecutive competitive appearances for Blair Spittal, 31st Mar 2018 to date. (Longest run since: Baily Cargill - 19 games; 23rd Jan 2018 to 20th May 2018. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.) 51 games since back-to-back League wins, 11th Mar 2017 to date. (Longest run since: 71 games; 16th Apr 2013 to 14th Mar 2015. Club-record: 77 games; 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  2. My ears are burning again! Haha, always happy to do my bit for the cause lib. Since 1878, in our 612 single-leg cup knockout ties where the home/away designation was dependent upon the draw, we've ended up away on 304 occasions (49.7%). Cotter Jag's gut feeling of 70% for the last 10 seasons doesn't stand up; we've been drawn away 25 out of 45 times (55.6%) in that recent period. The official TJR stance for best handling of this matter is to hold court, pint in hand, and proclaim "**** sake man, we've been drawn away in 10 of the last 13 ties. That's pushing 80% ye know. Nae wonder we never win **** all." 08.09.2018 East Fife [a] tba (Challenge Cup 2nd Round) 18.08.2018 Celtic [h] W4-1 (League Cup 2nd Round) 14.08.2018 Stranraer [a] W5-0 (Challenge Cup 1st Round) 10.02.2018 Celtic [a] L2-3 (Scottish Cup 5th Round) 20.01.2018 Queen of the South [a] W2-1 (Scottish Cup 4th Round) 19.09.2017 Rangers [h] L1-3 (League Cup Quarter Final) 08.08.2017 St Johnstone [a] W3-0 (League Cup 2nd Round) 05.03.2017 Aberdeen [a] L0-1 (Scottish Cup Quarter Final) 11.02.2017 St Johnstone [a] W1-0 (Scottish Cup 5th Round) 21.01.2017 Formartine United [h] W4-0 (Scottish Cup 4th Round) 09.08.2016 Dundee United [a] L1-3 (League Cup 2nd Round) 06.02.2016 Dundee United [a] L0-1 (Scottish Cup 5th Round) 08.01.2016 St Mirren [a] W2-1 (Scottish Cup 4th Round)

  6. 14.08.2018 Stranraer [a] W5-0 (Challenge Cup 1st Round) RECORDS SET AT STAIR PARK The attendance of 480 is Thistle's lowest in competitive action since 416 attended Shielfield Park for a League Cup tie on 9/11. Of all reported attendances, it's the 4th lowest of all-time in all competitions. At 23y, 7m, 26d, last night's starting eleven was Alan Archibald's youngest side in 4½ years of competitive action. At just 17y, 4m, 25d, Aidan Fitzpatrick becomes the 4th youngest player to ever score a brace for the Jags. He's the youngest to do so since Willie Sharp (17y, 4m, 1d) netted a hat-trick in an 11-3 friendly win over Glasgow Highlanders in September '39, and the youngest to do so in competitive action since the legendary Ma ba' McKennan (17y, 2m, 26d) scored twice in a 7-0 League win at home to Queen's Park in October '35. The category record lies with John Campbell (16y, 10m, 30d) who scored twice in a 6-1 Scottish Cup win at home to Royal Albert in September, 1894. 28-year-old Andréa Dangerous-Mutombo makes his Thistle debut and makes an impact, joining our scoring debutants club. Andréa becomes the 135th man known to have played for the Jags and won a full international cap. In just his second appearance, left-back Max Melbourne scores his first goal for Thistle. After just 7 matches, Thistle have 9 different scorers and 9 different providers on the goals & assists charts. In all, 14 players have been directly involved in the scoring action. Excellently, 20-year-old Jamie Sneddon keeps his 100% competitive clean-sheet record intact, after his second appearance. Ryan Scully was the last Thistle custodian to start his competitive career with such a feat, back in 2011. Only 2 men have went further; John Hillcoat did 3-in-a-row in October '96, and Lindsay Hamilton set the category record of 4 in May '98. James Penrice and Sean McGinty are the last men standing with 100% (630 mins) competitive game time in 2018-19. Thistle register their biggest competitive away win over Stranraer, beating the previous record of 3-0 set in 2000. Thistle win a 4th consecutive away match at Stair Park, and in doing so re-set the H2H record. The Jags have never lost a cup match to the Blues, now an 8 game run which stretches from 1938 to date. The unfortunate Kris Doolan is 8 competitive games without a goal, his longest drought since a 12 game run set between July and October 2016. His longest goal-less run (14) was set between December 2013 and March 2014. ongoing sequences: 10 second tier home games without defeat, 19th Jan 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 10 games; 14th Apr 2012 to 15th Dec 2012. Club-record: 25 games; 22nd Aug 1896 to 21st Dec 1901.) 17 consecutive competitive appearances for Blair Spittal, 31st Mar 2018 to date.
