I think the ideal scenario is that the Dee take him now and we get the cash….and make a late swoop for Haaland from Dortmund

Although looking him up did reveal a potential deal from Amazon, "Low prices on Erling Haaland - Amazon.co.uk official site" :o, according to other sources rumours (Hey, it's the BILD comic!) Bayern München could be looking to offload a Polish worker on its books in order to make room for him. Maybe we could offer a place to Lewandowski alongside Brian, to see if he wants to develop his skills at our level.

  2. Tunji didn't commit a foul, but it was a bad pass to him, and the referee had shown early on that he was looking to penalise us.

A pedestrian first half, attempting to play the Airdrie game of head tennis. By the end of the second half, when we were down a man, the team was beginning to string some football together. Tiffoney needs some shooting practice, though.

Thank you. Just went for Player 2 which has been fine. The commentators have been a bit behind the play sometimes, but generally fair in their comments. Thistle improved in last 15 minutes, but overall pretty scrappy and uninspired stuff.

Who imagines that using "Player" on screen for live football streams is unambiguous? :loco:

Have got the picture up on screen and waiting for the commentary to begin. Is there any relevant difference between using Player 1, Player 2 or Player 3?

Stream 1 not working for me. The other two seem to be just commentary on audio with no audio from the actual pitch at all - not to mention constant popping from unshielded microphones. Still, bar one incident of blocking the visual feed seems reasonable.

  5. Does it make sense to view strikers' records without considering who is partnering them or providing them with the opportunities to score? Judging by the evidence of the Hamilton game, it seemed to me that Connor Murray and Zak Rudden had a good understanding, as did Scott Tiffoney and Brian Graham. Watching Rudden and Graham together, though, seems to suggest that they're not gelling in the same way.

Watching the EFL highlights tonight on Quest. Mansfield v Hartlepool, Mansfield won 3-2 but again due to fog will just need to take the comentatters word for it.

Due to covid only 9 games played in the 3 leagues below the Premiership in England today.

    HartlepoolS (United), surely?

I didn't put a preference down when applying to get to one of the 3 games in the hope it would give me a better chance, not sure now.

We (son no. 2 and I) have been allocated entry, and I did the same. Following Fawlty Towers' lead above, better a chance to see a game than leaving it to a later one: who knows what new restrictions or cancellations could affect the fixtures schedule?

Well done to this week's winners:

We can confirm the winning numbers from this afternoon’s 50/50 draw. 1st Prize (£430): 103583 2nd Prize: 101133 Thanks to everyone who entered for their support!

Thanks for that: there was a complete absence of that information on the club website.

...he doesn't hide and that can't be said for a few thistle players...

I can't speak for others' view, but I thought all of them - not to mention the ball - were hiding for much of the game today. :D

  10. Lucky to score in the end - in the 6th minute of added time!

Bannigan's aimless punts to the right wing (because he needs his right foot for standing on) and other sterling efforts at giving away possession ensured that, despite playing 10 men, the outcome was uncertain right to the end. 4 minutes into added time, with Sneddon in possession and fog obscuring any view from a distance, seemed to be the time to decide on a laboured progress up the park played out from the defence, in case a quick ball appearing out of the fog were an unfair surprise to the opposition.

  11. One aspect of our attacking, such as it was, bothered me: no account seemed to be taken that attempts on goal would have to defeat Gaston,  a big, experienced, capable goalkeeper. Tame shots close to him just weren't going to get past him, yet that was generally what he faced.

Doesn't our expansive management team take each game seriously enough to brief their team on each individual opponent? Uncle Dick had obviously seen to it that his team did their homework - especially by ensuring that Bannigan's one kicking foot was closed down quickly.

If we're going to employ all these coaches, surely they must have the time and desire to assess every opponent - teams and all players - before each game.

...Never thought I would say this, but I am so glad that Boris/Nicola run the country rather than you.

What terrible times we live in when a Jags fan says that any of our current clutch of rulers would be more capable of running the country than one of our own.  Do we have room for such extremism in our midst? ;)

Woeful match. Cracking goal. Freezing. Glad I didn't bring the grandkids.

It seems to me that the team gradually thawed out as they ran about, producing a higher standard of play. Oh for a management that would follow the smart example of Simon Donnelly and Jackie McNamara and provide clothing suitable for the conditions! It's not exactly advanced sports psychology to understand that a comfortable (as opposed to a freezing) footballer is less inclined to feel the pain of a physical blow (remember the late flare-up of physicality?) and more capable of concentrating, especially in the early stages of play.

While I'm grumbling - we know the low sun can be a problem for a goalkeeper at Firhill at certain times of year: when are we ever going to wise up to this and provide our goalies with a skipped cap for use in these conditions?

Adding to this conversation. I would say I think I am a half full guy but probably at the moment more half empty. We are on a decent run at the moment but really need to do better at home.

I see it the other way: now that the defence seems to have been sorted out, with effective goal-scoring play, it seems to me we're likely to do well this season.