  7. 8. 11.08.2018 Falkirk [h] W2-1 (SPFL Championship - game 2) ERSKINE, SCOURGE O' THE BAIRNS! 7 of Thistle's 8 competitive goals have been tagged with an assist so far this season, with 7 different players (Blair Spittal, Chris Erskine, Christie Elliott, Kris Doolan, Miles Storey, Sean McGinty and Tam O'Ware) registering as providers. Miles Storey and Chris Erskine become the first two to register on both the goals and assists chart for this season. In all, the goals and assists have been shared between 11 players already. Chris Erskine scores against Falkirk for the 8th time in competitive action. Only Willie Sharp (13), Jimmy Walker (9) and John Torbet (9) have scored more often against the Bairns. Jags go 8 League games without defeat versus Falkirk, a run which stretches from 2011 to date. Fortress Firhill hasn't witnessed a second-tier defeat for 5 years, 7 months and 15 days ongoing sequences: 10 second tier home games without defeat, 19th Jan 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 10 games; 14th Apr 2012 to 15th Dec 2012. Club-record: 25 games; 22nd Aug 1896 to 21st Dec 1901.) 16 consecutive competitive appearances for Blair Spittal, 31st Mar 2018 to date.
  9. In competitive action for Thistle, only Willie Sharp (13), Jimmy Walker (9) and John Torbet (9) have scored more goals against Falkirk than former godlike-genius Chris Erskine (7).
  10. Thanks for the great info m8. Have updated my records
  11. That 8 out of 48 thing is fake news. Alan Archibald has won 10 out of his last 48 League games. At least get your facts right as you stick the knife in.
  12. Only yer Benny Bullfrog would profer that the flying of the "union jack" at a football ground in Glasgow is a non-political statement. Politics is best left out of Firhill. For the avoidance of doubt: stuff yer union.
  13. 04.08.2018 Ayr United [a] L0-2 (SPFL Championship - game 1) A HARD ROAD TO TRAVEL Continuing the bizarre abnormality of not filling the bench - a trend which first showed in earnest last season - Thistle list only 4 substitutes on the opening day of the League season. Already in 2018-19, the club has filed teamsheets NINE places short of the allocated allowance. 19-year-old Max Melbourne makes his Thistle debut. By road, the dedicated Thistle fan based in Glasgow city centre will, on average, make a round-trip of around 148 miles per game to see the Jags in 2018-19 away day League fixtures. The second tier landscape this season has changed vastly since the last time we were involved, with the Thistle fan of 2012-13 travelling just 64 miles per game back then. Historically, this season's average is second only to the traveller of 2009-10, who navigated a round-trip average of around 153 miles per game. This season's total miles travelled (2,676) sits third highest of all-time in terms of total distance covered, the record remaining with the dedicated patron of season 2015-16 who travelled 2,780 miles in support of the team. Away day League round trips of more than 2,500 miles per season are unique to Thistle fans in the 21st century, with 5 such instances. All of this is a far cry from those who followed the Jags by charabanc in our first League season of 1893-94, who rumbled along back and forth for just 30 miles per game! The historical average for the category is to make round-trips totalling 1,339 miles per season, or 78.74 miles per game. Alan Archibald's famous run of 16 First Division games unbeaten from 5 years ago is surrendered meekly, immediately upon Thistle's return to second tier action. Thistle slump to an opening day bottom-of-the-League position for the first time since 2010-11, when a 4-0 reverse at Stark's Park damaged similarly. 22nd is Thistle's lowest position in Scottish football since August 2011. It's now FIFTY League games without back-2-back wins for Alan Archibald's Thistle. ongoing sequences: 9 second tier home games without defeat, 19th Jan 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 10 games; 14th Apr 2012 to 15th Dec 2012. Club-record: 25 games; 22nd Aug 1896 to 21st Dec 1901.) 15 consecutive competitive appearances for Blair Spittal, 31st Mar 2018 to date. (Longest run since: Baily Cargill - 19 games; 23rd Jan 2018 to 20th May 2018. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.) 50 games since back-to-back League wins, 11th Mar 2017 to date. (Longest run since: 71 games; 16th Apr 2013 to 14th Mar 2015. Club-record: 77 games; 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  14. Alan Archibald, 16 unbeaten, remains the only man in history to have managed the Jags in the second tier without tasting defeat. COYJ
  15. Take it you won't be singing "by the way, we don't fear anyone, anytime, anywhere" next time it comes around then?
  16. You'd do well to remember we came within a whisker of a 3-3 at Celtic Park in the last meeting between the sides earlier this year. We can't be going in with a loser's mentality before a ball is kicked.
  17. Thistle have never beaten Celtic at home in the League Cup in 9 attempts. 10th time lucky? Our last League Cup victory against Celtic came in 1971. Every time Thistle win the League Cup they beat Celtic.
  18. 2nd Round draw Livingston v Motherwell Dundee v Ayr United Dunfermline Athletic v Heart of Midlothian Kilmarnock v Rangers Aberdeen v St Mirren Partick Thistle v Celtic Hibernian v Ross County Queen of the South v St Johnstone
  19. Told ye, we ended 1970-71 on a Sunday and started 1971-72 on a Sunday. we ended 2017-18 on a Sunday and started 2018-19 on a Sunday. That's only ever been done twice. It is written. seeded: Aberdeen Ayr United Celtic Dunfermline Athletic Hibernian Livingston Rangers St Johnstone unseeded: Dundee Kilmarnock Heart of Midlothian Motherwell Partick Thistle Queen of the South Ross County St Mirren Livingston at Firhill anyone?
  20. Think it's contrived as 4 and 4 i.e. 50/50 chance.
  21. 24.07.2018 Albion Rovers [a] W2-0 (League Cup Group E - game 3) 'MON THE YOUNG TEAM! 19-year-old James Penrice sets a new personal best of 3 consecutive competitive appearances for the Jags. Miles Storey nets for the time in the calendar year, breaking a run of 27 competitive appearances without a goal for the forward. Aidan Fitzpatrick at 17y, 4m, 4d, becomes the second youngest Jag known to have scored on his competitive debut, and the youngest since 16-year-old John Campbell, 124 years ago! Aidan, who became the first man born in the 21st century to play for Thistle back in July 2017, now becomes the first to do so in competitive action. 2018-19 becomes the first season to have two teenagers score competitive goals for Thistle since 2011-12 when Stuart Bannigan (19) & Stephen O'Donnell (19) did so. Penrice & Fitzpatrick are the first pair of teenagers to score in back-to-back competitive games for Thistle this century. Last to do so were Robert Dunn (19) and Scott Houston (18) back in April, 1999. With this win, Jags extend 2 H2H records against Rovers; it's now 5 consecutive competitive game away wins (1993 to date) and 6 competitive away games without defeat (1990 to date). Thistle have never lost an away cup tie to the Rovers, now an 8 game run which stretches from 1942 to date. Alan Archibald's managerial career record against non top-flight opposition remains very healthy, with 27 wins out of 39, and a goal difference of +45. 28.07.2018 Ayr United [h] L0-2 (League Cup Group E - game 4) LEAGUE CUP RUN ENDS Niall Keown makes his 50th competitive appearance as a Jag. James Penrice, Sean McGinty and Shea Gordon emerge from the League Cup group stage as the last men standing in terms of 100% competitive game time in 2018-19. Thistle's club-record run of 17 League Cup group games without defeat since August 1982 comes to an end. ongoing sequences: 14 consecutive competitive appearances for Blair Spittal, 31st Mar 2018 to date. (Longest run since: Baily Cargill - 19 games; 23rd Jan 2018 to 20th May 2018. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.) 49 games since back-to-back League wins, 11th Mar 2017 to date. (Longest run since: 71 games; 16th Apr 2013 to 14th Mar 2015. Club-record: 77 games; 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  22. Ha, yes, Ridgers, a shocking personal record with us, conceding 12 goals in 180 minutes of action in all-games, a joint club-record in terms of a career-start. Let's hope he keeps up his "form" in this second half. ^ desperado
